Good to hear, Garsy.

I'm sure the party will be a great success, Nicole. What are you serving?

Poor Beth just fell asleep. The congestion is doing a number on everyone.

* quietly sneaks into the thread and settles down *

Spring is coming quite messily here to central California. The grass is all soggy and muddy. My car is all dirty and rain-splattered. We're fostering a ginormouse chocolate labrador who wants desperately to track muddy pawprints inside .... and we already have mosquitoes!!!! In March!!!!!! And a giant spider (quarter-sized) was lurking in my pantry the other day! Anyway .... that's my mini-messy-Spring rant!

I went grocery shopping today and was so frustrated because the grocery store was completely re-arranged and I didn't have time to look for everything I wanted! AArrrgh.. where the bread USED to be is now ... candles? Umm.... ok. And where in the world did they hide the margarine and butter? Oh well, I need to go out again tomorrow, and will be visiting a different store.

This is one of those impossible-to-plan dinner weeks since my wonderful DH is flying back-to-back missions all week, and he could be home anywhere from 6pm to midnight. I've had leftovers the past 2 nights ... but now need to figure out dinners for the rest of the week.

Oh, and "HI" everyone!

Hi Harvie- I hate when things get moved around in the shops too!

Ruth- praying for your family, its not good being unwell.

The party- well its Italian/Greek sort of theme (with some mexican and spanish thrown in there). So there will be lasagna, spaghetti bolognaise, chicken pasta bake, nacho's, garlic bread, pizza, foccacia, greek salads, a greek pasta and lamb dish that I am making, green bean dish that I am making. And there will be platters to start with and dips and stuff like that. My friend is making a choc mud cake for me, mmmmmmm. Have to let the calories go for that night!!

Nicole, I'm drooling.

Josiah just headed off to the county court for a tax appeal hearing. He is hoping to lower the taxes on our home. Total mess getting everything together. Some of the pictures that he thought he took didn't show up on either camera or in our picture files, so he was mad about that. And I was running around getting 1 hour prints done on the film camera at 7 pm last night, hoping that some of the ones he wanted were on the film. They weren't. But we did get some good ones of our completely rotten driveway.

Yesterday we went to the zoo with my mom and sister. I didn't get a whole lot of pictures because of the stupid camera not working right. It was pretty quiet but we saw some need stuff. Biruk was fascinated to watch the baby elephant nursing. I'm sure that opened up some brand new neuron pathways. We also saw the zoo's octopus tearing apart a starfish. Totally gross but hard to stop watching either.

Garsy, I'm so glad to hear ds's fever is coming down. High fevers are on the top of my Things That My Kids Do That Makes Me Freak Out list lol!

Maggie, I want to go to the zoo so bad! The last time we went was right before I got pregnant with my 4th and he's 9 mos. now, so I really want to go. It's one of my favorite places, right after the aquarium. We live near our state capitol, but nowhere near either a zoo or an aquarium. At least they are within a few hours' distance, though. I want to take Aaron soon.

I admit I am not a zoo person, but they are wonderful for children. It was a treat taking Nathan the first time he was really old enough to understand what he was seeing.

I am going to the zoo on Sunday!! I LOVE going to the zoo so I am very excited!! This will be David's 2nd time going. I have been to the zoo here at least 20 times. This will be my 3rd time in a year.

I went to the Atlanta zoo once. It was okay. My sister loved seeing the pandas. I like the NC zoo better though.

Right now we only have North America and Africa. They are going to start building an Asia or Australia section soon. I really hope they do Asia!!

Garsy, lol well he's 11 years younger than me so I'll still call him your lil' guy. How's he feeling today? I hope he's feeling better.

(((Ruth))) Poor baby girl. I hope Beth's congestion goes away. How long has she been sick?

Harvie, our last grocery store re-arranged things too right before we moved. Lorne stayed in the car while I ran in to get 2 things. It ended up taking 15 minutes because I couldn't find the pasta. It was in the dumbest area too... right by the veggies in the corner. Our new grocery store is so simple and easy to find everything!

Mmmmm chocolate cake... I want some! I so wish I could come to your party Nicole. That would be the funnest day ever!

(((((((Jennifermonkey))))))))) I feel lousy too. I wish you could have stayed home today. I wold not want to be out right now.

EmilyAnn,

We're about an hour and 1/2 from the zoo in NC, I think. At least, I'm pretty sure that's how long it took us to get there last time. I really really enjoyed it, although we went during the summer, and I was wearing jeans and thought I might have a heat stroke! We estimated that we walked around 6 miles that day whew! I really loved it though.

Here's a funny story about that zoo trip. They had a big ol' gorilla and the plexiglass viewing area had a pane that was broken out and boarded up next to another pane that was cracked. He was just sitting there staring at us (he was so close that if the plexiglass wasn't there we could have touched him!) and then all of a sudden when my dh walked up, he started making this noise that made his chest vibrate and then he jumped up and smacked the plexiglass so hard that it wasn't too difficult to figure out what had happened to the other two panes lol! I have it on video and every time my husband would speak, the gorilla would look at him with just this mean look! It was so funny!!! He was literally cutting his eyes over at my husband. You can hear my then 10-year old boy saying, "Daddy, I don't think this monkey likes you AT ALL."

