[my scales have budged in well ... 1 1/2 weeks. but I'm doing all the right things and I'm healthier so I'm going to keep trudging along.../quote] FunBetty, trudging along is what is actually going to get you to where you want to go! I have really become an advocate of the phrase, "All you can do is ALL you can do. Leave the rest to God." We are in the midst of trying to find a house to rent for our family all while staying in the same neighborhood or at least one where all 3 of my children's different schools are accommodated, all while making sure it has enough room for all 4 boys, a place for their bikes, and enough storage space for us, all while making sure it has a big enough yard for rambunctious boys, all while making sure it is in a better neighborhood, all while making sure there are no obnoxious neighbors (we already have our fair share of those here), all while making sure we stay within our budget, which is less than it seems to need to be in order to accomplish all the above. It is only through a miracle of our Lord that I won't gain 500 lbs before this fete is accomplished lol! I make it fine until late afternoon and then I could literally eat us out of house and home (or at least half a jar of peanut butter in the meantime) and then after dinner, I'm fine again. It's like all the stress comes out right then and I am doing pretty well not completely giving in to it, but it is SO HARD. So, FunBetty, i'm trudging along, right there with you, and knowing that I'm working hard at my workouts, 5 days a week at least, and I'm doing the best I can with my eating, so I'm bound to make some progress some time. . . At least I hope i will LOL!

We've had the Wii Fit for 3 days now and my thighs are KILLING me! LOL It's a good pain, I guess, of muscles that haven't been used much being used. I'm not sure if I should keep exercising through the pain, if it's okay to push more, or if I should just keep to a lower level until I get past the soreness? Thoughts? I am also doing the exercise bike at least 15 minutes a day, but aiming for at least 30. Ouch! LOL I'm not purposely changing what I'm eating, but I am finding myself not wanting as much junk food because then what is the point of working out, KWIM? Plus, I think the zoloft might be starting to work (started last Wednesday), so maybe that is helping with the stress eating? Anyway, I'm not counting calories or worrying about that stuff, just working on better portion sizes and lots of fruits, veggies, and whole grains, which we have been doing already.

I took the hula record! lol - woman with the hips wins! I have the hula record too! LOL Actually, I have the top 5 on that one. Brian gets a kick out of watching me do that one. I didn't do either the Wii or the bike today, so hopefully that was what my body needed. I did walk all over the science museum today, complete with many ramps, so I didn't just sit around either.

I vote for taking it a bit easier on the area that's sore. The first few days we had the Wii Fit I hurt my back on it. I think it was the hula hooping. I need to make myself get back on the Fit- by the time I get home from work I'm just wiped, or its time for dinner and I can't do it right after I eat. I love the yoga part though- very relaxing, even though my balance is horrendous for any of the one-legged poses.

I hate the yoga. My balance is good, but I just can't hold the poses as long as they want you to. Actually, the Wii has been encouraging to me. It keeps telling me my balance is great and that I am strong. So even though I'm fluffy, I am not wimpy. I knew that, but it is nice to hear it, KWIM? I mean, I've spent the past 4 years lugging children around and doing firewood pretty much year round, and now Brian's wheelchair and stuff...I know I am not wimpy. Now to lose some of the fluff...

Donna, a day of rest will do you good, but you don't have to rest until it stops aching. Which I hate. I would much rather workout one day a week I tried another Jillian Michael's dvd on Netflix today, the only bummer with that one is that I need an exercise step. Other then that, it's a fantastic workout. I love that her videos aren't "girly", they are a real hardcore workout.

Last night at my church lady's book club, we decided on this book for next month: Never Say Diet by Chantel Hobbs We only do Christian books, and Chantel Hobbs (so we were told) is Christian. If you check out the link, be sure to scroll down and check out her short intro video. I'm really excited about reading this, because (1) she's just a normal person, doesn't claim to be anybody special, and (2) she's not stick-thin! (But gorgeous!)

