Yes, at least some do. We all follow the traditional readings of the Torah and Haftara. Beyond that there are several different schedules. As has been said, FFOZ has one, Jeff Feinberg's FLAME Foundation has another and there are more still.

One is printed up in our bulletins that if followed will get you thru the entire bible in 1 year.

One of our friends wishes to discuss tallit here. Maybe you can help out by telling us if you wear tallitim, what yours is like (including colors and a site if you have one), how you use it, whether you only use it at home or if you wear it elsewhere, why you wear them, what you think of wearing them (by men and/or women), etc.

I have several tallitim katan and only one tallit gadol. I wear a tallit katan wherever I go but only wear the tallit gadol at home while at prayer at this time. I am not sure i will ever wear the tallit gadol at shul, but I have not made a firm decision.

My tallitim katan are all kinds of colors. [:)] My tallit gadol is mainly white with some blue, and I never changed the all-white tzitzit on it.

I have a tallit, but I only use it on special occasions. I do wear tsitsit though and I tie them in the manner illustrated in my avitar, 10, 5, 6, 5 (yud, hay, vav hay). I wear them in the loops of my pants. I have them on my shul pants. I try to wear them during the week, but I don't always remember to transfer them from one pair to the other.

I wear a tallit gadol when I pray the morning and afternoon prayers. I, too, have several -- a beautiful blue silk feminine one, and the others are white wool, with black stripes, blue and silver stripes, white stripes, and red and gold stripes.

One of my favorite sites to buy from is Jewish Bazaar.

They have a huge selection, and the prices are very good. Service has been great too.

I only use a tallit at home now, but for a few of years I wore one to church. People were always very interested in talking about it, and it paved the way for me to teach some Bible classes from a Hebraic perspective.

I have no problem with both men and women wearing one. It was given by God to help us remember to whom we belong and live accordingly, and I think that this is something that both men and women need reminding of.

I have been back and forth on this. Currently I do not wear tzittzit, nor do I have a tallit. (But I'm about to visit that website and check it out) I have only seen a few (usually teenage boys) wearing tzittzit ...with the exception of the many, many men who wear them on their tallitim.

Women at our shul typically weat scarves or hats, I have only seen a few wear a tallit and not consistently.

Recently during a bat mitzvah, the parents gave their daughter a beautiful femenine tallit with tzittzit.

I've seen tzittzit worn both in the white and with the techelet.

I would probaly wear tzittzit if other women in our community did. I still might...[&:]

It took me a long, long time of making sure before I put my tzitzit on. It is a big decision that shouldn't be taken lightly, in my opinion. It is a commitment.

And I don't always wear a hat. I am thinking about creating a feminine-looking kipah to wear on occasion, but I haven't done it yet.

Hi folks, I don't wear any special (forgive spelling) fallactries and such because I am not there in my faith expression, but respect those who are. This got enhanced as I was reading, Sitting At The Feet of Rabbi Jesus, last summer. Also new from that was the idea of blessing God who is King of the universe, as opposed to asking God to bless.... It has somewhat reshaped my prayer life. Also, to bless God for the seemingly bad times or circumstances rather than to pray for relief from them is new too.
I suppose these are more where one needs to be in their walk compared to some of the extremes that are out there.
Someone not from here, told me I should leave my family and marriage if my wife and kids are not willing to keep Shabbat the feasts and that I was typifying the Sodomite for staying in a relationship that does not want to move toward Messianic observance.
The person who suggested that is no longer talking to me.
I have found some balance of late from the UK site, hebrewroots.com associated with saltshakers.com. They have some neat teachings there, from Tree of Life Fellowship in the UK. TNN still remains a favorite too.
I am still in my marriage and father to my 2 kids, and trying to be the disciple G-d wants me to be. Blessings to all of you, see you next post.

Hi David.

WOW! Someone actually said this to you??? Unfortunately, there are plenty of those who lack maturity and discernment, and whose opinions are clouded by the issues they haven't dealt with. And usually they are very willing to give out toxic advice, that hasn't a shred of evidence of God's will in it.

I really cringe when I hear things like this coming out of Messianic mouths. It doesn't help the movement at all.

Good for you for not listening to that.

BTW, I read "Sitting at the Feet of Rabbi Jesus" too. Excellent book, I thought!

It is an eye opener when we learn Jesus blessed God instead
of asking a blessing. That puts our focus on the Creator and
not the things we are asking for.

I like TNN the most for level and balance.
I learn from all sources, even the orthodox.
But we judge all things with the Scripture.

Your friend is a crazy.
Perhaps it's best he no longer speaks to you.

Messianic Judaism teaches the biblical doctrine that salvation is a free gift from G-d, by faith in the atoning work of His Messiah.
Messianic Jews only baptize those who have accepted Messiah (no infant baptism) and baptize by immersion only (no sprinkling or pouring).

What, are we creating a messianic catecism? I thought we had bar mitzvah for that? Maybe it is good I resist adopting that minaker. I would say if you are a true child of Adonai you will (2 Tim 2:15) "(d)o your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth" and (Deut. 6:7) "(i)mpress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up." Doing this in a committed community puts you in a position where Adonai's Spirit can reveal His ways to you and you will be able to determine when it is indeed His Spirit and not some other.

It's funny we don't do any of these things, but my co-workers
call me a Jewish-Christian. Maybe because we observe the
Sabbath (as in church attendance) and I use a KJV Bible and
a Jewish Study Bible side by side at work. They know I am
definitely NOT seventh-day-adventist.

We do study from 6am to 8am each morning for those who
wish to attend. We have study each Tuesday night for all
the others, and we attend each Saturday morning.

Aside from an Israeli flag, which I guess puts a Jewish flavor
to the banners next to it [King of Kings][Lord of Lords] and
some scrolls I made for decor, we're like any other church
as far as the Scriptures go. We study verse by verse. We
did this long before we finally began to understand the Feasts
and the like.

I've always been a Pentecostal or Charismatic, whatever the
label is today, but our church showed no denomination slant.
Many who came in before thought we were baptist. LOL.

We do stand out as we learn of the Catholic roots as much as
the Jewish roots of Christianity because we have stopped the
celebrations that indicate the authority of the RCC over Scripture.

I'm still the same disciple of Christ as I've always been. Just more
informed now. LOL.

Thank God for His mercy and grace. Loves us in spite of our selves.

Ted Pearce. The only song I have of his is Shalom and I love it! Any other good songs he does? Does he do any of the traditional songs like Hava Nagila, Shabbat Shalom, The David Song?

Our Rabbi is back from Israel and Turkey. He was bold in Turkey. [:D]

Our first year we planned as best we could.
We continued to study the history of it.
I think the second year we did more study
about it than celebrating. This year we may
just wing it, not sure.

I think our little group may be more truth-seekers

We just light the candles each night, invite friends and give gifts any time during the week. However, my children are very legalistic when it comes to the chocolate coins and dreidel. One can easiliy be forgiven for missing a blessing or not doing a seder properly during the year, but only Adonai can save the one who forgets to buy the chocolate coins.
