March 3rd, 2009 Each tree is recognized by its own fruit. People do not pick figs from thornbushes, or grapes from briers. Luke 6:44

Wednesday - March 25, 2009 Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of his inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy. Micah 7:18

I’d like to hear input on Psalm 138:2, specifically the last phrase. [KJV] I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name. [NASB] I will bow down toward Your holy temple, And give thanks to Your name for Your lovingkindness and Your truth; For You have magnified Your word according to all Your name. [NIV] I will bow down toward your holy temple and will praise your name for your love and your faithfulness, for you have exalted above all things your name and your word. So the AV has “thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name,” but I haven’t yet understood what that means exactly. I know many here have studied Hebrew extensively. Let me know if you have any input, or can point me to a comprehensive exposition of this passage. Thanks.

Let me know if you have any input, or can point me to a comprehensive exposition of this passage. Thanks. In accordance with the custom of godly Jews, David bowed down toward the holy tabernacle when worshipping (the temple had not been erected yet). He extolled the name of Jehovah for His steadfast love and faithfulness. It is His love that prompts Him to give us "His precious and very great promises" and it is His faithfulness that insures that every one of them is fulfilled. "For You have magnified Your word above all Your name." In my studies I believe the context has to do with the faithfulness of God in keeping His word, and the meaning seems to be that He has not only done what He said He would do, but has done much more in addition. Also, there may be the thought that "in the abundant fulfilment of His promise (to David) God had surpassed all previous revelation of Himself. (If the verse is applied to the Incarnate Word, then it means, of course, that God has magnified the Lord Jesus above every manifestation of Himself)

"for You magnified Your word over all Your names": Your name is mighty, jealous, and vengeful, but You magnified Your word, so that You skip over Your standards, over all Your names, and You forgive us. :

With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:8-9 (NIV)

ORIGINAL: Trinity_3persons The Lord answered Job out of the storm. He said.... .... Where were you when I laid the earth's foundation? Tell me, if you understand. Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know! Who stretched a measuring line across it? On what were its footings set, or who laid it's cornerstone--- while the morning stars sang together and all the angels shouted for joy? Job 38:1 & 4-7 This is one of my favorite verses. It reminds me, 1 - I am not God; 2 - I have no right to question His acts; 3 - That I should spend more time rejoicing for His love for me who, in comparison with His creation, am but a tiny bit; and 4 - That even when I get impatient waiting for His answers to my prayers, like He did with Job, He still loves me!

June 11, 2009 Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior. The Sovereign Lord is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to go on the heights. Habakkuk 3:17-19 (NIV)

Thank you, slushie, for your comment! ^_^ Thank you, Mike, for your approval and encouragement (as always)! ^_^ I am having a hard time trying to decide which Bible verse to post this week. I would ask for prayer and God's guidance in this matter, but I need to post a verse ASAP, because I had a death in the family and I will need to get ready to leave to go out of town soon. This week's Bible verse will be submitted in the next post entry. Thank you, ~ Niki
