For,lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone;
the flowers appear on the earth;
the time of the singing of birds is come.
Song Of Solomon 2:11,12

Stand outside this evening.
Look at the stars.
Know that you are special and loved by the
One who created them

Good morning, Barb! Thanks for starting us out this week with such beautiful and appropriate verses!

I'm going to be without electric for a while in a little bit here, so trying to post really quick before he shuts it off. Can't remember when I posted last -- this weekend is a blur. We got the floor down, part of the furniture back in place, part of the trim back up, and hopefully the guy I have here working -- fixing the electric he knocked out Friday and finishing up the window will have time to help me with the last of the trim, so I can start putting things back in order.

Dee, (from last weeks thread) I agree with Maggie -- the dress AND your daughter look absolutely beautiful -- hope she enjoyed the evening. And yes, I agree that did sound like a dog & pony show . . . I don't know if they do that here or not -- never heard of it, but haven't had any kids in school for 12 years.

Ginny, I think it's so great that you've been ministering to your neighbors -- allowing God to use you in such a way is just awesome -- especially, as Maggie says, knowing that you've had some confidence problems anyway. Now I'm wondering if you had posted that in this thread or in your thread -- I've read both over the weekend, but didn't take time to post in anything. Anyway, hope we can get together again real soon.

Maggie, if you make it in here, hope you wake up refreshed from your sleep -- I know it was very late . . well, actually, very early this morning before you finally got in bed. And I hope that your son is feeling better by now.

Now the guy will be back in just a minute so got to go. Garrett and I will be enjoying the outdoors while he's working on the electric . . or we might even go for a ride -- we'll see.

Good Monday Morning Everyone

Hope you all had a nice relaxing week-end.
I helped Pam paint my dads front room on Sat. We then went to buy me a garden angel at Steins Garden Center. I got home, and me and hubby went to buy me a brand new lawn mower.
So yesterday I cut grass. Hey..it was fun with that new self-propelled mower Give's you a work-out if you pull it a full propelled action. You are walking real fast then.
I placed my new angel on the large tree stump, in my front yard. Put two baskets of Ivy plants out there on the stump also. Looks really nice.
Have to get up in the attic this afternoon and bring all my summer decorations down. My glazing globes are up there also. Can get the hamock down too. So I have my whole afternoon filled up already. Then I have to pick Cody up, at school, and bring him to his dentist appt. Right after that he has his FIRST driving school classroom instruction tonight. My "baby" is gonna learn how to drive

Good morning all!

Thanks for starting a new thread Barb! Enjoy that new lawn mower. I never did finish mowing the back yard, and there's a light rain coming down right now.

Thanks Leah! I hope you get your electric back without further difficulties; I read in your thread about the problems with your electricity.

Good afternoon everyone!

Dee I agree with everyone - the dress and your daughter are beautiful.
The arrivals sound very Hollywood (or Hollywierd as we in CA like to say).

Barb your yard sounds like somewhere I would like to go with a good book and an afternoon or evening with nuthin' to do. I bet except for all the nature noises it is really quiet. Ahhhhhh!

Well I think I have my computer almost back to being the way I like it. I still have to install a few more things to make computer life easier, but it's coming along.

For those of you who have been following Ami's progress I added another update on my link. I am looking forward to visiting with them in Sept.

Hey everyone!

Barb, your yard does sound very pretty. I have had so little time to work in my yard this year, and have bought very few flowers. Owell. I've just had too much going, so may just have to go with the perrenials and the few annuals that re-seed themselves year to year.

Marsha, thanks for the notice of the update on Ami.

Thanks, Dee . . . our electric is back on with a brand new box and brand new circuit breakers. It was a rough morning for him trying to find what we needed, so he didn't really get started until after 12:00. Didn't get it all hooked up until 5:30 or 6:00. As it turned out, him hitting the wire seems to have been a blessing in disguise. When he tore the breaker box apart this morning he discovered a nearly melted circuit in the breaker the dryer was on. He said it had become hot enough to melt that, and that it could have caught fire anytime . . . You know, God is just so very good. I'm so thankful He watches out for us the way He does. Anyway, he's coming back tomorrow to finish the window and help me put up the trim in that room.

I've done very little . . think I'm just so exhausted from the weekend. AFter Garrett left tonight I did manage to go up and cut all the trim for him to put up tomorrow. I'll have to touch it up with paint once it's up. Also will need to try to match and paint the window frame after he gets it in. I'm feeling like this is never going to end . . . . Barb, sure could use a big dose of your energy

I knew there was a problem with the way I said that

Hey, Denny! How ya be??

