Just talked to my sweetie. He has not been able to eat anything and is throwing up whatever sips he manages to drink. Please pray his stomach will settle down. I'm going back up there as soon as everyone is dressed.

Still puking. His pain seems not to be too bad though.

Is he really sick (like flu) or is it from surgery? I know if I had too much of the morphine in the iv/pump thing, I'd get really sick to my stomach.

I think it's from surgery. He always has trouble with this. He got rid of the morphine pump this morning and is alternating vicodin and oxycodone, like we do at home.

He's home and resting well. His pain is under good control and he hasn't thrown up today, though he is still nauseous. Is it a sign of something that we didn't need to fill his scripts right away because we already have some of everything the doctor ordered?

No, at the price of drugs, we don't want to throw them out! Glad Brian is home already. That is so amazing. Praying for healing and that his nausea goes away.

How are things today my friend? I'm thinking about you guys. I so wish I was closer... Is Brian doing better? How are the kids handling yet another surgery? How are YOU?

Last night was rough, but I expected it to be. Tonight should be marginally better, and then it'll get a lot better. I hope. The kids are doing okay. They are glad to be home after being pretty much gone since Thursday afternoon. When I was getting Levi dressed, he started crying because "I don't wanna leave again!" Poor kiddo. I told him we do have to leave in a little bit, just him and Mommy, to go to the store. I can leave the other ones with Noah for a little while, but not Levi aka Monsterboy. LOL We also are going to the library today, and maybe to the playground if the sun stays out. It'll give Brian a break from the noise. Hannah and Noah have AWANA tonight too. I gave Noah the day off of school today, and told him it's because I need extra help today. If he gives me an attitude about helping, I will give him school work to do. I'm okay. Tired, but glad we're all home. Oh, Sandy...his last roommate was from up by you. He was drunk and ran into a tree. Broke his tibia badly, and is having surgery to fix his hip and pelvis today. Brian had the chance to pray for him, and some other guys from our church talked with him too.

Well, we didn't make it to the library or playground. Oh well. Brian is doing well. Moving around pretty well, not in a ton of pain, and starting to eat again. God is good. He is faithful and loving. I don't know why Brian is still broken, but I know God is not done working in both of us through these circumstances. I have peace that passes understanding, and I am thankful for that. I have Noah scheduled to do school the rest of this week. He really could have done it today too, but we probably all needed some down time. Funny though...surgeries don't really throw our routine off any more. I have people who insisted on making meals for us this week, and I appreciate it, but I know we'd have been fine without them.

Because it is part of your new normal. I remember talking to someone about that recently and how children can adapt to that 'new' normal if they are well-led by a trusted adult. (ie: mom/dad/grandma/uncle Joe) You just brought to mind another family I keep praying for - their normal changed too, but the trusted adult part has been a tag-team effort.

No, not a soldier...just a local dumb kid. Brian's going to try to keep in touch with him. Forgot to mention...our two favorite nurses from right after the accident had Brian again. That was neat. We're hoping he ends up on the same unit when he gets his elbow taken care of in the spring. They are really, really great there.
