That's because it causes the arteries to constrict. Anytime a person is on medication for any reason or has a medical or mental health condition they need to consult their physician and pharmacist before using any herbal supplements, including teas.

It can raise the bp of normal healthy people without any other health conditions. Just something to be aware of.

Can teas taste very notibly different depending on what company you get them from? I bought three teas--white, english breakfast, and irish breakfst, and they all taste the same. At christmas, my sister brought along an earl grey tea, store bought in a box, and it tasted NOTHING like what i have, but had a very distinct, strong flavor behind it.

Earl grey is a completely different type of tea. Hubby compares it to smelly gym socks. There's another kind called LADY grey that is similar but milder - I prefer Lady grey instead of Earl grey. Either way, I believe it has bourgemot (spelling) along with the black tea leaves.
White, english and irish breakfast teas are all variations of regular black tea. White tea is supposedly younger tea leaves of the same black tea plant. But at any rate, that's why they do all taste similar.

You also have to understand there are varying qualities of tea. The smaller the bits of leaves are, the lower the quality. Lowest quality being instant, next up is store-bought bagged tea.

I do taste a difference between bagged tea and loose-leaf tea.
If you happen to have a tea basket or tea ball, consider stopping by your local co-op store or health food store. Our has a bulk-food section that includes flour, rices, pastas, herbs, spices and teas. Here you can buy tea for $13 a pound - which translates to $2 for a baggie full of loose tea. I like to go and buy small amounts of different teas just to try, and the quality is much better than store-brand teas.

Yes, teas can taste drastically different depending on many things, including how old the tea leaves are, where the variety is grown, how the growing season went, how much flavoring is added, etc.

I got an order from Harney's last week and it has been so good!!!! The Tropic Green and Florence have been my two favorite new ones that I tried.

I am a coffee/tea drinker - black coffee early and tea for the rest of the day. My favs - Breaathe Easy, white teas, Vanilla Chai, el cheap-o Lipton Strawberry tea and a friend reminded me of a tea that I used to drink a few years ago but forgot about - Bigelow's Constant Comment - mmmm

We are in the south, so your basic sweet tea is a staple in our house.

There's a market nearby with a big isle dedicated to loose teas that you can buy - I've been meaning to try some of the, but there's just too many choices and lots of flowery teas - not so big on flowery.
