That explains why you didn't wave back. And, don't worry, you already sounded like a stalker before you said that Ideas - those gardening stools that you can move around and have storage. Knee pads to kneel on. Plant stakes / Garden spikes. Even a coat rack type do-hickey that had a flower / plant theme. I'm pictureing one that has 3 ornamental hooks on a backing board that gets screwed to the wall. The perfect place to hange gloves and a watering can. Collapsable lawn debris bag. Long handled, narrow rake. I love the seeds / bulbs idea. Oxalsis is nice but probably would have needed ordered. My mom loves her weather station, but she is into weather. It reads the temperature outside without going out. Oh, if you could find winter lawn ornaments that would be cool. You know, a snowman snow gauge. Christmas lights and a wreath. Why didn't you ask sooner. Can you tell I've had my coffee.

My mom just gave someone a clothes line and clothes pins. Oh, it is too late for a personalized one, but a cover for a mailbox if they have one. And, there are lots of secular ideas for the lawn - just not alot available in July. I don't like most of that stuff, and won't put it up, but I smile when I see caroling snowmen.

I also love the things that you put in your garden that stand up, and have wind chimes or bells on them. I'll have to see if I can find a picture... but either way I love love love wind chimes. =)

There was some fancy place downtown Omaha that has the chimes "in tune" or "tuned" whatever the phrase is. :) Anyway they sound beautiful, not clanking at all,but I don't know if they are still in business, or what they were even called. I never go down there.

Hobby Lobby has a multitude of garden sculptures to suit any taste - fairies, cherubs, angels, cats, dogs, pigs, frogs, you name it. They also have some gorgeous gazing balls and pedestals to put them on. I also like wind chimes myself, but only if they make a pretty sound.

My mom just gave someone a clothes line and clothes pins. Too cool, a solar powered clothes drier! Is it upper or lower Michigan? Short summers, lots of snow in the U.P. Perhaps a shovel and a decorative Flexible Flier sled for the Off-season gardening.

What about a screen tent? Are bugs a nuisance there? hmm, I don't know, I've never been to michigan. I was born & raised in Michigan. Yes there are alot of Mosquitos because of all of the lakes. Another idea might be a shovel to shovel the snow with. They have lots of snow most winters.

OK - I know Kath probably has made up her mind, but it occurs to me that we are all storing ideas in our head. And, as I was running (not quite literally, but close) thru the big box discount department store, I was looking for gifts I don't need and thought of another one and figured were are all probably doing the same... A drink pitcher with matching glasses and those plastic ice cubes that don't dilute the drinks. A fun table cloth to go with it? Drink mixes / stirring sticks would round it out and don't necessarily mean alcohol either.

What about a lawn mower? Or some outdoor furniture (patio table & chairs).

I was in the store tonight and remembered that we were asked to stock my nephew's cupboard. I loved the idea, but wondered if they got a bunch of stuff they wouldn't eat.

you people give some mighty generous shower gifts. I was thinking the same thing! But I went to a shower for my niece a couple of month ago, and *I* took a shower gift (A recipe box and lots of cards so she and her husband could get the recipes for their favorite family foods, and a bill organizer). *Everyone* else brought their wedding gifts I felt like mean old Auntie Kate. Yeah, I think all of it has gotten waaaaaaaaayyyyyyy out of hand. Kate, I have had those feelings at certain things and I have finally gotten to the point that I just don't care LOL! I cannot financially compete with some of the things I see given. It isn't suppose to happen, and some would deny it, but it becomes almost a competition to see who can bring the cutest, most unique, most expensive gift. I'm sure I have been guilty of it through the years of too many showers and weddings. For weddings...a card with money in it. That's it. It's so... stress free.

I love my garden flag stand and all of my flags. Have one for every season. They are lots of fun to change out.

I always give the Fanny Farmer Cookbook (my favorite) at wedding showers but couldn't do that this time because of the theme restriction. I was pretty sad about that, giving that cookbook was like my tradition.

But, why can't you? It is a gift! I hate the idea of 'we are getting married and this is what we want you to buy.' I like registrys for ideas, themes for decorations and inexpensive traditions. I hate advice books, but love 'bring a recipe card'. I refuse to address the envelope for my thank-you note, but would gladly put my address in a book that was passed around. Let me put my soap box away now. Laundry stuff! It goes with the solar clothes dryer. A basket and woolite and pretreat stuff. A delicates wash-bag. Bleach. Some oxy-type stuff. See, I said soap and my brain started working again. I have a $15 limit for shower / graduation gifts. $25 for a wedding unless you are a blood relative. $20 if I haven't heard from you since you were born. Deal with it. And, you are getting a dollar store card. I'm meaner than an 'Aunt Kate'