I just bought Leslie Sandson's book about walking fit by faith or something like that. It's a 30 day walking program and comes with a 2 mile walking workout DVD. I didn't watch the DVD today, but I DID walk around the house for 10 minutes. I just got this book last week, along with a few of her other videos, too. Until my heel and my knee are better, I'm trying to stay off the step. Her workouts are not what I would consider "hard core" by any means, but if you move and really try, you can get your intensity up. I love it that they are easy to follow. It's been almost 6 years since I sold my club and almost as long since I did any real formal exercise, so easy to follow is good. The book is ok. No real epiphany-type stuff in it. Seems sort of motivational. I've read better to be honest, but I've read worse, so it's not too bad. I've just had a hard time getting into it. I do enjoy her workouts though, for the most part.

Okay, I've been out of this thread for awhile and I didn't read all of the pages...so, please forgive me if this has been mentioned. On the soda/pop issue...what about Diet Rite? I know it has Splenda which won't work for some people (like Shar-Mar). But...for others....it might work fairly well. We really like it & it's available in TONS of flavors. It can be hard to find at times though.

I've seen studies online that show that drinking diet soda has been linked to weight gain for a few reasons. One study is that some people think that since they're saving calories on the drink they subconsciously eat more calories that balance it out. Other studies show that the sodas increase your appetite. I can find links if people want them. I'm too lazy right now. lol

My goal is to lose around 80 lbs yet quote:
What is your ultimate goal for your body? To get back into shape and lose the extra weight I gained moving here Do you have a plan to get there, or are you looking for one? I have a diet plan given to me by my doctor, it works for me Do you have a time line you're working in to be 'in shape' by? I would love to have lost 30 lbs by this summer If you aren't able to start working out now (pregnant mommas!! ) when do you intend to start reaching your goal? I can't work out right now. My weight has affected my feet and knees, I need to loose about 40 lbs before I can really get into working out Do you have mini-goals set up along the way for yourself? Yes I have mini goals

I want Wii Fit!!! My boss said he'd get it for me as a baby shower gift!! Otherwise we won't be getting it for awhile. Ooooh, if you can get one as a gift, I would go for it lol! I think there are a few other games out right now that use the Wii Fit board, and more planned for the future. I'm so glad we got one. It's been a real help in keeping me motivated. I just got a cover for my board, and it feels sooo soft on my feet. I think it's going to be great to use with the cover on. It's not bad with the cover off by any means, but the stuff the cover is made of is just like the stuff the wii-mote covers are made of. It feels really soft. I love it! YAY! - I just did my 3rd Leslie Sansone video today and it was by far the hardest. (I got a free-shipping deal at Amazon so I got 3 different videos.) It is just under an hour, uses the fitbelt that comes with it and I think really liked it. The only problem is that I am really short. I mean, really short - 5'2" on a good day. The bands that are attached to the belt are a little bit long for me I think, and there's no way that I can see to shorten them up. Of course, we used to tie knots in them at my gym but that only shortens them up by a little bit and then they are a pain to untie as the knots tend to get tighter each time they are used. Oh well, it was a great workout. I'm kind of surprised as I really thought the workouts would all be the same, I mean how many different ways can you do 4 different steps? But, they are really different, and each one seems to focus on a different thing, so I think I really like them so far. Well. . . as much as someone who hates formal exercise can like them that is. I wasn't going to work out today but I kept feeling that prompt and I knew that I had prayed for God to really help me stop being so lazy and so He was giving me what I had asked for. Thank you, Lord!

Lost another 2 pounds this week! I'm on my way to One-derland. Just 7.2 pounds to go and I'll be under 100 for the first time since I was pregnant with Luke. --Kat

Kat, did you mean under 200? I think so... I can't wait to be under 200! Wii says I'm at 212 now, which is a bit less than my doctor's scale said last week. Hopefully that means I lost a little, not that the scale is off.

I don't think I have lost any weight, maybe .5lb, but I knew it would be harder this time then last because I don't really have a ton to lose. My main focus though, is not the weight loss. I want my old, strong, lean body back The one that I knew could dash 100meters in under 13 seconds. Ok, so maybe I won't ever have THAT body back, but I know what I am capable of and it makes me frustrated to see what I have become.

Christine- I hope you get a Wii Fit too! We only were able to get ours because DH entered a contest and won a gift card to GameStop.
