I'm pretty flexible about roommates and kind of accommodation, but something in the range of 300/month would be great. Is that realistic? not unless you have 3 or 4 roomates. [8D] the cheapest housing you are going to find would be uptown in the following neighborhoods: Washington Heights, Hamilton Heights, Inwood, and parts of Harlem. you can usually find one bedrooms for under $1,200 a month, 2 bedrooms for around 1,600 a month.. if you are sharing with multiple roomates, you could get it down to around $300.00. there are also people who rent out bedrooms in their homes to students, but even those are around 400-700 a month...for just a room. you might try looking on craigslist.org for sublets and roomates. now would be a good time to start as students are moving out of the city for summer, so things are opening up
