What made RTL, Roger Dobkowitz, and others decide after 16 years, The Price Is Right eliminate the long-standing rule only allowing three companies to supply cars on the show?

It happened last month during a taping when the show began offering Hondas. Could this be a paid slot by Honda, knowing their plants in Ohio wanted to be represented on a game show where the host and announcer are both from the Cleveland area?

Maybe they realized that Honda, having plants in the US is just as much of an "American" car as a Ford that's built in Mexico.

Or maybe they realized that people were more interested in cars that last for 10 years and have a high resale value.

Or maybe Honda just wrote a big enough check that they couldn't say no.

From what I've heard it was product placement payments. BMW (Mini) and Honda did it this week, but after the show where Honda did the pay for ad space, RTL ran another Big Three only show for the rest of the week.

I can tell you this--this is the changing of the business, folks...
