A Hard Day's Night. I had never seen it all before. Enjoyed all the British humor.

Somemore That Come Out Tuesday:
12 Rounds- Good. Was a bit shakey in seeing it cause the reviews were not that great for it plus being a hugh John Cena Fan I thought it was worth a look

Street Fighter: The Legend Of Chun-li- Good. Didn't see it all cause I was doing the dishes but saw most of it. Good Fighting scenes in it.

The Code- Definetly one of the better ones comeing out this week. Full of Twists and Turns plus it has Morgan Freeman in it.

Stone Of Destiny- Movie of the week in my opinion. True Story as well

Columbis Day- Interesting. Very Action Packed

I.O.U.S.A.- Interesting.

Saw a bunch yesterday at work:

The Lake House - better than I thought it was going to be but not much
Crank - very coarse but interesting action flick
Entrapment - decent
Blood Diamond - long and somewhat preachy but ok

starting Catch Me If You Can.

Memories of Murder

South Korean rural and city cops search in vain for the country's first serial killer/rapist, spanning from 1986-1991 (right around the Gen. Chun junta years). It's a bit darkly comical as it is intensely creeping, engrossing drama, given that the investigation was so incompetently botched that to this very day, it remains as the Korea's most infamous cold case file (some of the blame can be heaped on the military government of the time). Based on actual events...

Year One. The worst movie I've seen in a very long time. Just bad on every level imaginable. Tasteless, offensive, twisted. Outright twists of scripture - Adam and Eve had a gay daughter, the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil produced the same results as being high, Isaac was a weed-smoking kid who hung out in Sodom, Cain showed up in Sodom, Sodom was not destroyed but remained standing as the heroes left it. Literal toilet humor (including someone eating feces - yes feces), and much more.

Bad on a technical level too. No sense of story coherence - a guy is getting squeezed to death by a snake, then the next scene jumps to a campfire with the guy looking just fine chatting with someone else. Things like this happened throughout the movie. Bad script, bad story line. Just an all around horrible piece of work and a total and complete waste of time, energy, acting talent, and money (mine and the studios).

Don't go to see it at night, at the matinee, don't rent it, don't look at it when it comes on cable, or when it is free on broadcast television. If you are at someone else's house and they want to watch it - it might be a good time to leave early. Trust me - it is that bad.

Well, just about any movie with Jack Black, especially in the leading role, is bound to blow in my rule book... except possibly, JUST possibly with his doomed role in The Jackal!

Oh man, this movies looked sooo funny on the previews...and I expected it to misconstrue the scriptures, it's Jack Black. I'm still going to have to see it with my own eyes though

OK, but you can't say you weren't warned . You might want to read what the critics said about it too to prepare yourself. Very few positive reviews.

Confession of a Shopaholic- it's alright. It's a chick flick. Very predictable.

The Boy in Striped Pajama- very sad movie. Halfway through the movie, you'll have an idea on what's to happen at the end.

Agitator (a.k.a, Outlaw Souls)

Quite possibly one of Takashi Miike's most straight-laced, non-subversive (read: gross-out content) yakuza films in recent memory. Even with its generic story of mafia political infighting, double-crosses, honorable revenge, etc... there's something to be said of the seemingly slower-than-usual pacing of this 150 minute-long movie, focusing more on character development (as the genre plotting progresses). If anything, it (the movie) probably is meant to showcase the other reality of Yakuza life: it's mainly a very slow, boring series of business dealings--not unlike what one might see in Mike Judge's Office Space(!), which explains why the cinematography suggests a documentary format. The ending however... leaves much to the imagination, i.e, abrupt end(?).
*watch for the director's cameo role in the film's only shocking scene, involving... um, "an obscene use of a karaoke mike!"

I'll be reviewing the swashbuckle spectacle, Le Bossu (On Guard)...

Food Inc.

Made almost in the same stylistic venue of (Morgan Spurlock's) Super-Size Me!, I came in with whatever sense of objectivity/critical thinking to this documentary, expecting/knowing full well of whatever preachiness from this currently-chic genre, so to speak (check out the ending if you will). But ever since I became an Anthony Bourdain-styled foodie, I've acquisition much of his views of culinary opinions (regarding farm-raised vs. naturally-raised food, chain restaurants, etc...)--never mind the fact that this is the same, libertine/libertarian Bourdain that enjoys voicing his contempt for vegetarianism, and possibly gun-control politics (where hunting tasty game is concerned). I guess that's why I was able to watch Food Inc. with somewhat more, psychologically/politically advantageous angle, by not going all stereotypically reactionary at Eric(?) Schlosser's work.

But I guess in order to further critique Food Inc. in a much more personalized, nuanced level, I will have to start a new thread (regarding some of the politics--especially as a recent "convert" to Jonah Goldberg-styled conservatism!).

I agree with this. Before I was a Christian it was all gobbledegook to me and I felt that it was a myth for the most part. After salvation this all changed.
