Lexie you are a good Aunt, do you think you could mention what you and nephew spoke about to his mother in a way that's not going to get her back up?

Thanks Nicole. Dh and I have been talking and we don't see there is a way to explain it to the mother without her getting her back up (I already mentioned one thing and she just started rationalizing it away). I'm going to talk to the father because he is easier to talk to about this stuff, he'll just listen and take it in, and Dh is going to talk to him about letting our nephew stay at our place for a bit (not to live, but maybe for the rest of the summer or a few weeks.)

Donna - not how I pictured either of you at all!!!! That's neither good or bad, I just had a completely different idea of what you all looked like!

Ahahahaha....are you further north than I am?

Well my battery is dying which is my cue to get off the computer and get some stuff done around the house. We're in for a very busy week!

Have a wonderful day ladies!

Awww, Christina, too bad on the quitting thing. You can do it! I don't personally know how hard it is, but hubby quit while we were dating, after about 13 years. It's been 4 years for him this summer.

We're doing PowerLab at our church this year too!

We had a pretty good weekend. Friday night we took Chase up to the River and let him walk around, and he had a pretty fun time. Then on saturday we went to a friend's cottage, and spent the day there. We didn't do much, but Chase had a good time, there were lots of kids and dogs there, so he was quite entertained.
Yesterday we spent the day at my mom's house at the pool, and Chase hated it! I thought he would love the pool, but he was really scared.

Today is supposed to get really hot. I'm missing my pool. We didn't set it up this summer because we didn't want it to be in the way if we were building. We have to figure out what we're doing, I'm really missing the pool on hot days like today.

Good morning everyone!

This should be an interesting week. We are dog sitting for my bil's totally huge Burmese Mtn. dog. He is a sweet dog and actually slightly cowed by our little shih tzu....but he is bigger than all of my kids and they think he is soooo entertainng and that is making our little doggy jealous...oh boy, the fun never stops around here! I hope my brand new vac. doesn't get perma-dog-stink from sucking up ALL THAT HAIR

Lexie, keep loving your nephew, he is blessed to have you all.

Donna, great pics!

Christina, I totally get toddler hounding of the keyboard! When you get your wireless one, give him the other one to use and let him work with you.

Chelle, I'm glad you enjoyed your dinner with your neighbors. Is she at home, too? Have you thought about training the 13yo to be your mother's helper? I sure wish we would connect with people in our neighborhood...we've been here a year now and....no friends yet.

Jessica, I'm so happy for you! Enjoy every moment of this special time.

Jen, where are you from? Did you know anyone when you moved there?

Oh my, mondays are lazy around here. My house looks like a tornado came through, because we only stopped in to sleep and then leave again. There is stuff everywhere. Yeesh.
I better get to work before it gets hot!

Yolanda- out of curiosity, what do you consider "really hot"? I know that differs widely depending on how far north or south you are?

I have so.much.laundry. today- where did it all come from? Speaking of which, I think the washer just turned off...

LOL...okay, so now do tell how you pictured me/us. People rarely are the same as the picture I make up in my head either. I don't know where my mind gets these things...

And yes, I know you don't live in igloos. But the last time I was in Mississippi, someone said something about all the Eskimos in Canada. I almost laughed my head off. The only difference I see in Canada is the metric system. Otherwise, y'all could almost pass for Americans, or more specifically, northern NYers.

Jennifer, my laundry pile exploded over the weekend too. Yay.

We need to do some cleaning around here too. For the last week and a half I feel like we've hardly been home. Two weeks ago Tuesday my parents were in Chicago to visit my grandparents. Between work in the late afternoon and then a VBS a block from my parents' house we were gone from 2:00-9:00 every evening. Then last week I had other errands/meetings that I felt like I was out running every day. We just kind ofcrashed all weekend.

I stand corrected...he is a Bernese....aren't they beautiful? Although its kind of like living with a small pony in my house...

We moved to the west coast from the east coast of FL. My Dad & SM and Sis & her fam are all withing 45mins of our new home. That is really nice, but they have very different lifestyles in the day to day, and I haven't been real successful in meeting anyone around here. I know we will eventually....

Today, really hot is 30C/86F Later this week it's supposed to go up to 35C/95F
My favorite weather is 22-25C degree weather (75-80F) I don't deal well with heat, I do not like it at all.

I just vacuumed the kitchen and living room, and the whole time, Chase sat on the floor watching and clapping his hands. I wonder if he's trying to tell me something?

That he likes the sound of the vacuum cleaner

I'm sure he's not happy you are vacuuming up any snacks for him down there.

Thinking out loud here, pardon me...

