You're so lucky in Canada. Here in the UK you'd be very fortunate to even find a Christian bookshop. They seem to be closing in most towns. Perhaps a few left in large cities like London, Edinburgh, or where there's a famous Cathedral like Coventry. But most towns don't have any left. As for Christian books in a secular shop or supermarket ... in the UK? Oh dear .... makes you want to cry.

I agree there has been a large secular drift that results in the closing of Christian bookstores. But remember stores such as Barnes & Nobles have closed. Unless one has an imediate need for a book, it is far easier to order it through the 'net.

ORIGINAL: stellaluna There are Christian books all over the place here. It's weird to me that it's weird to you. That's what I was thinking! Although I will admit it was easier to find Christian books in secular stores in the midwest than it is here in CA.

Here in Tennessee, you can find the most popular Christian books everywhere, Wal-Mart, Target, K-mart, used book stores, Books-A-Million, and all the other big book stores, plus there are like 4 Christian Bookstores within about 40 miles of my house, that I know of. There may be more. Praise God for his tools being so readily available in the South!!!!!

I've found a fair number of Christian books in the World's Biggest Bookstore. It's a relatively small section, but it does exist. What I haven't found is a Christian bookstore anywhere near me.

I know there is "Blessings" as well-known Christian bookstore across Canada AND there is also "Mitchell" which is sadly closing down right now. Since you live in Toronto, I am pretty sure they have a branch near you, either of them.

The one good thing for people everywhere is the fact that the internet is loaded with Christian bookstores. I know this isn't much of a help when you don't know what you want to buy, you know, just browsing, but it is alot better than nothing.

Cloak, According to their websites, the nearest Blessings is in Alberta, and the nearest Mitchell is in Brampton. Brampton isn't the other side of the moon, but it's a long way for someone who doesn't drive.

I am sorry about that 9drtr! Thanks to this technology, your closet ones are at your fingertips with a click of your mouse you can purchase however you want from them. I know sometimes we enjoy shopping and going out. But who wants to go out with the coming snow and chilly weather which just started. Check out Wal-mart or Zellers in your area. If they have the Shack and the Purpose of Christmas in a drugstore which is another place to look into, I would imagine they have them abundantly, at least the basic ones in those department stores. Best of luck!

not a fan? because my life is full of trials and my walk with God isnt some happy go lucky merry go round. i prefer my reading to be of books that help me. not tell me what is waiting on the mountain.
