It's worth a try, Ryanne. Thank you.

Some of my old demons have begun to rear their ugly heads. I'm gonna wear long sleeved shirts for a while, as I don't want to upset dH in his recovery. I know what I should do and how to handle it; I just let my stress and emotions run away with me. I should know better.

Manda, he knows I'm stressed, and he's trying to help as best he can. I really think I should be handling it a little better. Greg and the kids need me to be the strong one right now, and Greg is getting better every day.

I'll be ok. I'm feeling better this evening then I was earlier today. We're all just a little tired. Beth was almost asleep, till she started coughing so hard she spit up all the breast milk she'd just drunk. But she seems happy now. I hope to get her to sleep in a little while.

I hope she sleeps for you.
Sleep deprivation just plain sucks. There's a reason it's a form of torture!

I'm glad Greg is doing okay. Justin is having back surgery in about 4 weeks.

Oh wow, Sandy. What is his expected recovery time? I'll be praying for him ... and you!

4-6 weeks. He already has orders for 30 convalescence, after that he'll be evaluated to see if he can go back on profile or stay home longer.
Thanks Ruth!

((((Ruth)))) I wear long sleeves most days anyway, it hurts me to see the looks on the boys' faces when they notice my scars. They are fading, but I'm sure I'll always see them. You are in my prayers.

Today was fun, and thankfully, with very little stress or bickering. My 12-year old had a playoff football game today and we packed a picnic and took it with us. Aaron had a little bit of a fever, but he was an angel considering. He learned how to kick a soccer ball, and now I'm waiting to see what else he'll kick once he realizes this new skill can be used for other things!

Sandy, do you have a date for the surgery yet? What exactly are they doing, if you don't mind saying?

So...I'm going to a Superchick/Barlow Girl concert tomorrow, taking Hannah. A lady from church is coming over to stay with Brian, Noah, and Levi. Esther is going to spend the night with my mom because she doesn't do well at home when I am not there, but she's fine anywhere else. Nick stayed at his mom's this weekend because we are pretty sure he has H1N1, and now Noah has a fever and bad headache. The rest of us are well, and I'm kind of thinking we may have had it already a few weeks ago. I'm still going on my trip. Feeling a bit guilty about that, but...yeah...

ETA...gross with a capital G...Brian just had me pull out one of his staples. This is the second one that one side has come out and then we have to pull the other side out because it pokes him right in the incision if we don't! I wonder how many of his 60-some staples are going to still be there when we go to get them out on Tuesday?

I'm pretty sure it's THIS. He has a herniated disk in his lower back that has been getting consistently worse.
Not a big deal from what I hear, so I can't complain! I'm so glad he's getting this done. He shouldn't have been deployed last time it's so bad. Some days he can't take his boots off without help. The surgery is Dec. 4 in the afternoon sometime. MIL and my dear friend are going to help watch the kids for me.

LOL @ the staples Donna. That's hilarious. And Gross. Really Gross.

WOOHOOO for the concert. What a wonderful time for you. You should NOT feel guilty. Just go and enjoy yourself.

So this hovers the kids are sick with coughs, runny nose and tiny fevers. Now I am sick. It is no fun to have sick kids and then be getting sick. OK I have one kid who feels good he was sick earlier in the week. He his running and playing and being a boy which usually isn't a big deal but it is so loud this morning.

Hi Choosethepositive!

We have a folder that we call the Maternity Ward. We have all sorts of threads in there, I'm sure if you ask your question in the appropriate thread someone will be glad to help you. This thread really isn't the proper thread to discuss baby issues.

May I join y'all? I often shy away from threads like this as it gets going and it's hard to keep up with all the 'chatting'. I sometimes can't keep the stories straight. But I need people of like minds to talk to. I'm at home all day (and night for that matter) with littles and it's hard to remember that I have a brain. Sometimes I feel like wiping butts and noses is all I'm good for and known for. Do you know I have a BA? A lot of good it's doing me. Sometimes I feel bad for my parents that they paid all that money and I have nothing to show for it other than a piece of paper. Expensive paper. I know it's a time, I know I know. But sometimes I just feel forgotten about.

So I'll do my best to keep up, but I'm not promising anything.

