Here is a place to chit chat about the trials and triumphs our kids go through in the first few very important and formidable years of their lives. It is ok to talk about any kids stages (if you don't feel like starting a thread in parenting on the specific topic)...so don't feel it has to be about babies or toddlers as many of us have older kids too.

There are a few topics that already have active threads such as Vaccinations, Circumcision, Breast feeding, Bottle feeding, etc...so please keep those topics in their respective threads.

Brandy, you probably have some neat Gymboree centers, look for one that is more of a "local" place versus the name brand, KWIM? When we are in Maryland we go to the locally owned baby gym and it's nice that they know who we are.... It eventually gets that way at the Gymboree here too, but it took us longer. HERE is the Gymboree description of their classes. I think that "Play and Learn" is the only one with 0-6 month classes.

Ryanne - I've requested a free intro class with Gymboree and am going to look up kids gyms and ask a few moms I know with older kids where they went.

Sarah - thanks for a new thread

Brandy, I am looking into gymboree too. I feel like I should be doing something out with Caden and figure it will be a good way to meet some other SAHMs, you know?

Sarah, you're right - time does fly by. That's a great reminder for me to really be aware of enjoying each day. A friend of mine was at church with her new little baby today (2 weeks old). I just couldn't even believe or even remember Caden ever being that small. He already seems so big! Where did the time go?

ETA: if anyone wants to see pics, we signed up for a kodak site... CADEN's SITE

Our Early Years Centre (which is pretty much Mommy and Me classes) has been such a blessing for me. I knew no one in my neighbourhood until I started going. Now I have two friends I can count on in the neighbourhood, and I'm watching one of the mom's baby two days a week while she works, which means a little income for me.

When I first started going I thought Akeelah was going to be the one to get the most benefit out of it, but it's done just as much for me!

thanks for asking....I've been reading just not posting much because too much gets to me way too easily...ppd.

all the kids are doing good though. Justice was up to just over 9lb on wednesday at his apt. (birth weight of 8lb 8oz). He is trying to lift his head now....esp when he is in the wrap. He gets a few good seconds in then "collapses" back onto my chest...lol. On Jack's birthday (25th) he will be a month old already!!!!

Jack's birthday is next week...Jake's is next month....so we are trying to come up with something fun to do right between the two. We are thinking either the zoo or the science museum. I have only been to one science museum (in TN) and it was fun, but I am not sure about the ages of our younger crew. The heat outside might decide for us though....if it's too hot we won't do the zoo we will do the museum. It's been up around 95-100°F (35-38°C) here the past few weeks. I am used to the heat, and it's not as bad when pregnant...but still, that's H-O-T

Sarah: How exciting to have a birthday so close! I miss the zoo and I miss the science museum. Both sound like very fun options!

Has anyone here ever dealt with rivers of flowing poo? Jadon didn't poo for 3 days. I knew it was coming soon, but I wasn't sure when. He had me up at 5:30am, I fed him, and had him laying on my chest. I heard a LITTLE tiny gurgle in his diaper and sat him up expecting to her something more and then I'd change him. Suddenly he had this look on his face and I felt this warmth on my abdomen/pelvis. I looked down to see RIVERS OF BROWN POO running out of his diaper. It was SO MUCH POO. Thankfully I was quick enough to stop it with my arm before it went on the couch. I started yelling for Jason to get me a towel. Poor guy shot out of bed like lightening and came running into the living room to see what happened. I won't repeat what he said, but it shocked the both of us, LOL. He ran and grabbed two towels - one for me and one for Jadon. It smelled sooooooooo bad! Jason took care of Jadon while I jumped in the shower. I am sooooooo thankful for Jason's amazing ability to be so helpful no matter what time it is and not think twice about helping me. lol I don't know how I would have gotten up without having poo flow everywhere without that towel!

The funniest part was the looks Jadon was giving me. First he had this perplexed look on his face like, "What is mommy yelling about?" To this HUGE smile and giggle and he watched us scramble around. My adorable little stinker!

