I'm hoping a few people will post their comments on this request! I want to get to know all of you better!

My favorite color...

...is a jewel tone

...is one I can't get away from. I've tried to change it, but I can't!

...has been conscripted by a lifestyle choice I would never make...so I have to be careful how I use it.

...is on my bedroom walls, which is something it couldn't be if I were married.

shallbe

I'm certainly curious now. It sort of sounds like pink, but I didn't know about the lifestyle thing.

What about yours, Pam? Can you make a comment about your favorite color? It's ok to tell what it is if you want to...but might be more fun to see if we can guess.

Anybody else able to guess mine?

(pink is close...)

Okay, I'll play.

Let's see. Soft but bright, cheery but not loud, definitely feminine. One of the dominant colors in my house. Think Reese Witherspoon. Okay, that probably gave it away.

Esther - purple?

Gah! You guessed it. Do you get the "lifestyle" reference now?

You...I'll bet it's...peach? That's cheery, and soft, anyway. And many people have it in their houses.

My favorite color is a deep emerald green.

Have owned a few pieces of clothing in the color over the years but that's about it.

I have a lovely shirt that color, Bountiful. I don't wear it much because it is long-sleeved and I live in Central Texas. But everyone says I look wonderful in it.

Do you have any rooms in your house painted that color, or perhaps the outside?

No, I can't say it every was included in any "lifestyle" themes.

When I was a teenager, I always wanted a fall wedding with the bridesmaids wearing emerald green gowns and having while fur muffs instead of flowers.

Needless to say, it didn't happen that way, but I still think it was an original idea.

Yes, that does sound beautiful, Edith.

Esther, yes, I get the "lifestyle" thing now. Phooey. Why do they have to do that?

And for me - wrong, but peach is beautiful. That was the color theme of my previous (married) house.

About my hint - did you see "Legally Blonde"?

ETA: I thought of another hint - Steel Magnolias.

Now wait a minute...I could have sworn you told me you were never married, Pam???

I haven't seen "Legally Blonde", but I have seen "Steel Magnolias". Unfortunately, it still doesn't help. Boy, I'm dense, eh? Help me out a little more, here...

No, I was married for 15 years, and have been divorced for 21 now.

Okay, in Steel Magnolias, Shelby said something was her signature color. Remember the conversation about the different shades at Truvy's beauty salon?

Oh, and you just MUST see Legally Blonde!

See, I KNEW this would help me get to know you better!

Alright...I'll have to replay the movie in my head or get it again. I didn't watch it the first time primarily for entertainment. It was a part of a class on communications that I was taking, so I was a little distracted by watching for clues to the assignment.

As far as "Legally Blonde" goes...well, I have quite a list of movies to watch with my girls on the Netflix just now, but if I'm ever planning on having a weekend all to myself, I'll be sure to put that one on the list to watch!

You said the color is "cheery", so that means it would likely be a warm color and not a cool color...am I right as far as that goes?

UPDATE: Got it. I googled the phrase "Shelby's signature color" and got....

PINK!

Am I right?

edited for update

Oh, good! We are always looking for things to watch together. In fact, jus last night we watched one of our favorites again. It's an old Danny Kaye, very funny, called The Court Jester.

You should check it out sometime!

Golly, the last party I went to was in 2000 when I went to my pastor's house for a Christmas party. (I had just changed churches.) They had a "white elephant" exchange. Not sure that qualifies as a game, but I loved that.

Mike; I just last week bought a specialty coffee creamer that came in the prettiest teal bottle. It is International Delight Vanilla Caramel Brownie. The creamer was good (though don't expect it to taste like brownie--weird) but the bottle was really pretty!

I didn't know Mafia was a the name of a party game...I thought it was just a FB game?

About a month ago we went to Kentucky to see my daughter and her new husband. They kept telling us about a great game they had played at a party just the week before our visit. Finally we sat down and played it...and it was TOOO FUN!

I'm wondering if anyone here has ever played it...it's called Apples to Apples.

I like word games like that one and Scrabble. I like Monopoly, too, when there is lots of time to play it right.

Hi There Shallbe, it can be played in groups. I have in the past and it was a lot of fun! Its amazing the banter that goes on because nobody in the group knows who the mafia person or the detectives are and you dialogue with the group as to who the killer might be?

That does sound fun, Mike. Does it have a board or any kind of materials?

No, you just pull pieces of paper out of a hat: 1 is the narrator, 2 are the mafia, 2 are the detectives, and the rest are the civilians.

Boy, I've had a rough few days! Not physically, but it has made me physically sore, anyway! Weird.

Isn't it interesting how things can be going along very smoothly and then all of a sudden six or more different things go rocky in ONE DAY? That's what happened to us yesterday.

But, 'tis over.

And I have a question...

If you had to move, and could take only three things with you, what would you take?

Well, I'm talking to myself, here, but that's ok...nothing really new in my life. I'm often the only person in the room, and I've become accustomed to chatting with myself.

So...here's the answer I pondered to my own question.

I believe that if I were moving and could only take three things, I would choose:

My blackberry

My church tote (has bible, notebook, pens/pencils)

My kids.

Those choices may seem odd and in the wrong order: My kids come first. I realize that there are two of them still at home, so perhaps you think that is cheating. If I could not take them both, I would give up the blackberry.

But here is my reasoning behind choosing those things. As the question bounced around in that hollow space affectionately called a mind, it dawned on me that we are all going to be moving sometime. Even those who live on the old homestead all their lives will be moving eventually...to the cemetery. What will I be able to take with me when I move to heaven?

God and His Word will be where I'm going. The more I have stored in my heart, the more familiar Heaven is going to feel.

It's my responsibility to make sure my kids have had the opportunity to move to the same country. I've done my best to raise them in the nurture and admonition of the Lord, and anticipate that they will be with me there in Heaven someday.

And that's true about the rest of my family and friends: I want to be sure they are all there in the end. So taking my blackberry lets me stay in touch with them now and represents having them join me in Heaven one day as well.

What would you take?

shallbe
