Donna, glad you are home safe and sound. Sorry about the pain and the way the school handled the situation with your son. But they tend to not think the same way we do as parents of those students and things that are important to us, aren't to them. Not that they should be excused from that indifference, but it happens. When Jake broke his two permanent teeth, they simply put them in a bag and told him to bring them home. They didn't call me so that I could get him into a dentist right away and when I called them on it, they didn't even apologize. They just said well, that is how the teacher decided to handle it. Today was a day for us. Kali had a competition and her team won a trophy for 5th place. That was nice because the other three teams all placed in their divisions as well. Kali was in heaven today because she got to be in front of hundreds of people doing her thing. I wish I could keep her on a stage in front of people every day because she would be perfect. No temper tantrums, talking back, or constant complaining. The boys were not too happy about having to sit through that, but I wanted them to since Kali goes to all of Jake's soccer games and will go to all of Sean's basketball games that are at home. We did send Kay home with my parents after Kali did her routine so we didn't have to deal with a 4 year old all day. I think that was a good choice. As for me, I have done a bit of renovating. I had the flooring guy over the other day and ended up buying carpet for two rooms. One of them has the fireplace in it, and they laid the carpeting right up to the fireplace. Now the fireplace is raised up and there is a ledge that goes out a few inches, but code says 18 inches of something that won't burn so we are going to have that done and then just replace the carpeting in that room with something a bit brighter and more updated. Right now it is a short shaggy style that is brown with flecks of gold in it. It screams 70's. And it is all matted down and so dirty that I have shampooed it twice and vacuum it every day and it pulls up so much dirt that I can't handle walking on that floor. It is never ending, but we did fix the chimney in the fireplace and had our first fire last night with the kids. It was nice. It was even nicer when they ALL went down to the basement to play and left me and my DH alone in front of the fire to enjoy it by ourselves. It was nice to have some quiet time with him. But that was short lived when we heard Kay screaming and Kali telling her it would be ok. She apparently hit her head on the metal post when she ran into it. Other than that, it was an ok night. Tomorrow is a marathon day at church. I teach Sunday school at 8 and the kids go to classes fromit 8 til 10:30 and we go to church as a family at 10:45. So we don't get out til 12:15. But I actually like those days. My church is just an awesome place to be. So anyway, I hope you are all having good weekends and Donna, let yourself get the rest you need and don't worry about feeling lazy or looking at the dishes that probably aren't getting done. Just get well.