Hi ladies! I've just been lurking since we've been so busy, but I've been reading! We went to MO for 5 days over the weekend for Isaac's birthday party and a family vist. It was a good time! It's so springlike here today! Going to be around 80F!! Yay!

Zoo . . . . we're going on the 28th of this month to the Tulsa Zoo. We took Isaac to the St. Louis zoo in '06 but Isabel was just 6 months old so this will be her first good trip. I'm so excited to take them!!

We booked a cruise for our 10th anniversary later this summer!! Hubby and I have never been anywhere together and never had a honeymoon, so we're really looking forward to it! Neither one of us have ever seen the ocean. . . . . . . (well, I saw the harbor in NYC, but I don't think that really counts as seeing it from a good beach or a cruise ship)

Awesome, Rachel. Where will your cruise ship be stopping?

Chocolate cake does sound yummy. I'll have to wait to Easter, though. (Gave up chocolate for Lent.)

Beth's been congested for a few days, but she's getting a good nap now, though. She needs it. My mom is visiting and it's a good thing. I was gonna take us all out to lunch, but my battery was dead. It's been a very long time since I've had to jump a car, so I pulled out both car manuals to make sure I was doing it right. I'm kinda proud of myself. LOL Silly isn't? We ended up eating lunch at home, though.

Yay, Rachel! I've been perusing vacation sites trying to decide what we want to do... I think we've settled on renting a condo in San Juan for a week over Thanksgiving.

We're departing from the port in New Orleans (awesome because we can just drive there, no airfare), then the ship heads to Mexico. Progreso and Cozumel, then back to New Orleans. It's a 5 night cruise.

Nice. Isabel just got into Isaac's brand new pack of pencils and bit all the erasers off. She brought me a handful. She is a handful.

Maggie- I am sooooo jealous! I haven't been to your zoo since we moved (sigh- has it been three years???)- last night the girls and I watched Jon and Kate and they went there- the new polar bear thing is sooooo cool- is that connected to where they used to have the dolphin, or is it totally separate from the aquarium. I love that you can do the loop and be done in a morning- the zoo here takes at least three days to see everything- which is good and bad...

Rachel- next time you are up, we should meet at the zoo (unless you don't come until June, then we'd have to do something inside or we'll all melt or pass out)

Garsy- glad your guy is doing better- yes, pray for his wife, my hubby drives me bonkers...and your son sounds worse!

EmilyAnn- next time you are in PA, you should try for a zoo visit- depending on how far north or south of B. you are, the zoo is only about 40 minutes from the southern end of that town... I bet David would LOVE the fish.

Harvie- I *hate* when grocery stores move stuff- I make my list in order of the store!

I got my new glasses today and x-rays at the dentist- no cavities, and all three girls behaved so well, the tech let them pick a prize after my x-rays. I *love* it when they do well in public....now if they were just like that all the time at home...

Grace is scheduled for Tuesday at ten to have her sweat test. I am hoping to have results by next Friday. I'm doing a little better after blowing off some steam at hubby (he had it coming, and I think I handled it pretty well, stuck to facts, no insults or yelling, just bullet items that need fixed/addressed) and getting some sleep. Whether or not she has it can't be changed, so I need to let it go until we know something more...

Hope you all are having a nice day- I'm putting all the girls down for an early nap to help them get ready for the weekend change- ahhhh.... can't wait to change all the clocks after lunch on Saturday (for those who haven't figured this out, you spring ahead *early* so even the big kids go to bed early, but you don't "fall back" until everyone is asleep- that way you get the extra hour, not them!)

Yahooo! How exciting! I've never been on a cruise. I wonder if I'd like it. Mmmm erasers... are you sure she's a kid and not a puppy? How's that baby goat doing?

Jennifer(room2grow), that's cool that your girls got a prize for behaving so well! I'm glad that you're doing a bit better today.

JennLeigh, that gorilla seemed to be very angry. The gorilla's at our zoo have been dying since they changed their area. It's bigger, but I don't think they liked the change. They don't play at all. They just sit looking sad. A baby gorilla recently died because another female who lost her baby stole it and couldn't feed it. The zoo keepers couldn't get her to give them the baby so it died. It makes me so sad seeing the gorilla's at our zoo now. Before they would run around and swing and look so silly. Now they are just depressed.

Ugh, I hate Daylight savings. Nathan did not go down early today, though we've started trying to push his bedtime back. It may take a full week.

I don't mind daylight savings in the Spring at all. I am looking forward to it being light out until 11pm soon. It gets dark around 6:30 now and that's when I start feeling soooooo tired. It's so hard to feel awake when it's dark outside. I can't wait to sit on our deck in the sun in the evening!

Nicole, the funniest thing about it was that as long as just me or the boys were the ones talking, he actually seemed very playful. He was throwing hay up into the air and really just being silly. As soon as my husband would speak, he would stop and just cut his eyes over at him. I was laughing so hard I couldn't breathe!

LOL maybe he was jealous of your husband. Does your husband happen to look like a very handsome gorilla by any chance?
