My folks were married the day before Thanksgiving. Growing up, they always had a nice dinner - but never went out.

We tried to keep our anniversary as our own day, since my bday is close to a holiday but we ended up have a baby for our anniversary and now we always have cake (DeeDee was born 9/6, and our anni is 9/15)

We married on October 19th to avoid the holidays. My birthday is 3 days after Christmas and I always wished it was away from Christmas. But wouldn't you know it, dd was born the day before our anniversary. For a bit, it looked like she was going to wait until our anniversary. Sometimes, you just can't plan for these things!

Better a bad wedding and a good husband than a good wedding and a bad husband, though.

Maybe you can have a do over on the wedding..like have one of those silver anniversary weddings or something...

Does April 1st (April fools day) count as a holiday?

I was still in college, and the church was only available on the last weekend of Spring break. We had a one day honeymoon.

Got married on Feb. 9th. Her birthday is Feb. 14th that's right Valentines day. Get every thing birthday, anniversary, and Valentines day taken care of in one fatal swing. Just kidding. Seriously she said how bout this date and I said cool. Never really thought about when it happened to be. Been almost 18 years now.

hubby and i got married the week after valentine's day. i really didn't want it close to v-day. we live in louisiana so i thought with a february wedding, it wouldn't be hot, humid, or yucky. (it was muggy that day anyway!) hubby was off every 3rd week so the 19th was the only day. our first daughter was born feb 15 the next year. i was still in the hospital for our 1 year anniversary!

We didn't get married on or near a holiday however we got married on June 9th, 1984 which was the date of our high school graduations back in 1978 from different schools in the county where we live.....therefore it's hard to forget when our anniversary is....in addition my DHs' birthday is 12 days later on June 21st.....I guess we followed the pattern of my parents....they got married on November 4th and my moms' birthday was the 8th.

Ok, this is my first time ever posting...we were married four days before Christmas. First reason was I always wanted a night wedding with lots of candles. Second reason was hubby is a teacher so we automatically got two weeks vacation for our honeymoon!

The only family we have who live out of town actually come every year for Christmas so it worked out really well for everyone

We decided to get married on july 3 partially because our original June date conflicted with a major event for hubby's Grandma and also the July date quaranteed we would have the next day off to celebrate. The drawback was many friends and family had plans for that weekend so our wedding was likely smaller than it might have been in June.

Welcome mkgrace!

Dh and I got married on the Australia Day long weekend, the plan being that family and friends would find it easier to get there with an extra day to travel.

Dh's brother complained that he had to skip a convention he goes to every year, but otherwise it was great.

We had native flowers for our bouquets and buttonholes.

One of the best things is that we always get a long weekend near our anniversary.

My husband and I have the same birthday in Sept, so we picked a day in the Spring so we could have the separated. April worked out perfect for us.

I'm a little late to this and new to the board.

My husband and I got married on July 5th. Good and bad-we get fireworks the night before IF he's off work. Out of the 5 years we've been married, I believe we have spent one 4th of July together and maybe 2 anniversaries (not even sure about that). He was in the Marines and always had to work concert security with his dog on the 4th, and then he was in the desert training for Iraq. So I'd say he has good reasons for missing out on it. I'm not sure if/when we'll be able to celebrate another 4th and anniversary because he'll be applying for the Fire Department and you get your schedules 3 years in advance. So we'll know what the next 3 years look like at least.

We were married on Feb. 13. In 99 the 14th was a Sunday. So we married on the 13th on Saturday. The only problem we experienced was that I could not find a florist to do our event. A friend of the family(a florist) sold us the flowers but we had a couple of family members arrange the flowers. Every year we take turns. He plans anniversary I plan valentines the next year vice versa. This coming year is our 10th and we have planned a private renewal. The only thing we tend to avoid is flowers around that time - he just gives them to me throughout the year.

My DH & I were married on November 29. My oldest brother is a school teacher & my candle lighters were school aged at the time so we thought that a wedding over the holidays would be good. We just got lucky that by having a wedding in Nebraska & in November that we didn't have a snow storm. We had about 300 guests and probably half were from out of state. So not having a storm was a really good thing. When we got back from our honeymoon in Florida it was snowing pretty good.

My Husband and I got married on Chirstmas day. I was living in Colombia and he was attending school in Orlando Florida and he only had few days to go down to Colombia and marry me. After immigration paper work and travel arrangements we were finally able to get married. To our surprise a lot of people came to our wedding.. :)

My parents made getting married quite interesting! I flew out to see my ex-fiance 7 years after we broke off the engagement. When we met up it was like our relationship continued where it left off and we ended up getting re-engaged! When I called my parents to tell them not to go to the airport to pick me up, they completely lost it! They thought I was being held against my will be a cult, they closed out my bank account and told me if I wanted my money I have to come get it, they used my money to hire a private detective to investigate my fiance, an officer stopped by to do a welfare check on me, all of my e-mails were traced, my father sent me a threatening e-mail disowning me, we were forced into hiding. We got married while in hiding around midnight of 9/11 of 2003! Then we got married again publically on 9/14 and we had to flee our public wedding because of an 'uninvited guest' hiding in the woods! We were escorted as fast as we could back to town where we found out that we were followed! We went in a nearby store and called the police. I rarely spoke to my parents the first year! The next year a movie came out called 11:14 how weird is that? In a way, I thank my parents for putting us through that. It showed me how far I would go to be with my wife and it really strengthed our relationship!

My husband and I got married on July 4th. It was mostly my husband's idea. He picked that day for 2 reasons: He would never forget the date, and there will always be a celebration every year on our anniversary no matter where we are.[:D]

We both love Christmas so we decided to get married last year on December 15. His bday is Dec 5, anniversary Dec 15 and Christmas Dec 25... all 10 days apart lol. Having a Christmas wedding was absolutely beautiful!

We got married at Easter because that was the first vacation with a week attached. We were both school teachers.

I'm not married yet, but we initially scheduled our wedding on July 4 next year. It was going to be a great way to ensure we always have our date off, and all of the family members were going to be able to make it that weekend. However, it was all but impossible to get a place to have the reception, so we pushed it back to July 11, and the majority of the family can still come, there are just a few that will miss out. Her family is a large catholic yankee family, and mine's small and most of them (outside my immediate family) are southern baptist.

This should be an interesting clash. lol
