No, thankfully. The doctors and CNM there are GREAT! Oh, it's so much more fun when it's someone else having the baby.

Congratulations on your new niece!! I'm sure she'll bring much joy to the family (and your definitely right - it's so much nicer when someone else has the baby!).

My niece is here, safe and sound. She is beautiful and my sister did great! I'm not going to post her name here until I ask my sister, but if you are my facebook friend, you can find it there. She was 6 lb 13 oz (I guessed 6 lb 14 oz!!), and 21 inches long. Caragen update...she is doing well. She is walking some, though unsteady/wobbly. She is talking a lot, but thought processes take a bit longer. She can see, not sure how much, but she can. She's still not using her left arm much, but we do catch her using it here and there.

Brian had his six week postop appointment today, and his back is healing GREAT! Doc says 6 more weeks of doing nothing, and then he can lift some restrictions. Halfway there! He can drive short distances now, as long as he is not twisting to see. Being a truck driver, he uses his mirrors instead of twisting anyway, because he's used to having a load behind him. I'm sure these 6 weeks will go much faster than the first 6, just because he can drive and chitchat with his friends, run to the closeby parts store by himself, etc. That little bit of freedom is invaluable to him (and me!). He walked tonight with his cane. He hasn't been able to do that since before his femur surgery in March. He'll start PT again in 6 weeks, hopefully. Or maybe he'll be having another femur surgery then...those darn screws in his knee are really hurting him lately, and they have to come out. Yay. Some discouraging things going on still, some involving the accident and some involving my brother. I know God is in control. I just wish we could get a glimpse of the big picture He sees. Someday...and until then, we'll keep going, AND find joy in the little things in life.

Yeah, it's up to the leg doctor though. His femur has to be pretty healed first. We go to that doctor again in a week and a half. Brian thought up a new part time job for himself...as a certified escort. That's an escort for oversize vehicles and loads, silly, not an escort-escort. Does anyone see the irony in that besides me? He could do it though, once he's healed. It's just a test to add it to his license. Most all of the work would be during good weather too. We'll see...

If he drives a Ford to escort an oversized load, he would be an escort with an escort... Good roads, daylight driving, and permission to be a road hog when needed. Sounds good.

Oh, I thought you meant the other kind of escort.

We looked it up, actually, and there are several pilot car services people hire. So he'd probably try to work for one of those, I think. From what I understand, you can work as much or as little as want/can...most people don't do it full-time. And yes, in searching for certified escort car companies, I did run across several of the other kind of escort services. I can assure you he is NOT going to be that kind of escort, certified or not.

LOL! Brian's new goal for when he grows up has had me laughing all day. I know that the mobile home place that isn't too far from us uses an escort every time the finish a new home. from what you are saying, it sounds like it would be a nice fit for Brian.

Shoulda seen me when he first started talking about it. I kept cracking up laughing and he thought I wasn't taking him seriously. I told him I knew he wasn't joking, just the whole "escort" thing, and then that the job is keeping oversize loads and the people on the road safe...it was just too much for me. I had to laugh! LOL I do think it might end up being a good fit for him, especially if it is part time and mostly in the spring and summer, which I'm pretty sure it would be around here.
