Wings, for the most part, dominated the Pens.

Now, how long is it to October and the start of the 08-09 hockey season? I have my deposit on my 29 game mini-pack sent in and am waiting for select a seat in July,

Well, congratulations to the Wings and their fans for their cup win!

The Penguins just didn't play with enough fire in their bellies to win it. Their lack of agressiveness in playing the Wings cost them as the Wings weren't shy about getting in the way of anyone carrying the puck! They also weren't shy when they were driving towards the net.

I kind of knew they were going to lose when they couldn't convert on a 5 on 3 power play in the first period. They were too lethargic on that power play to get any good chances and with two men who should have been in the open they should have had a bundle.

The Wings just shut down the offense of the Pens.

Here in Canesland, the front office has called an afternoon news conference for Glenn Welsey to announce he is hanging up the skates. Great guy and good Christian witness. For his day with the Cup, he brought it to his church.

One thing I didn't post is that he took the Cup to a nearby military base to share it with the "wounded warriors."

The Canes announced his jersey will be retired at some game next season. He will be staying with the Canes front office and will be in charge of d-man development. (Boy do we need to do this)

Congrats to the Wings!

If only the SJ Sharks could hire a coach to take them to the next level.

Paul Maurice and Torts are both available.

Maurice is a defensive minded coach and his teams play boring hockey.
Torts may be a better fit.

Hockey is not quite over yet...

Game 5 of the Calder Cup finals coming up tomorrow, I believe. Wolves up 3-1 in games over the Wilkes-Barre Penguins.

Go Wolves!

...and this might be for another thread, so feel free to start one.

How do all the rabid hockey fans on this board respond as Christians to the movie "Slap Shot"?

It was my favorite film as a rabid young (and non-Christian) hockey fan back in the 1980's. After becoming a Christian in 1986, I set it aside and lost interest in it (mainly due to the abundant profanity).

I happened to see it again recently, and while I don't approve of the language, there are many genuinely funny moments that I found myself laughing at again.

Maybe not something to pump your mind with on a continual basis, but seeing it again brought back a flood of memories.

Feel free to respond with your thoughts here, or on another post.

Blessings, Blind Lemon

The snipers in hockey are a little safer on the ice since the Dominator retired!

Two rings and one Olympic Gold from Nagano. Great career and thanks for the memories!

Q. What is the difference between the Dominator and the Terminator?
A. The Dominator WON'T be Back!

Game 6 of the Calder Cup finals tonight....and I'm trying to get tickets!

The Wolves have lost the last two after winning the first three, so here they are, back in town for a sixth game.

Go Wolves! Beat the (Wilkes-Barre) Pens!
