quote:
ORIGINAL: lightshineon I run the tread mill, since feeling better. I was wondering does anyone walk or run it? What speed do you run it on? I use one for my main "cardio" work. quote:
How many times a day, and how long does it take you to do a mile? Once a day, four to six days a week. I'm currently starting back at it, after a layoff. I do a routine that alternates between walking and jogging, based on time, with weekly progression. It starts out in Week 1 with (after a warm-up) a one minute jog (which is 5.0 mph to me) alternated with a five minute walk (which is 3.0 mph to me), for five cycles (30 minutes total). So if my math is right, I'd cover a mile after three of those cycles, so 18 minutes. At Week 4, it alternates 5 minutes jogs with two -and-a-half minutes of walking, so 1 mile would be in about fourteen minutes. At Week 10, it's 30 minutes of startight jogging, so at that point a mile in twelve minutes. From there one just keeps bumping up their mph's. quote:
How high does your heart rate get? I rarely check it, I go by "feel". quote:
My husband says he thinks I go to hard on it? I like it though, I like exercise and endurance. My husband walks it everyday, but thinks speeding it up is not necessary or good. What do you think? I think it varies more by individual goals and individual atttitudes.
