Concerto -> Heaven... (5/16/2008 1:34:21 PM)

I hear that heaven will be a place of no more pain and no more tears. Eventually, we will all receive glorified bodies. Does that mean, there will not be the potential for things to go wrong?

For example, when in a glorified body, walking around, could I fall and hurt myself?

Just wondering...

It will be perfect Concerto. Beyond anything you can even imagine perfect to be. There will be no pain or suffering there. God will wipe away our tears, and I am sure they will only be tears of joy and never tears of sadness.

Peace

You know, while things certainly will be perfect, I don't think minor mishaps like that will be entirely out of the question. We will most certainly have glorified bodies, but an entire lack of sin does not mean that they won't be just that - bodies. Tripping isn't sinful, heh. But I do believe that, as is sadly sometimes the case, if we do trip it will never lead to something that is genuinely painful.
I also think heaven will be much different than, perhaps, many Christians have been taught (or at least, what I was taught for most of my life). I do not believe we will be standing around the throne of God singing for all eternity (though if that were the case, it would still be more awesome than we can possibly imagine right now). God did not create us using a cookie-cutter, so, I think we will spend eternity glorifying God, but we will be doing it by being the people God made us to be. If we are artists, we will glorify God by creating art; if a musician, by making music; if an architect, by designing structures - and all this will be so much more fulfilling for us and glorifying to God than our pursuits here on earth.

As long as there's a never ending supply of Oreos and peanut butter, I'll be happy...[;)]

How can one describe the beauty of Heaven? True peace? Pure perfection? We may be able to define these words as we see them here on earth; but it may be different up above. I am not saying that we will be disappointed; just the opposite of that. I believe one would not be able to put into words the beauty of what is to come. I try not to think of what Heaven is like, nor what I expect it to be. I want it to be a surprise!
