Blog Shut Down by 'Christian' Apologist's Threat

I have to admit, there is something a bit scary here. That someone can get an entire site taken down based solely on accusation seems rather frightening. Disagreement is one thing, but whether intended or not, this could open up some pretty nasty precedences (sp). Given that things like The Fairness Doctrine and hate speech laws are being proposed that would curtail free speech, is it possible this will be used as a wedge to impose things on the internet, too?

The rules about blogging haven't caught up with the phenomenon. Without seeing the actual piece in question, I can't decide whether it was or wasn't slander. As an author, Abanes has read reviews and should not be thin-skinned. I'm guessing Silva may have crossed the line. The folks at the IPower probably reached that conclusion.

Richard Abanes is an apologist and supporter of Rick Warren and his Purpose Drivel model. The blogger has been very critical of Warren's movement. I'm sure this came from higher than Abanes. I wouldn't be surprised if it came from Saddleback

Will wonders never cease..... So 'more than conquering' of some to forgive their neighbor a little talking and free discourse regarding a questionable book. Wow, how cultic can you get?
Congress will make no laws with respect to so-called leaders, who can't handle a little discernment applied to themselves, is definitely Constitutional?! I guess apprising.org will be up and running with a new isp soon; i hope.

LOL!! Saddleback Community Church? Some should not use their freedom in Christ in such a way as to trip their neighbor into believing that the Nicolaitan mammon monster is more important than Christ; who forgives and justifies freely from among all of those who have sinned.

Warrenists at church want me thrown out because I publicly questioned some of the things being done at church which were entertainment oriented instead of studying God's Word. Once they throw people out, they will not allow letters of transfer to be sent to churches, or impose strict restrictions. They believe we're troublemakers. Doctrine and theology are being purged from churches in favour of entertainment. What gives?
One of those was the service that consisted only of dancing girls jiggling to pop music. Another incident was the non-education of our kids in the Bible. A friend informed me in recent weeks after I was told to go that the messages were too "simple" (good for non-believers, but Christians aren't necessary to listen to the "message"), and one where the pastor was so gaga over himself he called anyone who opposed him the devil and behind much of his troubles), and some deacons had enough, putting him "on leave" four weeks.
They act like the Modern Left's attitude on speech; only they have rights, their opponents are shut out. Joe Wilson (my Congressman) has no right to speak in the House because "President" Pelosi has written rules prohibiting my Congressman from speaking.

RA: I DID NOT have a blog shut down. That was the result of the blog owner failing to comply with a request that came from his ISP. This story has been blown completely out of proportion, and been mixed with all kinds of conspiracy theories, false information, and partial truths. This Open Letter to Steve Camp outlines my initial thoughts/intentions/motivation for writing to Ken Silva's ISP. It also covers various issues relating to the "Ken Silva vs. Richard Abanes" controversy, including:
1. Bible Study notes on key passages being discussed,
2. the actual contents of my email to Silva's ISP,
3. observations about the current state of the church,
4. an indictment of today's so-called Online Discernment Ministries, and
5. documentation of Ken Silva’s violation of federal copyright/privacy laws, and other issues.
The open letter should answer most questions and addressed the widely-read article by Steve Camp titled "Battles in the Blogsphere."

RA: No worries. Issues dealing with First Amendment freedoms such as criticizing specific acts as sinful (e.g., fornication, homosexuality, etc.) and declarations about alternate religious belief systems being false (e.g., the New Age) are in no way being endangered. Such assessments are completely protected in the blogsphere by our Freedom of Speech. The problem with the article in question was the personal nature of its attack on me. It was not about my theology or doctrinal views. Bloggers are PERFECTLY safe.

RA: Are you serious? ROFL, That, my dear friend, is most definitely NOT true. I would say Warren and no one else at Saddleback is even aware of this issue. What has happened has NOTHING to do with Warren or Saddleback. LoL.
