"Blessed are those who have been persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven." Matthew 5:10
Remember the prisoners, as though in prison with them,
and those who are ill-treated, since you yourselves also are in the body.Hebrews 13:3
Please pray today for those who are persecuted for following Jesus Christ. These are just two of the many, many life stories we can find on the internet.
China - According to Christian Post.com persecution of house church Christians in Beijing increased 418 percent in 2008. Persecution.org reports that the U.N. is meeting today in attempts to put pressure on China to end its abuses. Persecution.org has an individual's personal story in this article "Shuang Shuying, 79, Released From Prison; Her Open Letter Reveals Torture".
UK - According to this Persecution.org article, a foster mother has been removed from the register list for fostering because a 16 years old muslim girl in her care converted to Christianity.
Father, blessed be Your Holy Name,
We lift up holy hands and give You all the glory.
We are full of thanksgiving for each and every person who is saved by the blood of Your Precious Son, Jesus.
Lord, we are grieved, though, when we hear of our brothers and sisters throughout this world who face varying degrees of persecution.
We ask You, in accordance to Your Will, to bless these individuals with continued courage and strength, may You provide for them all that they need.
I pray for China, may the leaders allow freedom for Christians to worship and may Christianity continue to spread there.
I pray those in charge of this situation in the United Kingdom to see the error of their ways. May the foster mother be blessed and be enabled to raise children in a godly home.
You know so much more what is needed. Thank You for hearing our prayers in the name of Your Son, our Redeemer, Jesus.

Father,
The world is full of Christians who might be tortured or murdered just because they trust Jesus and live their faith.
Reach down and surround these precious brothers and sisters with protection.
Extend to them all of the provisions they need to be able to live and survive in that environment.
I ask that You would keep them true to Your will and true to Your Word.
Give them strength and courage as they seek to share the Good News with others.
Lord, forgive me for my own failures. I am humbled when I know what others go through to even be able to worship.
I thank You for them and ask that You would bless their lives abundantly.

Dear Lord,
Please be with those who are persecuted for their stand for you, send help and comfort and strength and deliverance. Lord it may be that we ourselves might face the same sort of persecution someday, we don't know what the future holds, when that time comes, father please help us. Please give us the strength we need at the time we need it. In Jesus name I pray, amen.

kidsofcourage.com is a website for children to learn about Christians who are persecuted in this world. The Spotlight article discusses the problems Christian children are facing in the public schools. At the end of the article it asks for prayer: quote:
Pray for Students in Pakistan -- Some Christian students in Pakistan are tempted to pretend they are Muslims so the teachers and kids will like them. Pray they will stay strong in their faith. Sometimes Muslims notice the strength of bold Christians and decide to follow Jesus.
On one end there is so much sadness, but on the other there is so much HOPE. An article at Persecution.org speaks on the current revival:quote:

Heavenly Father, we praise You for revival.
We pray for these new brothers and sisters in Christ,
May they be strengthened in their faith, protected from any evil, and emboldened by The Holy Ghost to preach the Gospel.
May unbelievers around them be drawn to Your Light, seek Your Word and find The Way to You.
Please make a way for these school children to not fear; bless them and the children around them.
Please be with this man while he is awaiting court. May Your justice and will be served.
Help us not to become bitter in our hearts but to reach out and pray for those who have yet to come to Your flock.

Please touch the hearts of Government Officials in Iraq and America to make the right decisions.

NORTH KOREA
christianpost.com reports: There are an estimated 200,000 Christians in the reclusive communist country, which has topped Open Doors’ annual list of countries where persecution against Christians has been most severe for the last six years in a row...“Christianity is treated as ‘a bad element’ in this socialist country. Christians have been beaten, arrested, tortured, or killed because of their religious beliefs,” he added.

An American mission group said Thursday, February 12, it has launched an 'Underground University' to help exiled North Koreans to return and evangelize in North Korea or to spread Christianity among North Koreans in other countries, including in China... According to opendoorsusa.org Saudi Arabia ranks 2nd on their World Watch List of countries that are the worst persecutors of Christians. operationworld.24-7prayer.com states: Saudi Arabia is possibly the most dangerous place in the world for a Christian to live; they are arrested, imprisoned and face the death penalty for what they believe.

IRAN
According to opendoorsusa.org Iran ranks 3rd on their World Watch List of countries that are the worst persecutors of Christians.
Pray for iran.org asks for prayer for..."For the persecuted Church in Iran – The Church has experienced severe persecution and restrictions since the 1979 revolution. In the last year, this intimidation of Christians has intensified. We pray for protection, wisdom and boldness for our brothers and sisters in Iran. For Revival in Iran – Most of Iran’s 70 million people have never had the opportunity to hear the Gospel. We pray that every Iranian will hear and understand the Gospel and that millions will repent and be saved. For God to intervene in the political situation – We pray that God will give Iran righteous and humble leaders who will act justly and love mercy.

AFGHANISTAN
Christianity.com states: Afghanistan rose from seventh to fourth place. According to the Open Doors World Watch List, the country moved up on the list as a result of the increased pressure from the Taliban movement during 2008
Operationworld.org challenges for prayer: - Pray for a just, fair and honourable government to be raised up for this tragic land.
- Pray also for the entry and distribution of God's word in this closed land, which the Taliban is seeking to prevent.
- Pray also that the small fellowships (many are family groups) of Afghan Christians that have come into being... may become bold witnesses for Christ for the 70 unreached peoples of this land that may ultimately lead to a great harvest

Today, I lift Afghanistan, its government, its people and our beloved fellow brothers and sisters in Christ up in prayer.
I thank You that You do not forget the helpless.

Dear heavenly Father,
For those sisters and brothers in Christ that we may not ever even see their face until heaven, be with them Lord, be ever near them and protect them from danger. I pray you bless them in a special way for carrying on your word in spite of danger to themselves and their families. Father we take forgranted our safety and freedom sometimes, thank you for that blessing, but help us not to forget those who don't have that. In Jesus name I pray, amen.

SOMALIA
According to opendoorsusa.org Somalia ranks 5th on their World Watch List of countries that are the worst persecutors of Christians.
Country profile @opendoorusa.org states: The Somali church has been driven underground. There are only a few hundred believers. Evangelism is possible, but limited. Conversion can be punishable by arrest, imprisonment and even death.
opendoor.org's Prayer Points for Somalia:
* For a government that will govern for the people.
* For the Lord to open the doors for missionaries again.
* Pray for boldness and enduring courage for believers in Somalia.
* Pray for safe distribution of the Somali Bible

* Pray for the boldness to believe that the humanly spoken "impossible" will happen.
Heavenly Father, we lift the nation of Somalia, our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ, and all the people of Somalia up in prayer in accordance to Your Will.
For the government we seek changes that will safely enable the spreading of the Gospel making a way for missionaries to come and for the distribution of the Somali Bible.
For the small percentage of Christians living in that country please protect them, encourage them as they endure this mission and bless them abundantly.