Jae, you had both my hubby and I cracking up with that story.

Nathan and I stayed overnight last night at my parents. We are still going with the original plan of staying next Sat. night, but last night it just worked out best for the two of us to stay with Nana and Papa while Greg worked on the house.

Nathan had a terrible time getting to sleep, he was overtired and very confused about where he was at. He hadn't slept anywhere else but his own crib since he was 2 months old. But once he did fall asleep he zonked out for 10.5 hours straight! The adults had a tougher night, and I am pretty beat.

But the good news is that I think we know how to make it work even better next time, so the adults sleep better, and I feel good that Nathan can at least use the pack n play for a little while longer at his grandparents.

His Florida grandparents are making a last minute trip up here Wednesday (they just called us yesterday to ask if they could stay here), so it should be a busy week.

Janine you are blessed to have such a helpful hubby :) What a funny story huh? You will have to remember all of these stories for Jadon's 18th or 21st!!!

Ruth, I hope you get some rest. What is greg doing to the house? How is the pregnancy going?

Sarah- glad to know you are doing good. Wow, a month old already!! Sounds like you have a good trip planned either way for the birthdays (and thanks for the temperature conversion!! )

Nath slept a little better last night, he did 2 hours, 3 hours, then another hour i think. So i only had to wake 4 times he woke again once in bed with me. going to see if I can get an earlier appointment with the Paed before Sept, that's too long to wait. Its also day 6 of no dairy for me and him so hoping to see some change soon, if not back to the drawing board.

I think better in metric, so really it was converted for the F readers...lol. I got really good at converting things like temps and speed when we lived over in Germany.

Well, he spent all day yesterday stripping wallpaper with a steamer. Next weekend he'll be painting.

I'm doing ok. I'll try and go to bed soon, as tired as I am, I'll just lie in bed awake if I go to bed to early.

I hope you have an even better night, Nicole, and that you figure out Nath soon.

Oh taking down wallpaper sucks!! I hope you can sleep well Ruth!

I have cut only dairy so far, I am doing a rotation type elimination diet as that's easiest for me and my family. So I think most things I read said it would take atleast 10 days to be out of his system. So I will wait til probably next monday which is 12 days of no dairy and then introduce bits to me and him and see what happens. There hasn't been any change so far, he has probably got a little worse since I cut it out! that's at night anyway. I just dont know why he has so much trouble with the gas and wind, it could be wheat, which I will try after the dairy. That's the one that will be the hardest which is why I did dairy first.

Now I'm going to have to find out where I read it but I just read in the last week that it takes 10 days to get out of OUR systems and another 10 to get out of THEIR systems.

Dairy I mean.

FOUND IT!! Kellymom

If you think your baby is reacting to a particular food, then eliminate that food from your diet for 2-3 weeks to see if baby’s symptoms improve. If baby’s symptoms do improve, then this food may be a problem for your baby. Eliminating a food for less than 2-3 weeks may not be effective—cow’s milk protein, for example, can persist in mom’s body for 1˝ - 2 weeks, and it may be another 1˝ - 2 weeks before the protein is out of baby's system.

I found it said not just there either when I was wondering where my girls green poo was coming from.

Yup, this is what is accurate for a breastfed baby It was a real pain when I did it with Gabby, but entirely worth it!

Oh ok, I didn't find that kellymom site, thanks Brandy. I guess I can go a few more days with no dairy then. Although, I just went to the shops to buy the dairy free lamingtons I have been having as a treat after dinner and they are not stocking them anymore!! Its so dumb because they are gluten free too, so they are popular. I told them to order them in again. I hope they do. anyway, its not about that, its about Nath, but you know what I mean, it was my one treat I was enjoying...

there is a link about lamingtons. They are a light and fluffy sponge, covered in chocolate and coconut. They are DELICIOUS!! You can get ones with cream in the middle or strawberry jam in the middle too. Grace and I used to eat one each every day as our treat. And I did find the gluten/dairy free ones in the frozen section (they are usually in the bread section).

Janine he looks very happy! He has a lovely big smile
