Are you going to see it? If you read the book what did you think of it?

I doubt it will come around here. We pretty much get the blockbusters.

The book, however, is still the only book ever to give me the creeps. So i'll catch it on DVD.

I was just going to post a topic about this movie. I can't wait until it comes out. It sounds pretty interesting. Hopefully it is at the theaters in my area.

MrFribbles -> RE: HOUSE (11/5/2008 12:44:39 PM)

My wife is a bigger Dekker fan than I am, but from the 3 minutes of footage I've seen, I think it will be worth seeing. It's not very often that you get a Christian movie that isn't, well, Left Behind.

tafkam -> RE: HOUSE (11/8/2008 10:01:20 PM)

Just saw it tonight. It was average as far as horror films go, and I'm not sure what earned it an R rating, but it was light years better than agenda driven dreck like FACING THE GIANTS or FIREPROOF....

Lucky you, it's not even playing in my state! I'm looking forward to the dvd.

Was there a good message? The last movie I say anything like this was Thr3e, and I thought it was very well done.

Same here on having to wait for the DVD. Why oh why do we have to wait so long for a This Present Darkness movie?

I would so love to see that made into a movie more than anything else!

Oh I found this... "Despite repeated appeals, the MPAA rated “House” an “R for some violence and terror.”

heavencomedown -> RE: HOUSE (11/14/2008 9:08:38 PM)

Im also a huge Ted Dekker fan, Id love to see it when it comes out.

You and me both. I don't know what will come first in my lifetime, Halley's Comet or a TPD movie.

How is fireproof and facing the giants agenda driven? Even though they are not high budget movies they display the clear cut message of jesus christ being the saviour and our present help in time of need. We as christians should have an agenda of spreading the gospel in a loving manner and these 2 movies do precisly that.

tafkam -> RE: HOUSE (11/24/2008 2:41:07 PM)

Problem, most agenda driven movies, be they Christian films like the Shwerwood pictures or leftist propaganda like the Micheal Moore flicks, are usually pretty bad, and only appeal to a very limited target audience.

You'll have to travel far and wide to find many non-Christians who would sit through the complete running time of something like FACING THE GIANTS, simply because of the sheer incompetence of it's production.

HOUSE was at least fairly well made, but it still flops as a horror film....

That's so sad........... and it's STILL at my local theatre. Guess they must not have anything better to show. (NOTE THE SARCASM, please. I loved Fireproof.)

tafkam -> RE: HOUSE (11/24/2008 6:14:30 PM)

A lot of Christians love FIREPROOF. So what? We claim that we want these films to reach the lost, yet we wonder why they won't sit through a badly made Christian film like FTG, or a movie that basically speaks straight to Christians like FIREPROOF.

But this thread is about HOUSE. I believe that HOUSE had the greatest potential to reach an unsaved audience, because it's message, while evident, was not in-your-face. But the movie just suffered from unsuccessfully trying to cram a 300 page book into a 120 page screenplay.

It's production values were pretty good, though, and if the script had been given an additional polish or two, and labeled with a more appropriate PG-13 rating (why on earth was this thing rated R, can anyone tell me?), it would have been quite possibly the best offering from Christian filmmakers that Christians wouldn't have to make excuses for to their non-Christian friends....

dianetavegia -> RE: HOUSE (11/29/2008 8:22:28 PM)

Well I've never heard of 'House' the movie, only the t.v. show.
