We have both a Young Adult and Higher Learning Ministry at our church. They're centered around a weekly Tuesday Night Bible Study where we praise and fellowship before our Young Adult pastor or co teacher get up to preach. In addition to TNBS we have many other events throughout the year. Quarterly, we have Koinonia and Koffee/Komedy. This is an event where we get together for a night of fellowship and spoken word or Christian comedy. Every February, we host an Agape Affair which our celebration of Valentine's Day. At the end of the year, we get together for our Jesus Celebration which is our final Bible Study of the year. In between all of this, we have many facets of ministry for people to get involved in. I Am My Sister's/Brother's Keeper are groups for women to fellowship with women and men to fellowship with men. The fellowship can range from a day at a Spa to grabbing a bite at Denny's after Bible Study. Other events that we do or have done in the past include: a Super Bowl Party (which is back on for 2009 since the NFL lifted the restrictions) a Cruise to Ensenada a Ski Trip Unity Week (skating night, bowling night, Bible Study with our Bishop etc.) Gospel Bash (a revival that ends with a city-wide Midnight Musical on Memorial Day weekend) Venice Beach Evangelism Outreach at a Juvenile Detention Center Lakers/Clippers Game Outreach at a Children's Hospital Beach Party/Bon Fire Mail care packages to college students during exams Scholarship program Car Wash to raise funds for college students to buy books New Generation Sunday (The Children, Youth, Young Adults take over the Sunday Services) Reading the Bible in a Year for 2009 In our Bible Studies themselves, we've had a Financial Series and a Relationship Series where we studied each topic in depth. In both of those cases, the topics carried over into one of our two Sunday Classes for further discussion. We also do a Super Tuesday where we just come expecting a move from God. Our D.R.A.M.A. Ministry (Delivering Righteous Anointed Ministry Through Arts) performs Biblical skits every fourth Tuesday. The third Tuesday is Fellowship Tuesday where the Fellowship Committee leads the class through fun games designed to help people get to know one another in class. This is really important since we average 150 people each Tuesday. First Tuesday is Brothers on the Frontline when the men of our ministry take over and lead the service. Feel free to take any of these ideas and adapt them for use in your new ministry. If you'd like any more details, please contact me. Don't be discouraged if you can only get small numbers interested at first. Ours actually started with about 8 people per week about 10 years ago. One of the biggest challenges is keeping people involved so they come back.
