Little Big Man - hard to tell. Is it trying to be a historical epic, a comedy or a morality tale about how white people treated native Americans? Hard to tell. Decent though.

Also rewatching the Star Wars trilogy, current watching Empire.

slumdog millionaire -- very good. loved the filmwork/ cinematography and the way the narrative worked. i was worried it would be too foreign and therefore exoticized, but they didn't make the poverty the point of the movie. i loved the various themes: the whole "experience is the best teacher", and the purposefullness of the main character. dev patel should have received an oscar nom, i think. 4.5/5

knocked up -- ummm...well, here we go. naturally, there's a lot of language, and a lot of sex and drug stuff so it's really not for everyone. that being said, however, there is a soft spot underneath all that. it's a movie about responsibility and working through differences and commitment. and forgive me - there were quite a few spots where i howled (howled, i tell you) with laughter. a lot of the movie rings so true with me because of my own past. 3.5/5

Funny you mentioned that. I love this movie also. My friend's co worker who's from India who refused to watch the movie because she's thinking that the movie showed nothing but poverty in India but then this lady came from 'wealth' and thinks that it's degrading the country. I told my friend that her coworker is mistaken...this movie showed 'hope' and just not giving up at all.

We went to see Monsters vs Aliens on Friday. Good movie.

I made the mistake of getting the large popcorn and 2 medium drinks combo. I forgot how big and expensive the large popcorn is. I just saw combo with 2 drinks which is enough for us to share. My wife and I couldn't believe how much popcorn our soon to be 2 year old ate. He and our 8 year old also enjoyed the movie.

I saw "House" (the movie based on the book by Frank Pretti and Ted DEKkER, not the TV show) and "Fireproof"yesterday. Can't say I was too impressed with either. Although a part in Fireproof did make me laugh because it reminded me of one of my friends.

I saw House too...did not care much about it. There were a few jumpy moments in the beggining but then it just went flat.
The day the earth stood still- it was not bad but it was not good also ....so I guess it's okay.
Lakeview Terrace- great acting from Samuel Jackson and Patrick Wilson...he's a hottie.
Bedtime Stories- very cute movie.

Took our 2 oldest girls to see Hannah Montana - it was a really good, family friendly movie!

Face

Not to be confused with a few other movies of a similar title, Face is described as a Korean genre hybrid between CSI and a traditional Asian spookfest. Personally, I think Face would have been a much better, compelling thriller if they had left the movie primarily as a police procedural--and skip out the K-Horror/J-horror aspect that reeks of the ripoff game of password, "(The) Ring!"

So in a rating scale of 4 stars... something like 2--and I'm probably being too charitable!

Recently watched movies:

7 Pounds - ugh. The love story part was OK, but I figured out what was going to happen in the first five or ten minutes of the movie... so, I spent the rest of the time suffering through it (and hoping there would be a twist at the end. surely they wouldn't leave the movie so predicable?). terrible concept.

Faith Like Potatoes - One of the best movies on faith I have ever seen. The acting is a bit so-so, but it's a foreign film and that usually makes a movie "feel" different anyway. However it had the best message of any movie I've seen in a very long time.

Death Race - predictable, but aren't most action movies these days? I like Jason Statham though so I watched it.

Quantam of Solace - one of the better bond movies I've seen in a while, but it needed more gadgets.

Was it the anniversary edition of the DVD?

No i think it was just a special edition that came out when DVD was getting going. I don't have it with me at this moment to look at it.

I am about halfway through the Spielberg-produced miniseries Into The West. It's pretty good if you like Western epics like me. Netflix has it.

Xmen Origins: Wolverine - I enjoyed it immensely. Better actions than any of the other Xmen movies. If you liked the Xmen trilogy, you'd enjoy this one more.

Three Bruce Lee films in a row. The action is good and the dubbed dialogue is hilarious, but I still wouldn't recommend doing that.

I just saw The Soloist, very moving story and lots to think about as a believer in the resurrected Messiah. Only drawback were the 25+ minutes of previews and commercials before actual movie began.. (Drussell52)

Little Manhattan

Very sweet movie about a young boy who has his first crush on a girl he's grown up with.

Great family movie with no cursing or sexual scenes with only a couple of minor theme issues....SPOILERS:

one is regarding his parents who are going through a divorce but the mom is dating.

And the other is the girl the boy is in love with is the flower girl at a wedding where the "bride" is several months pregnant and showing - this caused my 6 year old to ask "wow she's going to have a baby so fast" LOL! Which we then said, not wanting to push the issue, "yeah sometimes it happens really fast after you're married" .

Seems we're gonna have to really screen even some of the most innocent of movies if we want to avoid "the talk" for a while .
