I started taking a class that is yoga/pilates to care for your back. I hate it that I am THE most overweight person in the class. And I am only like 20 pounds overweight. Like really, are the only people with back pain those who are really thin?

Cinderella, I agree with Miss Giggles on that one. I have suffered (needlessly according to some rude doctors) with a bad back from a car accident years ago, and I know that most of the patients in my situation are also overweight. It seems to make the pain so much worse when you are adding extra pounds to the load it already has to carry.

Good job on getting involved in the class anyway. Your back will thank you for it. I think that the majority of people who take yoga are more fit than some of the other classes. That's been my experience, anyway.

Way to go, Betty! Good for you. I have the opposite problem; I was at my "running weight" when I got married and I'm willing to bet I haven't been able to get into it since (not that I've tried).

Nope; when I started going to a yoga/pilates class I was also the most overweight. I think that in general, people who struggle with their weight might be less comfortable with classes; or they want to go for the "harder" classes to get more impact on their weight loss. I still go to yoga/pilates because when I don't, I'm much more prone to injury. Also, it's still a challenging workout. Keep at it! Your back will thank you.

Thoughts on this detox program anyone? So far as I can tell from the reading, its a 21-day "kick start" for a diet- fruits and veggies (plus the supplement powder) for days 1-10, with proteins slowly added back in starting on day 11. After you do the 21 days you're supposed to focus on eating fruits, veggies, and lean meats. I don't see any glaring red flags in the ingredient lists for the supplements. My MIL heard about it from her doctor, and she's doing it and offering to pay for my DH to do it also. DH is hoping it would be a kick start to lose a decent amount of weight quickly, then go from that into South Beach until he gets down to a healthy weight. Just from reading and the ingredient lists I don't see anything that looks off the wall or iffy, but I figured I'd see what you ladies thought.

Looks fine to me, Stacy. I like Standard Process products, they are food derived vitamins which are always a good thing.

I think I lose about 2 more lbs... maybe. The scale says I have but I haven't really been doing anything to lose weight so we'll see if it stays off.

Thanks Ryanne. That's good to know since I don't know anything about the company myself. There are so many not good detox programs out there that I'm wary of everything.

Bumping this because I've started running again. I have a possible goal of completing a marathon in January, but I'm a LONG ways away from that. There is a big one here every year in January, and some people from work are going to do it as a charity benefit for a children's hospital here. Right now I'm trying to start with the c25k again to build up before the "official" training starts in August.
Anyways, I walked/ran (mostly walked) about 2.5 miles yesterday morning before it got really hot, and I had HORRID leg/hip cramps and spasms all day today. I generally get them after I work out, but this was particularly bad, especially given the relatively low level of exercise. A dancer friend of mine suggested taking potassium supplements, and I'm wondering if that might be worth considering. I had water with me and tried to drink extra through yesterday and today, so I don't think it was dehydration.

What is your ultimate goal for your body?

Do you have a plan to get there, or are you looking for one?

Do you have a time line you're working in to be 'in shape' by?

Do you have mini-goals set up along the way for yourself?

Let me know if you think of other good questions that would benefit us all to read the responses!

Hi Paulsbride and everyone else reading this. Loosing weight is such a struggle. I've been struggling with this problem all my life even praying for this daily. Then God revealed to me that it's not all about loosing weight but living a healthier lifestyle which I am now doing. Guess what? I've lost over 25 lbs and still have a little more to go. I don't eat any pork at all. I eat more fish and vegetables and barely eat processed foods. I don't eat out like I used to. I traded coke for fat-free milk. I do get an update from a lot of resources for choosing the right foods and not only did I change my diet but I work-out 6 days a week. All glory goes to the Almighty God for this life change. So to finally to answer your questions (and I apologize for not answering them all) that applies to me, here they are:

1.) My ultimate goal for my body is to be conditioned to run a marathon next year. So far I can jog about 5 miles non-stop. I'm still trying thou.

2.) My plan is a life style change. Eating the right foods and exercising almost daily.

3.) I'm hoping, working on, and praying that by the end of this year.

4.) My mini-goals are to lean and tone up. I do want a little bit of muscle but womanly muscles, not body-builder type (haha). Another mini-goal is being able to do 50 manly push-ups and 50 pull-ups without almost dying (Haha).

Well, I encourage everybody to stick with their goal and their plans to become more healthier and to loose weight as well. I pray that you all will accomplish your goals and keep in mind, ALL GLORY GOES TO THE ALMIGHTY! (Rock out now, mamas~! )

Yup, it would be the Rock and Roll AZ. I know they have the option for the marathon or the half marathon.

I'm debating between the marathon and the half. I'd really like to do the marathon, but I'm afraid it would be biting off more than I could chew. Either way it would be a fundraiser for a children's hospital here.

I am up to 8-10 miles a day but my foot is really hurting but that is because I need a new pair of walking shoes. My kids walk with me and we all are seeing the results of daily exercise and eating right. I have lost a total of 61 pounds 25 of it in the last 2 months I am just 9 pounds away from my first goal.