Yeah, Marsha, He sure is . . . I guess, tho, He won't be helping me personally to put up my trim tomorrow, nevertheless, He will be present

I'm slow on the uptake. I just got it!
And yes He isn't here with us in bodily form. But thankfully He has His angels watching over us which is the next best thing. I think about some of the situations I have been in that should have ended in disaster and yet I'm still kicking. Man when I see those pics of Ami's apartment and realize he was standing where the hole in the table is when he opened that package. He really shouldn't be alive!!!

Thanks Marsha!

I missed it too, Marsha.

That is scary about the circuit Leah, but your right, God is good!

My son was laying around out here feeling bad tonight; he had/has an upset stomach. I wonder what's up with that; we'll see how he is in the morning.

Good Tues. Morning Everyone

Denny, so far the morning is going alright..but I hav'ent started anything yet.
Great to see you pop in again.

Dee, hope your son is feeling better this morning. I am enjoying the new mower, thank you.

Marsha, I did'ent get the "uptake" till you mentioned it. LOL..
Funny you mentioned my yard as being relaxing..I always think of Leah's yard as that way. But I must admit I do enjoy mine also. Got all my yard decorations out of the attic yesterday. Placed some outside already. Looks really nice so far. I covered up the tree stumps with plant holders. Now I gotta go out and buy some plants for them tho. Nice large overflowing plants, like Ivy's or something.

Leah, good thing the guy found that breaker poblem. You could have had a fire!! I'll sent some energy down today for you. I just have to go by my daughters and dig up some flowers she does'ent want. Then I have to till up some ground for her. After that I have to till up some ground in my yard, and plant them flowers she gave me. Then I was gonna work in my flower garden. Weeded around my flowers, by the deck, and front of the house, yesterday. Worked that spade so much I hurt my arm. Gotta try to let it rest some today. Put an ace bandage on it last night while I slept. It does feel alittle better today.

I had an intresting Friday night. My older son called, and wanted me to come over to his house. He said his wife wanted to "clear the air" I did'ent know what I had done, so I went over there. BOTH my daughter-in-laws were over there. They had list's of things they wanted to talk to me about.
I kept my mouth shut, and took it tho. Lets just say it was a "mother-in-law bashing" Even had me in tears. Not sure what I want to do now. The girls feel better..I feel sad/mad.

Sorry you had such a difficult time yesterday evening. It takes a lot of effort to keep quiet and you did it. You have the blessings of partaking in Jesus' sufferings. "He was oppressed and He was afflicted, yet He did not open His mouth." You tears are precious to Him. Trusting God that He will bring you peace and heal this situation. (((((Barb)))))

Saturday our church had a Luau as a send-off for Leonard and me to TX. We don't know exactly when we'll be leaving. The house is up for sale and has to be sold before we can leave. We sure need a miracle! This isn't a popular city--small and out of the way and nothing in entertainment most of the year. I pretty much like it here. It would probably have to be someone who has a good reason to live here, who would want to buy a house here. Well, God knows who it is, and will send them at the right time!

Good morning Denny, Barb & Joy!

Wow, Barb, it's something that you were able to be quiet and take it -- not sure I could have done that, but Joy's right. I too will pray for healing and peace in this.

Joy, I will pray God sends a buyer right away for your house. I know you guys have gone to a lot of work to get it fixed up to sell. That's great about the Luau, tho -- sounds like fun, and always nice ot be told you'll be missed

My yard usually is relaxing, but right now it's full of a lot of work, so it doesn't look so relaxing. I did, however, managed to do just that for a short while yesterday. Got to sit in the swing and read for a bit.

This morning I've made a trip to Walmart early, bought some paint, and am painting the window trim -- white inside, brown outside. Taking a break cuz my back is really hurting. One more cuppa coffee and I should be ready to go again

Joy,
That's so nice to have been given that Luau. Is there any intresting buyers for the house yet? Not to worry if there is'ent. It will sell. Guess it's a buyers market out there now. Thanks..your words gave me comfort. Like I always say..this too shall pass..
I know I'm from a different generation, but I could never have done that to my mother-in-law.

Leah, take it easy on your back. Rest more today. It's your bodys way of telling you that very thing. That's what I am doing with my arm today. I got the flowers dug up by my daughter and tilled her patches on ground. Now that I'm back home they are waiting for me. But I took an hour's rest inside. Now I will go out there and tackle it. But if the wrist starts hurting again I will take a break.

Thanks, Barb. My back is slightly better. Brian is here and doing the outside window frame now. I painted the inside one brown and it should have been white . . . I'm so tired, or I would have probably noticed that. It's not going to be fun to paint over two coats of brown paint, not to mention it will put way too much paint on that frame. Owell. Brian assures me it will paint over well, especially since the white paint is so thick.

Garrett, poor baby, was slightly neglected while I was outside painting (making multiple trips back in to make sure he was ok), so on the last trip inside I discovered him lying in the floor asleep. Guess I will have to give him some extra attention when he awakes to make up for this . . . he was really acting tired this morning, tho, so he probably didnt' sleep well last night.

