. . . oooooooh!
This one time, at band camp, these kids all wanted Bush to win, and they all said it was because their daddies were voting for him. But they didn't actually know what they were talking about beyond that . . .

So what?

LOL. I have many God-fearing, and some not-so-God-fearing, fellow McCain voting acquaintences that voted for McCain because they didn't want to "vote for a Muslim and Obama is a Muslim no matter what anybody says." They, too, could not give one coherent policy reason for their choice.

Most people vote on emotion, period.

I'm trying to raise a generation that will vote on reason instead. That will be my hope for the future of this country.

Good luck with that.

Actually people should have to answer a few Civics questions before they can vote.

That would be wonderful, but the potential for abuse is too great. (Similar things have been used in the past to unfairly disenfranchise select groups of people.) But if it could be fairly applied...

Other good ideas: raise the voting age to 21 except for military service personnel. (I work with college students on a daily basis - most of them haven't got a clue about life; I certainly didn't at that age.) Or limit voting to taxpayers (no representation without taxation? - you don't contribute, you don't get to say how it's spent).

-Robb

Any age limt has to be across the board. "Maturity" is a subjective observation. And anybody making retail purchases is a taxpayer. Republic/democratic government is it's problems, but I still prefer our elective process over any other country's.

stamper_ben -> RE: Media Malpractice: How Obama Got Elected (11/20/2008 4:08:30 PM)

Zogby's "not interested" in duplicating the poll for McCain voters.

Zogby won’t duplicate Obama poll

That's a shame. It should be done.

Cow stands affirmed![sm=moocow.gif]

From the same link:

“I am happy to do a poll of both Obama voters and McCain voters, with questions that I formulated and sponsored either by an objective third party or by someone on the left, in tandem with a John Ziegler on the right — but poll questions that have my signature,” Zogby said.

“I believe there was value in the poll we did,” Zogby added. “I also believe it was not our finest hour. This slipped through the cracks. It came out critical only of Obama voters.”

Please give us an example of an off shore oil rig enviromental impact we are suffering under today. They have blown up before. They have caused some impact but nothing lasting or any where the impact a growing dependancy on foreign oil would engender.

An age restriction on voting would ensure conservative candidates. It ain't gonna happen.

NO ONE knew who Obama was and they voted for him...answering civics questions would not have changed that.

I have no problem with ignorant people voting. Hopefully the result will be an example to them. I am not afraid that Obama got elected. I am hopeful he will define himself and liberals for who they truly are.....

and with the backstabbing liberal media and the backbiting liberal congress we will definitly find out.

Any less true than what?- that some of Obama's supporters, and McCain's supporters voted from their emotions rather than make a reasonable decision between the two?

If I heard the news report right on this issue,
there was such a stink from the dems that
may be the reason they won't do another.

I for one, would love to see the same thing
of the McCain voters. I don't have anything
to hide or distort.

I think the majority of the US is completely
ignorant on the politics of this great nation
and of the context of Scripture.

As Webster said, "A Biblical Knowledge is
worth more than any College education."

Our biblical ignorance is evident by the political ignorance.
Those who take the effort to KNOW their Bible also take
the effort to KNOW what they vote for.

Knowing the Bible also helps one to know the true (fallen) nature of man, which is invaluable in shaping policy. Any policy that relies on man being "basically good" is doomed to spectacular failure.

The Founding Fathers had a good grasp of this; for example, they split up the powers of government, limited them, and pit them against each other because they knew the tendency of man to be driven by self-interest and corrupted by power.

Small wonder so many government social programs today are such total disasters since they're based on fantasies about human nature rather than the truth of the matter found in the Bible.

One of the things that needs to happen so that we don't have any more debacles like that of Nov. 4, is to take the mass media (ABC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, NBC, NY Times, LA Times, Washington Post, et al.) out of the equation. All of them are nothing more than mouthpieces for the DNC. I know there is "freedom of speech," but what happened this year was over the top.

Another thing that needs to happen is to stop all the illegal voter registrations and early voting. There is too much opportunity for voter fraud. All voting should occur on the first Tuesday in November as it was supposed to be. The only exceptions should be for military and other essential personnel who might not be able to have time off.

Thirdly, voter identification and verification needs to happen. No ID, no vote, end of discussion!

Very good mini-lesson.

We can see what they are doing with the separation of powers
our Founding Fathers had wisdom to initiate.

Can you please show me all of these uninformed McCain voters? I am sure there are some, but evidence seems to indicate that Obama has a near monopoly on the ignoramus vote.

Here we go again . . . you people just don't make any sense to me.

The "evidence" was gathered on just a little over 500 Obama supporters, and no more than 0 of McCain's supporters. The monopoly was in the polling.

In post #57 you wrote that Obama and McCain voters both voted from emotion rather than reason. My point was that this is mere opinion on your part. We have a good piece of evidence demonstrating ignorant Obama voters (not to mention the scores of Jay Walking and Hannity Man-on-the Street Thursday installments that show the same thing), I was asking you to support your claim abut McCain voters.

The "evidence" of 500+ ignorant Obama voters was a much bigger sample than many pre-election polls. And of COURSE there were no McCain supporters! This was a POLL of OBAMA VOTERS! DUH! BIG RED TRUCK! [sm=popsigh.gif]

If the media did indeed elect Obama, then lets pray theya re held accountable. I am afraid though isnce they form public opinion, they won't be
