WhiteRoseBlessings -> Freezing brownies (5/13/2008 12:58:06 PM)

Is it possible?

Is the quality decreased from doing so?

The guy that mows all the lawns in my neighborhood did an unsolicited favor for me a couple weeks ago. He didn't want any money from it so I thought I'd bake him brownies.

Since I don't know what day he comes next, I start the brownies whenever I hear him out and about in the neighborhood; but by the time I get them baked and cooled, he's already gone again.

He just left (again). I just now took the brownies out of the oven. [8|]

This is getting pretty pricey . . . not to mention the sacrifice that I'm making of eating the brownies so they don't go to waste (although, I'm now in danger of them going to waist; mine specifically).

I think people are beginning to wonder about me. LOL
A few days ago, I left brownies at the doorsteps of two neighbors and then gave some to some total strangers.

If this keeps up, I may end up on the 6 o'clock news . . . and not in a very positve light. [sm=pinkhairsmile.gif]

SO . . . these brownies that are cooling . . . can I freeze them without harming them in any way?

Thanks, y'all!

Yes, wrap them well. [:)]

I am currently avoiding chocolate, otherwise I'd offer to come and help you eat them. [8D]

WhiteRoseBlessings -> RE: Freezing brownies (5/13/2008 1:11:40 PM)

In what?

Saran wrap?

Foil?

Parchment paper (and then something else)?

Should I wrap them individually?

I know I must appear obsessive . . . it's probably cuz I am.
[:D]

I just don't want them to not be good after I thaw them out.

Absolutely not.

Fedex them to me immediately.

Focusing -> RE: Freezing brownies (5/13/2008 1:14:19 PM)

LOL Kerr!!!

Saran Wrap each individually, then toss them in a freezer ziploc.

(Can you tell I've done stuff like that before? Maybe I'm obsessive ... nah!!)

That what I love about you, Kerr! You always tell me the truth about things.

Ellie-Mae -> RE: Freezing brownies (5/13/2008 1:15:37 PM)

did you start this thread just to torture us?

WhiteRoseBlessings -> RE: Freezing brownies (5/13/2008 1:22:14 PM)

OK . . . Can I wrap them and put them in the freezer while they're still slightly warm or do they have to completely cool?

Can you be here in 5 minutes? [:D]

Yes. [sm=icon_smile_tongue.gif]

You wanna talk torture?

I'm the one that's gonna hafta live with the knowledge that brownies are now residing in my freezer . . . and I'm the one that's gonna hafta remember that they're not for me. [sm=crystreams.gif]

Ellie-Mae -> RE: Freezing brownies (5/13/2008 1:23:36 PM)

let them cool completely so they won't get soggie.

I don't feel sorry for you.[;)]

Focusing -> RE: Freezing brownies (5/13/2008 1:24:17 PM)

Definitely allow them to cool completely. Otherwise they will sweat inside the saran wrap and make them soggy, in which case you might as well eat them all now.

Or FedEx them to Kerr ...

Focusing -> RE: Freezing brownies (5/13/2008 1:25:20 PM)

LOL ... identical advice from two brilliant minds.

Now you know you're on the right track. [:D]

WhiteRoseBlessings -> RE: Freezing brownies (5/13/2008 1:26:08 PM)

heehee . . . the very same answer for the very same reason!

Y'all ARE brilliant! [sm=dance.gif]

That wasn't very nice. [sm=frog.gif]

Keep that up and I'll start another food thread.

Focusing -> RE: Freezing brownies (5/13/2008 1:26:52 PM)

about making homemade fudge?

WhiteRoseBlessings -> RE: Freezing brownies (5/13/2008 1:29:41 PM)

LOL!

That, I've never done.

Have you?

Focusing -> RE: Freezing brownies (5/13/2008 1:31:10 PM)

Yes. But I will warn you ... it's dangerous.

Because the temptation is soooooo great. I quit doing it years ago. [8|]

I'm actually trying not to bake anymore . . . well except for when I have company or when someone does an unexpected favor for me, or when it's someone's birthday or anniversary or, when someone needs a celebration in their life, or when someone needs an encouragement, or when it's raining, or when it's sunny, or when someone wants me to fed-ex them some goodies . . . but other than that . . .

Focusing -> RE: Freezing brownies (5/13/2008 1:38:10 PM)

LOL

I'm done baking until November. It's too hot for me to heat up the place by baking. So I'm safe for a while.

WhiteRoseBlessings -> RE: Freezing brownies (5/13/2008 1:40:25 PM)

I don't do any holiday baking. - really, can ya believe it?

Well, I guess I should go clean up my kitchen.

I wish these brownies would hurry and cool; the aroma is driving me insane!

OH!!!! Wait! Lawn man just came back into the neighborhood. Please pray he stays until I can give him the brownies.

peculiar_lady2 -> RE: Freezing brownies (5/13/2008 5:31:19 PM)

I freeze brownies all the time...and they turn out fine heated in the microwave!!! I like to use the stone cookie sheet with sides to bake them in (cause the sides stay nice and moist and don't get hard!!!), but to do it and make them the right thickness I have to use two packages of brownie mix at a time. So We put most of them in the freezer. As the others said...individually wrap in plastic wrap (or freezer paper) and place in a zip top baggie or plastic bowl with a lid. When you reheat them it works best to cover them with or place in the microwave a wet paper towel (for the moisture).

WhiteRoseBlessings -> RE: Freezing brownies (5/13/2008 5:32:52 PM)

Is it ok to just let then air-thaw?

(As the only reason I would probably be freezing brownies is if I were baking them for someone else).

Sure, I'd probably prefer it over nuking them.

WhiteRoseBlessings -> RE: Freezing brownies (5/13/2008 7:56:58 PM)

I'm thinking that if the opportunity every presents itself again that I would take them out of the freezer, unwrap them and put them on a plate with a paper towel underneath them and then let them air thaw (with perhaps a paper towel over them as well). How does that sound to you?
