ORIGINAL: ladyingrace1979 Hi all, I need some advice. DD#1 cannot seem to keep herself organized. She has a planner so she can write everything down, a binder for each subject with a folder for loose papers, and a plastic envelope for homework to be turned in. So she has the tools, she just doesn't use them. She is in 8th grade, and is very bright, so she has been able to "skate" by on her smarts, but as the course work has gotten harder she hasn't been able to do that. We got first quarter report cards and out of her 4 academic classes she had two that were below a c. She is capable of better grades. Any suggestions? Kim Q I have an exchange student like that. Wanna trade and straighten eachother's kids out? Actually, I went and color coded his notebooks to his folders. Then I require him to bring home all of his books, folders, notebooks and papers daily. Then I go through them, separate them out and make him do all that looks like it needs to be done. Some of the things he brings home are blank because they worked on them in class, but if he doesn't mark it, I make him do it. That way he gets more practice, and he learns the value of being able to keep himself organized. He is getting better because I think he is getting sick of all the extra work he has to go through since I make him sit there when I go through his things and organize them in front of him. He hates that.