Hi Kathryn!!!

I'm Harvie, a 44-year-old SAHW and kitty mom! My wonderful DH is active duty military (a pilot), and we live in central California with a house-full of rescued kitty cats. I left the work world four years ago (2005) to stay home and "just be a wife" ... and I love it! Welcome to our happy little encouragement thread!

What's your B.A. in? Are you planning to homeschool your little ones?

Oh yeah, sorry, I should intro myself.

Hi, I'm Kathryn , I turn the big 3 - 0 in 9 days. Yes, I still love having birthdays. My husband is a pastor, I have the same degree he has, a BA in Religious studies, christian studies emphasis, pastoral studies focus. I could be ordained if I had entered the program after 25, I did not, because I do not feel God calling me to be a pastor. Now preaching is a different thing, I feel God has given me a gift, but that's not for this time. I have preached, mostly when I was in college, but that's going to be a different time, I suppose. Most people don't know that about me. I have two children, Nadia, 4, who really keeps me on my toes. Rhys, my little man, 1, who is just learning to walk on his toes, so I can still keep up with him. I am an avid seamstress, I love to bake bread, cook and do laundry. I'm into all things natural. I love to garden. I am currently working on a quilt for Andrew and I that I just can't wait to get done. And I am at least 2 hours from any friends or family.

I was planning on homeschooling my children, but realized that I wasn't sure if I could give them the justice their education deserved. So we are going to do a PA charter school. We feel it is the best of both worlds, we can still have a good hand in their education, but yet someone else is actually educating them. My daughter and I have, well, issues, she respects other authority better than me. I don't think her education would be the best. Now Rhys is yet to be seen.

Hello Kathryn, welcome to the thread. I have a hard time keeping everything straight as well but there are some very gracious ladies on here. I am getting ready to turn 38 myself. I have a 2 year old and a 6 month old and somedays I wonder if I was really meant to be wiping bottoms and noses all day long. I was a "career" woman before I met and married my husband and we had children. I never thought being a homemaker would be my thing. God has a sense of humor at times. Turns out, being a homemaker is what I really love to do. All those gifts that served me in the corporate world serve me even better at home. It has beena time of great growth, not always so easy but growth none the less. I have really had to rely on God. Of course, that is always a good lesson to learn.

Rough day, or rough night last night. Little man is seriously teething. That child teethes like 4 at a time. So my plan is shot. No working out for me today. I simply have no sleep. Maybe I will do some light cleaning and heavy snuggling. Tomorrow is becoming my regular cleaning day but I good do some stuff to help out today.

Although I do clean every day, I mean come own I have a 2 year old, I am finding that I don't care to break up my big cleaning throughout the week. I really like to know it out in one day and then I feel more free the rest of the week. Life is a series of discovering what works.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Hi Kathryn! It's good to see you here.

My girl is going into the doctor today. She's coughing so bad she is coughing up a lot of her food and breast milk. I don't know if the doctor can help, but things sure aren't getting any better. She's sleeping ok, but the 2 year old is keeping us up at night. Things are seriously backwards.

My dH just told me this morning he would support us homeschooling if that's what I really wanted, but he doesn't feel such a call himself. dH is also continuing to dream of a bigger/better house. *sigh* I feel fine in what we have, but I know dH isn't really happy. And if we could sell this one, we'd be in a good position to upgrade. I trust Greg; I trust him to make sound financial decisions. I just don't know if I want to go through all the stress of selling and buying a house.

He did say that if we do try to sell; he would budget in a once a week housecleaning to help me keep the house looking nice.

Poor Beth. I hate coughing that hard, it happens when I have asthma attacks and it is absolutely no fun.

Good luck with the house decision! I seriously hate moving, which is why we are staying in our current apartment until we buy a house. I am not moving more times then necessary.

Ruth, I hope Beth feels better. I do not like to hear my babies cough and feel like there is nothing I can do.

Ryanne, I am with you. Just the idea of moving could keep me in this house.

I am good at moving...doesn't mean I like it all the time though. (We have moved 13 times in 11 years of marriage and I have moved 32 times in 32 years of life). I just hope/pray that our move next summer is across the world so I don't have to do much.
