Walker311, quote:
there are certain characteristics that many Christians cannot seem to grasp and in fact, never will. The bible doesn't seem to think so . . . 1Jo 4:20 - Show Context If someone says, "I love God," and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen? 1Jo 4:21 - Show Context And this commandment we have from Him: that he who loves God must love his brother also. An individual who does not know how to show compassion and who never will and a christian that knows God are two mutually exclusive things, and NEVER to be confused. quote:
For example, there are many who seem to have a talent for giving and it comes across as selfless and loving. Then you have those who are full of themselves and would not give you the time of day and they both will exist in the same heaven. 1Jo 3:17 - Show Context But whoever has this world's goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him? This is a rhetorical question. The answer is: It doesn't. Love encompasses A LOT. A lot of people who think they love God and Know Him, aren't even in the area code--yet along the ballpark. Such will be the lot who say, Lord, Lord! And He says "I never knew you!" Yikes! A very sobering thought.
