Is it bad to admit that I've seen Starship Troopers more than 60 times?

My first response is "Yes." But that's because I read the book a dozen times before the movie came out and the movie is a send up of the book. Still, the movie is a fun actioner if you ignore - or miss - all the "soldiers are Nazis" propaganda.

Actually, I read the book for the first time at the perfect time: about a month before the first time I voted.

Grave of the Fireflies. I would rate this as one of the most beautiful movies ever made, but be prepared with a few things before you watch it:
  • It is Japanese animation, not a live-action movie.
  • It really is best with the original, Japanese audio and English subtitles.
  • Have a large box of tissues handy.
  • The movie's opening line is a voice-over narration of a 14-year old boy. You see him sitting against a column in a train station and falling down, and the opening line is, "September 21, 1945... that was the night I died."
  • The rest of the movie is about how the boy and his four-year-old sister struggled (and failed) to survive in the aftermath of the WWII firebombing of their town in Japan, but do NOT let that dissuade you from seeing this incredible film.

Others, in no particular order:
Life is Beautiful
Young Frankenstein
The Princess Bride
Dr. Strangelove
A Christmas Story
Snatch
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Monsters, Inc.
Ratatouille
Men in Black
Independence Day
The Great Escape
The Magnificent Seven
Seven Samurai
Charade
The Shawshank Redemption
The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (BBC Wonderworks version)
Where Eagles Dare
The Guns of Navarone
Who's Minding the Mint
Bringing up Baby
His Girl Friday
The Nightmare Before Christmas
Metropolis
Henry V (Kenneth Branagh version)
Much Ado About Nothing (Kenneth Branagh version)
You've Got Mail