You know, I have to say, my yard really is peaceful, even with all the work waiting for us back there. As I was painting the boards, it was so nice to hear the doves cooing, the mockingbird going thru his repertoire of bird songs (we seem to have a resident mockingbird out there this year), the roosters crowing across the field, the geese honking as they flew over and even some turkeys gobbling. We do have quite a lovely place, and very peaceful most of the time.

It's been overcast and breezy today, so I've not gotten too hot working & running in & out. Threatening rain, tho I hope it holds off until all the window framing and trim is up and out of the backyard.

BTW, Barb, I couldn't have done that to my mil either -- yes, it IS a different generation, but I don't find that as any excuse to be rude and crude -- or even forward.

Ok . . back to work

Hey everyone!

Denny good grief I looked at your post time - 3:17am??? That's not morning - that's the netherworld!

Leah and Barb - if you want to do a field trip to CA and do your magic on my yard feel free!!

Barb I'm afraid my Jewish self would have not kept silent. Some day they will be mother- in-laws and they may find that it is not that easy of a job. Were your sons there too or was it just a "ladies" time?
(Unruffle of feathers) Now you just be who you are. Take into consideration what they said and pray about changing anything that the L~rd may want to change and then let the rest go and be the mother-in-law who loves her kids no matter what.

Joy I will pray that just the right people come to buy your house. The L~rd is in this move and will have you in Texas in His perfect time.
I think waiting is one thing I have lots of trouble with. Not one of my virtues.

Today is laundry day so I'd better get a load out of the washer and another one in. Did I mention that I love my new washer and dryer??

OK so now you are making me jealous!
At least I can also hear the mockingbirds and doves too, but I also hear cars on the busy street 5 houses down. But compared to the last house we lived in where our bedroom window faced a really busy street with cars and 18wheelers this is indeed a quiet haven!

You know..I can truely say I don't remember ever hearing a morning dove till I moved out here. And the geese are lovely to watch..in the lake..not my yard.
I really love the wildlife on the lake. We have pelicans that showed up a couple of years ago. Lovely white pelicans that are so graceful when they swim. You should watch them fish. They form a circle, and their heads go down together. It's so cool to watch. Then the birds are chirpping all around me, in the yard. I see a turtle walking slowly across my driveway. And the bunnies are running around the yard. I have even seen a deer in my yard once. Altho they usually don't travel down to the houses. We live on a penisula of the lake. So we do get alot of wildlife around here. Land and lake. Our road is a dead-end so not much traffic on it. Just the folks liveing out here.

Marsha, my oldest son was there, but not the middle son. The older son did'ent say to much.

Well my break is over. Trying to dig up some ground to plant them flowers. Remind me NEVER to put rocks along my house for a "pretty" boarder. What a mess! And the sun was just beating down on me. I'm sitting here with a fan blowing on me right now. LOL

Barb, that sounds so beautiful . . . I love seeing a lot of wildlife around. Now I have to admit we don't see a whole lot -- mostly birds, squirrels, an occasional rabbit, and VERY rarely, deer. We do have cattle in front and in back of us -- peaceful to watch, I have to admit.

Yeah, Marsha, we live on a gravel road, so not many 18 wheelers -- tho I have to admit to seeing at least one come thru here . . . I've only lived in the city for a short while after graduating. It was just enough of a taste to convince me to come back home -- home to the country . . . . however, this is a well traveled gravel road, and there are still crazy drivers -- those who are in a huge hurry to get nowhere . . . it can get dangerous.

Well, the trim is all installed, even the baseboard we'd had to take up. I asked the guy just to go ahead and use his handy-dandy nailer to put those things in and save my aching knees! . . It took him less than 20 minutes to nail in 8 pieces of trim that I would have spent at least 30 minutes each on. What a relief to have it all done. Tomorrow I'll finish painting -- the window and trim -- then I can really start moving things back in place. I just cleaned up all the tools and swept the floor. Maybe I'll get up in the morning and give it another good mopping. I sure hope I feel better than today -- I've been so exhausted all day.

I'm doing my braised chicken breasts, simmered in diced tomatoes & sliced onions with basil & garlic, stove top stuffing, and lima beans tonight.

Dinner sounds great Leah! When do you want us over??

We are doing a what I call bachelor's delight. One of the single guys in our shul (synagogue) makes it for oneg (potluck). It is a can of Progresso chunky chicken soup, cooked rice, cream of chicken soup, chicken tenders all dumped into the crockpot and fogediboudit (forget about it) until its ready. He uses a basic ingredient of Progresso soup and rice and then adds stuff to it. Sometimes he'll add a can of pinapple and tomatoes .. you can get pretty creative.

Glad to hear that you have the window almost done Leah. Give yourself permission to rest though.
