ORIGINAL: csl7037 Well I guess the orange thing is so foreign to me because I've lived in Florida for 25 years. (But I'd never seen that in Indiana either.) My kids would probably equate that with coal! Oh my goodness! If we don't put satsumas in their stockings, I don't know what would happen. Naval oranges won't do either. Those easy to peel little oranges are just so sweet and delicious. I would be sad if my stocking didn't contain at least one. My husband and the kids mostly stuff the stockings, because he lets them get candy and stuff like that. I did buy some handcream and lip balm too though.

Just the kids. I did one for my husband last year, but this year funds are low, so I don't have anything for his stocking. :( My husband really missed out on these things when he was a kid, so I try to make things as fun as possible.

Next year I'm going to make all of ours including ones for all the adults that are here. I know this year my husband didn't get me anything to open but i got him something small from the kids. He is however going to get 2 of my rings sized so i can wear them. They were given to me from my grandmother so i am excited about that.

We LOVE stockings! Last year, we made the switch to stockings for the 3 kids only. (The dogs' gifts are wrapped under the tree ) Stocking are 1st and the kids can get into them before they come wake us up...at least that is the plan...we haven't accomplished it yet because I am a big kid and still get up at the crack of dawn on Christmas morning! We found a treasure trove of goodies at the dollar store this year, ($26 for all 3 stockings!) Notebooks w/ mini pens, bible story books w/ cd's, princess stuff, glow sticks, cereal bowls and cups, those silly squeeze balls, their fav. snack (1 cheetos, 1 fruit snacks, 1 raisins) silly putty and I can't even remember what else! I'm so excited! Growing up, we always had a grapefruit in the toe, my mom's tradition from her childhood and we always did stockings first. I have pretty matching velvet stockings with a red & green harlequin pattern and each child's name embroidered on the cuff.

Here's a link to a picture of all the stockings hanging on the banister. We bought so much stuff to put in them we didn't have room for the candy, and had to put it in a bowl! Thirteen stockings
