I don't think Walden Media is all that secular; not overtly Christian perhaps, but I know one of the co-founders is a Christian.

I am trying to say that small companies on shoestring budgets can't hire the caliber of talent, or budget in the big time effects we see in other films these day. If they could, movies about the Maccabbeean revolt, a remake of the life of Moses, or David would be FANTASTIC!!

Well, like I said before, I think this used to be true, but I don't think it is anymore. Personally, I always thought a movie made from the life of Elijah would be pretty incredible. I think if some bright Christian had his druthers, he would make a graphic novel of it first, like 300, and then sell that to a responsible movie producer.

If big companies see that these films can be lucrative, they will make more of them. FoxFaith is not what I would call a "small company" and they have actually made some really good movies. But if no one will go seem them because they are predisposed to think that Christian movies will be silly and cheesy (as it seems you are), then they'll stop releasing them. And that is actually what has happened unfortunately- at least with FoxFaith. In 2006 and 2007, FoxFaith released several Christian themed movies in theaters. They did marginally well, but not well enough. The company has since decided to focus more on direct to DVD and made for televison movies. Which I think is sad, because I would love to see more movies like The Ultimate Gift and One Night with the King in theaters. Bluestone- I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree about One Night with the King, but give Amazing Grace and The Ultimate Gift a try. Maybe you'll be pleasantly surprised[:)]

I will. [:)] I live in a rather small town, so unless it is a blockbuster, it probably will be in the theater here for a very short time, if at all.

I don't remember there being any general concern about the way Lewis was depicted in Shadowlands.

Looking at the films they have produced, include "Charlotte's Web" (the latest one with dakota in it), Because of Winn Dixie, and Hoot....among many others. May not be "smack you upside the head "Christian"....but, great movies for the entire family, nonetheless...with a great story, and a good "message", as well. Add in there "The Greatest Game Ever Played", and even "Cars", for that matter, from Disney. Sure beats suffering through "second-rate" performances in "Christian" movies. The kids in our church's "Children's Choir" (grades 1-6) musical typically put on a better performance than what is seen in a "typical" "Christian" movie.
