rcjames -> RE: What is the pastor's role in church? (10/19/2008 6:17:33 PM)

I believe this passage explains it very well; (Eph 4:11,12) And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: I think from the wordin in vs. 11 that Pastor/Teacher is one role. That Passage goes on to expand on what the Pastor is for; ' (Eph 4:13) Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: (Eph 4:14) That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; (Eph 4:15) But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: The Pastor's duty is to teach, exhort, rebuke, and care for the flock with all being done to acheive the untimate goal of growing the attendee unto the stature of Christ. (2Ti 4:2) Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. Thanks RC
