Thanks gang. You've touched me greatly.
OneJohn - thank you for starting this - means a lot.
I'm not totally disappearing, but there are things you do not know about that are helping to drive this decision. It is unclear as to how God will direct in the coming days/weeks/months.
So, since this thread is about me, I hope you'll bear with me as I brag about my quiz team kids.
Yesterday we participated in our first-ever tournament - with virtually no coaching yet, and they rose to the occasion and ended up second in our bracket and went to the playoffs! Granted, we lost there, but, they made it farther than any team had done since back in the early 80's. It was amazing! They played 13 total matches, so they were given 260 questions. Their raw talent was apparent from the beginning - and they are now all excited and want to learn more and want to do better and are now challenging me and my fellow coaches to really train them properly.
IT WAS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm exhausted......I'll be taking a nap now.
Seriously, thanks for the well-wishes, folks. Things are not all that bad - yet, but, they will be soon enough.

I will be - some, as there truly are some amazing people I want to stay in touch with - but, it makes it tough when there are some who seemingly don't want me around.

Oh, they would never say it publically, but I can guarantee some phone lines were burning up with the news and there were many happy cheers when it was announced. I know of what I speak.
I will try to be around - somewhat. I just don't know about my work situation, etc, if I'm going to be able to, and, I have to concentrate on the quiz team kids for the coming few months - they are going to take a lot of my time - but it's worth every second!

Well, we went and played against a bunch of university teams and got destroyed. The questions were definitely WAY above our level of schooling and preparation, but, it was a good experience for the kids so they could play together some more, and create a better sense of being a team.
It was a long day, but, it was a lot of fun.
The ONLY problem I had with the day was that the ENTIRE trip up and back was political talk - much of it nastily slamming all I stand for. That hurt - a lot. I was laying down in the back and obviously not participating in the discussion. A few times I heard how "those right wing freaks" - talking about the talk shows, and "the mindless people who follow them". It was awful. I wanted to be sick. I'm going to wait until near the end of the season and ask them if they think I'm "stupid" - and then say to them, "well, I'm one of those conservative Christians you've been slamming all year". Obviously God has me with these people for a reason - maybe to BE that voice of reason. It's amazing how strongly they believe some of this stuff. Blech.

Since we don't live too far away, we've been to lunch a few times and we've been there for each other. I'm still waiting for her to take me to a soccer game, though (I couldn't make the last one).
