The title speaks for itself.

mutinywxgirl -> RE: What (non-physical) trait do you appreciate about the opposite gender? (5/5/2008 10:35:52 AM)

The integrity of a man who has a heart after God.

ladioffaith -> RE: What (non-physical) trait do you appreciate about the opposite gender? (5/5/2008 10:40:31 AM)

I'll go first, since it's my thread. [:)]

I SO dig musicians! Put a guitar around his neck and he becomes instantly more attractive. Especially when he's playing worship songs!

Add in a patient, kind personality ... and that makes him so much more interesting!

And also ... being able to have a good conversation about politics without having to feel like you have to shut up, because he's the first Christian you agree with and ... [sm=icon_smile_faint.gif]
(that was a swooning smace!)

Can you tell I had an interesting weekend???

Too bad I saw him when I looked like an exhausted drowned rat! Why, why, why? [sm=hammerhead.gif]

mutinywxgirl -> RE: What (non-physical) trait do you appreciate about the opposite gender? (5/5/2008 10:41:37 AM)

LOLOLOL - don't you hate when that happens?????

Okay, yeah, the intelligence thing is huge for me too - to be able to carry on a conversation about anything is beyond glorious for me! [:)]

Tinkerbell_ -> RE: What (non-physical) trait do you appreciate about the opposite gender? (5/5/2008 11:02:09 AM)

Intelligence is huge for me too. (That's why I liek teh geekz. *grin*)

Also a heart for God and others around him. It sounds like a nobrainer for Christians but it truly isn't.

JustJeannie -> RE: What (non-physical) trait do you appreciate about the opposite gender? (5/5/2008 11:33:17 AM)

I want someone who has a heart for God and can help guide me on my faith journey to become more Christ-like.
I would like to meet someone who can love my children as his own.

After that, of course, intelligence and employment would be important.

Here's a few things that I appreciate in men:

* Protectiveness over his children (I'm thinking of Robert in Enchanted).

* Intelligence and curiosity. He asks lots of questions and attempts to make sense of what's in front of him. Also, he can beat me at a game of Cranium!

* Quiet ambition - he doesn't anounce to the world his intentions, he just does them.

* He doesn't want his wife to raise the kids alone -- he wants to have an active part in raising them.

* I admire a man who can fix things on his own around the house, but knows when to call the professionals (or maybe he has a network of friends he can call on).

* If he's interested in me, and he steps up and doesn't back down, he doesn't bail at the first sign of conflict... I don't meet someone like this often, but when I do... wow!! [:D]

* I've always loved seeing couples who are in ministry together. Theirs always seems to be a strong marriage. I'm not saying this is a requirement in my marriage, though it would be nice. I just love watching these couples.

* He might be competetive on the field and at work, but a team player at home.

Thanks Rach - yeah, some people say that we're glowing. LOLOLOL [:)]

And believe it or not - that was BEFORE we had our heart to heart about what God is doing in our lives. It's just gotten better since then - even though I only get to see him maybe a couple of times a month right now.

Yippee, no wonder I haven't seen you on here much. You've been busy elsewhere.

And he(your guy) has a twin BTW. I was basing those qualities on a singular individual.[:)]

MOST excellent! I'll have to tell him. LOLOL Right now we're nothing more than really good friends - but we have a history - and know that the second God gives us the green light (if/when), then we'll be together in no time at all. I've known him since 1984, and we began dating in 1991 (off and on for 10 years), and God has brought us back together yet again - this time under His purpose, so we're keeping Him at the center. It's pretty awesome. That picture was at a Steve Green Concert - taken by Steve's MIL.

Actually I'm not around so much because I'm just really busy with work - between both jobs, and then collapsing at the end of the day.

I agree with all of these, and would just add: he has great taste in women.

Well ... I DIDN'T know about the drowned rat part .... and by the time I did, I didn't have a brush so I tried not to care.

Actually met him last week and learned about this Saturday night worship cafe thing at a friend's church, which he had recently joined.

Got the invite for it about an hour before it was scheduled .. and only a few hours after Relay for Life, the most physically exhausting thing I do all year. I brushed my hair, changed into clean clothes and was basically good to go. Didn't give deep thought to my appearance at that point ...mostly because I wasn't sure who would be there, or even that I really liked him.

Very small group ... Mr. Guitar Player was the only instrumentalist ... strumming along on his bass guitar, making up random songs about scripture, random thoughts, what he saw out the window.

I am a harmonizer by nature so I hum along, doing my backup vocalist thing.

One of my long-time brothers in Christ pipes up, "Hey Diane, it's open mic night" when Mr. Guitar Player sings,

[sm=icon_smile_sing.gif]"There are two microphones up here"[sm=icon_smile_sing.gif]

I responded with what I've always been told ...

[sm=icon_smile_sing.gif]I don't need a microphone ....[sm=icon_smile_sing.gif]

Later I was reading various lines out of the Bible and he was turning them into songs ... all of this was extremely cool!

At some point, I went out to my car to get a sweatshirt ... failing in my attempts to dodge the raindrops.

Later, I went to the restroom and caught a glimpse of my appearance ...

[sm=icon_smile_yikes.gif]

Tried to put it out of my mind and hung around while he encouraged me to pick up the guitar ... I told him I am SO not an instrumentalist. He was talking sound engineer stuff and put some of the stuff into terms even a simple writer like me could understand. Chatted about this non-profit he wants to start ...

Later we were hanging around having some very intelligent discourse about key issues of the day ... I noticed that my uber conservative friend didn't even go into any political rants, so (gasp!) I was actually discussing politics with Christians and not wanting to run away!

Next time I go there, I hope I'll have a bit more time to invest into my hair and wardrobe.

Loverly photo, Lisa!

Thanks!

GREAT story, btw. [:)]

ladioffaith -> RE: What (non-physical) trait do you appreciate about the opposite gender? (5/5/2008 2:22:30 PM)

[:)] Thanks! [:)]

BTW ... A friend of mine ... clueless as to how much I dig musicians and this one in particular (and let's keep it that way, shall we) invited another friend of mine to this little gathering. Hopefully if he goes ... my interest in Mr. Guitar Man will sail right over his head ...but he knows me VERY well ... I think I should be afraid. Very afraid.

(The last time I brought guy to church, my guest was the topic of dinner conversation among 3 women who were not in service ... the first friend being among them)
