I used to use the bath as a time-out area when my ds was that age (no water in it, lol). Our bathroom was downstairs next to our kitchen so it meant I could get on with jobs while still being close by.

We discovered one thing, if she has tight britches or a one piece PJ's on or her shoes on; she can't stand on her tippy-toes and get the other leg high enough to get on the sofa; she just isn't tall enough. 
Anyway, I asked mostly because of the age factor; I do not remember any of ours climbing like this before they were a few months over the age of two; when they were tall enough and more award of surrounding objects.

BTW, I may be a grand and great-grandmother, but I got here by raising '3' of our own children, and I've baby-sat '4' (one set of twins) out of '8' of our grand babies until they were each 4 years old and went to Day Care --- I'm Not stupid, Out-Dated, or Behind-the-times; "There is NOTHING new under the sun."; and I do take offense when I'm made to feel that I need to be 'taught' about little ones --- as a few of you have made me feel.

My dd was walking at 9 months; by 18 months she was climbing everywhere, including (with an adult or teen standing behind her) up the steps of an extremely high slide in the children's playground outside church!

We are all parents here. We all share our difficulties and the things we know that might help. That IS why you posted, isn't it? But when people offer their help you are offended? I think that's a choice you have made, not anything anyone in this thread has said. I have seen helpful information, ideas to use in your problem-solving, and stories of similar struggles. Nowhere has anyone insulted you as you claim.

Some of them sure do give us a run for our money! I found Nate at about that age, on top of a ladder that was being stored in my grandmother's garage. They are so fast! Brandon climbed before he could crawl, and I still don't quite understand how it was possible, lol. But I do know that I found him on a table.

You are right of course; others should be able to glean beneficial information from these forum threads and posts. It's just that I take/took the words "Pat" and "you" far too personal; I seem to be wearing my sensitivities and feelings of getting old, and being treated like I should be put out to pasture, by the younger generation, on my sleeves lately. I'm sorry.
