I'm running audio at church now and I need some decent headphones. But not super-expensive...it isn't a full-time job or anything.

Can you guys give me some suggestions? In the past, I've used Nady, Sony, AKG and Sennheiser for studio work, but that was a long time ago and this is live.

I love my AKG 240M headphones that I bought about 15 years ago. I've used them when I was doing studio work and for home use, but not for live audio, but I would imagine they would be great for that. Great sound!

As Steve said, I haven't used these to mix live sound, but they're just about the best sounding headphones I've ever heard. Koss Pro4AA

I have a set of Sony MDR-7506, they are moderately priced and have good highs and a solid low end, I use them to monitor my bass while on stage during church service

Ooo...those come in gold. Bah-ling!

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone. I don't expect to buy anything for another week or so, so I'm open to more.

I'll second these. I have the older and smaller 7504 phones but the drivers are similar as is the quality. The 7506 is somewhat of a 'standard' among headphones for under $100, imho.

Yeah, those are fine. I find them a bit uncomfortable if I have to wear them for a long time, but mixing live sound, you shouldn't be on headphones for more than a few seconds at a time anyways. The Sennheiser HD280's are not bad either, are the same price, more comfortable, and seal a bit better if yours ears and head are big like mine. IIRC, they're not as hyped on the high-end, though, so if you need the headphones to drown out background noise (e.g. people singing), they might not work as well. But they do seal better, so that issue may be moot.

Ultrasone's are pretty nice, too, though they're more expensive. B&H has a couple deals going, though. But make sure to get closed-back headphones (i.e. ones that seal around your ear).
