Praise God that the surgery went so well. Hope you all get a good rest tonight.

I'm on "leave" again. Stopped by the house to pay some bills online and grab some stuff. And decided to have some me times before I go to my mom's and love on the kids. Thanks for all your encouragements and prayers. This is for sure the hardest journey Brian and I have been on so far, but I also know that we are blessed beyond belief even in the middle of it. As Sandy said, Brian's surgery went well. He was finally cleared to take his c-spine collar off yesterday before the surgery, and since the surgery has been able to sit up a bit. Much better for the spirits than being flat on the back, I think. He is doing remarkably well for so soon after surgery and doesn't seem to have found any of that confusion or combativeness he had after first surgery (thank you, LORD!). Doctors think that was probably a result of the trauma and a pretty severe concussion. He is still having some short term memory loss issues, but they say that is not uncommon. The short term is not nearly as upsetting as long term memory loss would be, so I'm not stressing over it. Just repeating myself a lot. He did have a rough night pain-wise, but that is to be expected, I'm sure. They had to break another part of his pelvis to fix the break. The ball of the ball-and-socket hip joint actually broke off in the socket. The surgeon seemed pleased with the results of the surgery. This break will be the hardest to heal and the surgery only has a 50/50 success rate, though the doctor thought Brian's went so well he has an 80/20 chance of the fix "taking" and bones growing back together right. If they don't, he'll need a total hip replacement in a few months, and even if they do take, he'll likely have to have that 10-15 years down the road anyway. Physical torture therapy was in today with a nifty device. Well, it looked nifty until I had to see my man cry like a little child. It flexes his knee up and down, to whatever degree the PT lady sets it to, over and over and over. He has to do it 4 hours a day. He got through an hour and then the PT said that was enough for the first time. It wasn't so bad once it was going a while, but the first few minutes, it was awful to even watch. I can't imagine having to do it. It's to keep his muscles stretched and toned, to make it easier on him when it's time to get up and out of bed. Tomorrow, they are going to get him sitting on the edge of the bed, and he needs to be able to bend his leg to do that. He will not be weight-bearing on that leg any time soon, but they have to keep it flexible and work on range of motion still. Anyway, I think that's all. I'm going to be at my mom's with the kids until she is out of work tomorrow afternoon. My CV joint is going in the van and a guy from church is fixing it tonight for me. The parts place is keeping Brian's commercial account open and so I got a $108 part for $50. Very nice of them...they don't have to do that. Several of them have been up to see Brian, and I would bet none of them are saved, so I pray they see him/us persevere through this and want to know why and how. It is only by the grace of God, for sure... I didn't end up seeing the car or accident site the other day. I just decided I wasn't ready. I am going to go do both now though. Now that Brian is past the second surgery and doing so much better than I thought he would be after that, I feel better emotionally about it. God is good. All the time.

{{{Donna}}} Thank God everything is going so well for Brian. We're still praying for full range of motion and pain free nights. I'm working tonight, so I'll have CW up in the background if you want to chat through PM's.

It's so good to hear of your faith, to see your love for each other, and to know that you are doing well in the midst of awful circumstances! I'm still praying for you and am encouraged by seeing our prayers answered. God is indeed good!

Donna, That must have been really hard to see Brian in such pain.

Most definitely; it was hard for me, a "third-party" to even read about it. {{{Donna}}} Thank you for the update. May Our Lord bless you, Brian and your kids abundantly.

I just don't know what to say. Everything that I can think of right now seems redundant. I am not so sure that Fred and M will be able to see Brian after all today. Our car broke down and they are fixing it now. It has been very frustrating. we have tried to get over to seer Brian on a few different days, but something has always kept us from being able to get there. I just want you to know that we aren't ignoring you. You guys mean a lot to us.

We'll keep praying for Brian, Donna. I imagine he has a lot of good reasons to be a little cranky. I'll be keeping you in prayer too. The grace your showing is admirable. Give your kids lots of hugs and don't forget to take care of yourself, too. Love ya.

Still praying here and very happy for the good updates we have been getting. I know that this was said somewhere...but how long will Brian be in the hospital now that his surgery is done? I know it will probably be a while, but I thought that someone had given an approximate time of how long they'd be there post surgery.

how long will Brian be in the hospital now that his surgery is done? He's supposed to have 3-4 days in this unit and then 2-3 weeks in the inpatient rehab. It was awful to see him in so much pain. We were both crying. He just called here crying too. I hate this. It's not fair.

No, it isn't fair! I agree! Of course, we can't change it, and we have to hang on to the fact that God knows best and is doing His best for you and Brian.
