Garsy, that is a wonderful blessing indeed! My boys were able to go to church camp two years ago due to the generosity of a couple that my husband works with. They paid the entire fee for both of them, which was close to $600, and both of my boys were saved during that camp, so I'd say I am eternally grateful for their gift!

They won't be going this year, since we haven't attended church since I found out I was pregnant with Aaron Shame on us, I know. I have been feeling conviction over this for a very long time, and I know that I am all out of excuses, so it's time to get back to church. Anyhoo, in order for my boys to attend camp, they have to get their scholarships through AWANA and since they haven't attended AWANA, they can't get the scholarships. BUT, we are determined for next year, since they will both be attending the middle school camp and we've heard a lot of cool things about it!

Speaking of church camp...my two oldest are going next week to camp. They are so excited!!!! (They have never been to camp before). It's a free camp here where we live...and Hubby is going to go as a counselor since he will be off work!!! (He is so excited too...he never went to camp as a kid I guess).

church camp is always so much fun!!

I went for YEARS as a child and really wish we could find a good, reasonably priced church camp around here. But then again, my kids are so busy with scout camp and other camps that there isn't all that much time for any other camps and STILL have a summer!

Blessings,

Garsy

I'm doing ok. Such an adjustment to two kids. Things have changed dramatically since yesterday though, and I feel like a new woman (see mommy's milk thread)
I think I will be able to handle the two kids ok, I'm just worried about getting enough sleep. Baby is sleeping pretty well though, but her long stretch tends to be in the evening, instead of bedtime. If we can get that straightened out, it might work out ok. Chase has been getting up between 6 and 7, which seems early to me when I've been up til midnight then again at 4... I just have to remember, it will all pass! Things will get better, and I'm not the first, LOTS of women before me have had 2 kids and lived through it!

Chase is still acting out quite a bit, but he's still adjusting too. And he's probably not used to having daddy around in the daytime either.

I'm trying to organize the baby's room, we aren't quite done the renovating in there, so we have to move everything out and then finish up and put stuff back. Hoping I can get some help with that from some family or friends. I'm terrible at trying to organize!

Yolanda, you have the right idea ... it has been done before, can be done again! I don't remember much about the first few weeks with #2 home ... I think I blocked it out! I am beginning to wonder how everything could possibly end well with two crazy toddlers, a newborn and a cesarean but alas, God knows. I really hope this new one doesn't have any "issues" ... Claire was easy, Ava was a little less so because she was confused about day v night and what to do during each (sleep or cry? sleep or cry?). But again, God won't send along something I can't handle, right? Right!

Are any of you all in the middle of the "great rain storm of 2009"? We've just been swamped with endless rain! As I write, though, there is a hint of sunshine coming through and I think we'll get more of that until tonight when the next wave hits!

it's been raining like a cow peeing on a rock here for the last few days. Odd. But I think you're only one state over from me...

Nope, warm and sunny here, but the month of May was very rainy.

So glad to be home. We're all exhausted but fine. Nathan has a heat rash, but he and daddy are napping and my mom is here playing with Beth. I love my mom.

We had a wild thunderstorm Wednesday night. It was downright scary (for me, the kids thought it was grand).

We have had a weird week because of VBS. It's 4 hours (!) in the evening, kinda threw our schedule off. But Asrat has loved the whole week and Gebre finally figured out how to settle down enough to enjoy it. Today when the teacher's helper came out to greet him he said so excitedly "Hi!! Welcome back!!".

So Biruk is an only child for a few hours these days. I don't think he enjoys it much. His brothers have never been absent from his life so he's constantly looking for them or asking about them.

Yolanda, you'll get through this adjustment time! Hang in there!

What?! Sandy, you say the funniest things.

Maggie, VBS already!!! They don't start here until after 4th of July. Are schools out there?

Well, I messed up our checkbook. Yay, me. It's been a while since I've done that. We got a check for mileage reimbursement today, so ran that up to the bank to stop the problem quickly.

I feel like doo-doo. Allergies, hugely swollen angry red eyes, and all. Yay.

On the way home from the bank, Noah and I herded two giant goats back to their farm. They were right in the middle of the road, and those things were BIG! Bigger than deer! Noah was afraid, I think, but wouldn't let on.

Schools end here just before Memorial Day, so VBS's are in full swing all over the place.

Sorry to hear about the allergies, Donna.

I have had the most blessed last two days. Aaron has been fairly easygoing, despite trying desperately to get a molar in. He has gone off to sleep without his bottle and without a hitch for the most part. He's a crab when he's up, but I can deal with that as long as I know sooner or later, he's going to go to sleep !

I had a very good week with the Good Lord showing me all kinds of things I need to work on, and I have found it is so much easier to let Him show me these things with an open heart instead of walking around whining and wondering why He is picking on poor ol' me!

I sewed my very first stitches ever on a sewing machine (something I have wanted to learn to do for years and years), and I even started my first-ever project. I sewed the end of my tote-bag project together, pressed the seams flat and then open, and stood back with my chest ever-so-slightly swelled with pride. . . and then realized I had sewn the top shut instead of the bottom together. So, I also spent my very first afternoon as a sewing woman ripping out my first-ever seams with my very own first-ever seam ripper.

Ahhhh, Friday night, Aaron's sound asleep in his crib, the boys are off to various activities, and there are no cows peeing on any rocks around here today. Can't say the same for the past week, but not today.

I'm not sure what to do with myself when there are no boys around needing my every moment of attention. . . I just realized I'm sort of bored

Manda - I'm praying for Sarah!! It's so hard when they are so young!

Day camp is done for Zoe.

Now we have 3 weeks before Ty does his two week stint at the zoo.

I've decided to have a garage sale next weekend to raise the rest of the funds my dd needs for her arts camp and the remaining money we need for Brian to go to camp with Ethan at the end of July. All of it has to be in by July 1st.

My hubby has two papers to finish before next Friday too. He got an extension from his last term college classes finals due to his Grandmother's death but now those papers need to be finished!

We've also heard that they are apparently calling 20 or so more people back to work starting on the 29th of the month, but we don't know if Brian is one of those yet. Please pray that he is. It's hard to believe but unemployment for me is become the new normal and I don't want it to. Thankfully a lot of the folks we owe money to are willing to work with us, but for how much longer we don't know.

Blessings,

Garsy

Manda, praying for your daughter...and for you!

Garsy, I hope he is one called back. You've been on this up and down thing for employment forever. I'm sure it's more than tiring.

Kids would not settle down tonight. I spanked Levi 6 separate times because he just would not stay in his bed. I don't feel well and got really upset, so Brian went up the stairs to put some fear of Daddy in them. Yes, Brian went up the stairs! The first time he has been up there in 11 months now! He said he's not doing it again any time soon though. But he did it!!!!

Way to go Donna! I think sometimes our children will test us over and over again just to see if we will follow through all 6 times (or 8 times as happened once in our house!). In our experience, we usually found a real change in attitude once morning came. . . at least for a little while .

I'm pretty sure that Brian's demeanor, once he got up those stairs was sensed by the kids as well!

It did. Hehe...Noah and Nick especially have been known to push things and then run up the stairs because they think they are safe there. Well, they do have to come down to eat sometime, but now that they know Brian CAN get up there, he won't have to, KWIM?