Before the new baby is born, we need to...
-sort through the toys, weeding out some to sell, some to trash, and some to keep
-sort through a bunch of clothes, getting them in their right size bins, and getting rid of what we don't need
-get fall clothes ready to be switched out, so I don't have to do that with a newborn and two other little ones
-finish painting Hannah's new bed (purple ) and maybe walls (a nice, springy green) (Brian is doing this...the bed at least will be done before baby is here)
-get newborn clothes out and washed (have to figure out how to do this without siblings figuring out which gender we're having...but I don't want to wash BOTH gender's clothes!) Maybe just wash a few of each for the first few days and then have the rest of it ready to wash when we get home with baby?
-get Nick's new room ready (has to be done by the 17th)
-all my VBS registration duties (VBS is July 21-25th)
-all my golf tournament flag sponsor duties (tournament is Aug 23rd...less than 2 weeks before my due date)
-keep up on all the basic house stuff...dishes, laundry, floors, etc.

I need a nap after listing all that.

Jen, my hubby and I are originally from the west central part of Florida...near Tampa. I am not a Florida fan though now that I have lived in Georgia (truly southern compared to FL). I miss my family and the beach, but that is it.

Oh about the neighbors daughter being a mother's helper, I haven't thought of it. I don't really feel like I need that right now, but maybe when I have two. I like my space too so I don't know that I would like having someone else here trying to help me other than hubby or my mom. I am funny like that.

Today I have a ton of cleaning and laundry to do before we leave Wednesday for vacation. We spent an hour outside this morning and now Hunter is entertaining himself. Loving it! Tonight after dinner we are going to run to Target to pick up a smaller, travel friendly high chair to take with us. Our high chair is one that straps to a chair, but it is still rather large to travel with. I also wanted to look for some summer clothes since I now have birthday money.

Hey Donna...I have an idea...I'll come pick up the baby clothes for ya, and have them all washed and ready to go, that way, they're all clean and the sibs won't figure out what you're having.
How's that?

Yolanda- okay, that's hot. I'm from PA, so 70 or above is warm to me. We had to live in VA while my dad was in OCS and the lifeguard at the pool would cover himself in towels and wear a hooded sweatshirt pulled around his face and glare at us (me and a couple girls from South Dakota) whenever we would swim and it was less than 78 Pansy man!

It.is.hot. Our low last night was 76. I took the girls out at 8:30 and had to make them come in at 9- I just can't take it!!! It's not even the temp so much as it is still in the 80's, but the 90% humidity ALL the time is killer!

yeah, I really can't stand the humidity either. It makes such a difference in what the temp feels like.

Yeah, I know what you mean. My mom kept suggesting it to me when I was pg with #2 and I felt just like you. Now, however, I would *love* to find a nice tween and train her into the perfect babysitter! lol. I would never leave any teenager with my three rowdies without first spending a lot of time with me at home first....so...needless to say...no babysitters for me right now.

We work with our youth group at church and there is one 16 year old that we have had babysit for us. We know her well and trust her completely so we do have a reliable babysitter for now. I know once she starts dating she will still be reliable, but most likely unavailable.

Whoa, what a day so far. Hunter is just being a...how shall we say this nicely...booger? He is into everything from dog food, to pulling the straw stuff out of my ficus trees, to throwing computer paper around, to messing with the printer, etc. He is entertaining himself, but with the wrong things and I am trying to clean up. I am in a yuck mood so it is not a good combination and I need it to be nap time already. Ok, my vent is over!

Donna, are you going to paint both bunks? or just the one. I have to tell ya... When David first realized that we were getting rid of the bunks he was really sad. When he heard that you guys were getting them, he was really happy. He said that it made him feel good to know where they were going, and that they were going to a good home. He didn't even mind that his beloved bunk beds were going to be made girly. He just really liked that Hannah was going to love them like he did. If you need help painting them I will be back next week.

But Donna, what if you're wrong again, and you wash all the wrong clothes?

I've got a bunch of laundry to do, and the kitchen floor needs to be cleaned, and.... I need a nap. I had a prenatal visit, and I wasn't happy with my weight gain, but the midwife seemed like she wasn't worried. Besides, I've been feeling very yucky today.

At least Nathan is down for a nap now, and he had lots of fun playing with my mom.

We will paint both bunks, but I'm not sure if both will be done now. I think we're only going to set up one because I won't be able to keep Levi off the top if we set them both up and with Hannah and the baby sharing a room, there isn't room to have them separate.

Brian has done two coats of primer to the headboard and one of the rails. Those two are ready for paint now...and we decided on a deep purple. He'll prime the footboard and the other rail this week and probably paint next week. We're going to do the window and door frames that same purple.

Well, then we'll do what we did before, and my mom will come and wash a load while I'm in the hospital. I'm pretty sure the doctor is right this time though.
