Yay Rosie! Family time is so important:

smiling because friends have unexpectedly provided sewing help and an offer of extra bedrooms for GP1's wedding in 2 weeks. You just never know who is going to come through...

Smiling because I've already slept in 'till 11.

Smiling because today is Memorial Day (here in the US at least) and my grandpa served in the Navy during WW2 as well as a few other wars...I don't remember exactly, but I think the Korean and maybe the Vietnam wars as well.

Smiling because I have the silliest friend who knows how to make me laugh so hard I cry!

I am smiling today because I had a wonderful weekend.

Last night I had a cookout/movie night (it was rainy and nasty out) and the only ones I invited were my little girls plus one.....I now have four little girls......

Funny when people ask how your weekend was and you answer wonderful they assume you went somewhere big, like the 500, or did something really exciting......

They don't expect a wonderful weekend to be experienced by just doing normal every day things with the people you love.

Thursday night I found myself sitting in a strip of land about 10 yards wide dividing the out field fences of two softball diamonds watching my two nieces play ball while holding my littlest nice who is not quite two months old.......there is no other place I would rather of have been......and watching K hit a ball over the out fielders head and making it to third base.......my you would have thought my team just won the world series.......pride is not always a bad thing.

Friday night, not just me, but half my family which means four sisters and all their children plus my mother all went to my nephews game.......sitting in the grass, talking, watching the game, catching up on life........being with my family....is there any better way to spend a cool spring evening?

Sat I went garage sale hopping with two sisters, we went to breakfast then around town. One sister bought a bike, another bought my old bike, and I spent the afternoon teaching them how to change the tires, adjusting the brakes and getting the old bikes into good working condition.......working together with my sisters.....my idea of a working vacation.

Sunday after church I went to the beach with a good friend. The temperature was cool. Much too cold to swim......we laid in the sun and talked until it was too cold then we hiked the dunes to warm up.......laid in the sun again then left.........still having plenty of time before sunset we drove the shore stopping to see different beaches.......not really talking in the car...just enjoying the scenery........we stopped and got something to eat and then went to another beach to watch God paint the sky as we said goodbye to the day........a perfect day with a friend.

Monday I did house work, cleaned, worked in the yard, planted some of my garden and then had the four girls over to my house.....it was the best of nights.

People seem surprised when I share, the excitement still in my voice, all I did over the holiday weekend.......I am sure to many my days seemed common and everyday......not really exciting or worthy of the title of holiday.......yet I can't imagine a better three day weekend then the one I just had.......each day, each memory is making me smile as big today as it did the day I was living it........everyday activities done with the people in your everyday life can sure make any day more special then everyday. Day by day experiences make me smile.

I had a wonderful smile worthy evening last night- Mr.now5 "graduated" from pre-school, lol. So I got to attend his very first graduation, and hope someday to attend his last graduation too! They even wore graduation "gowns" . I think they were probably the childrens choir robes. We took picutres, of course, someday it will be so fun to put that one next to his High School and then College grad pictures .

It was cute. They sang the songs they've learned, had a picture slide show, the teachers had made little books with pictures of the kids and what they had done for the year... very nice. It was held in the sanctuary, they had a little bridge set up in the front and the kids walked across the bridge and got a diploma, hand shake and hug from the teacher!

Wonderful smiles last night, and now- remembering it.

Well, u all.....

Dont really know where to post this.......i am getting into the smiles.

Decisions have been made.........and i've decided to pack up my apartment here and head back home. Give some stuff away, and then put the rest of my stuff in storage. This summer will be about getting me in order and then looking for a job. These last couple of months have been way too stressful, and painful........

Soo, i am smiling at the fact that my paths crossed with some amazing children, and some amazing Christians that looked beyond politics, ethnicity, and other ideas, and majored on the fact that we are children of God. Also, other then educational ideas and theories, the biggest lesson i have learned this year, is how much our words can kill or bring forth life.

I've taken a break from here, and believe i will continue to do so.

Rosie.

Rosie, if you come back to read this, I'm sorry that the teaching job apparently didn't work out for next year, but I just know God has wonderful things in store for you. It will all work to the good since you love Him.

Yeah, I've noticed you haven't been around, seems like several people aren't much these days and that's a bit sad but I understand. Just know that I have missed you, and Sam-girl and others. So if you feel like sharing your smiles at some time, come on back- I know I'd like to read and share them with you.

Smiling because I find the fact that there's a whole thread devoted to "Parents of Teens" hilarious. I mean, come on...seriously? Are we really that bad?

Smiling because I'm listening to Mainstay.

Smiling because suddenly I find myself as my friends' advice-giver...and although it's rewarding, it sure is tough! But I wouldn't trade it for anything.

I am smiling becuz a stranger took the time to talk to me, and it became a huge source of encouragement. I was sitting at the park, long story as to how/why i got there......and there was a group of people picnicking at some tables to the right of me. Well.....this one lady walks by, comments about me reading.....we get into conversation, and it turns out she/they are from a church that meets in my neighborhood. We ended up talking, she invites me over to the picnic, and when i get the nerve to go over there, introduces me to the other women, and then we all sat and chatted. I heard some great praise and worship music. I feel soo blessed that the Lord soooooooo orchestrated this event!

Great smiles here!

I'm smiling at the goodness and graciousness of God.
I need to skiddaddle, but hope to post more smiles here soon.

Ah Rosie ~ thanks for bringing back the smiles! I was just thinking about this thread yesterday & wondering where the smiles were...

My smile: first time in 4 years that bratboy was able to spend his birthday with me. Made for lots of smiles & a happy mama.

Went to the nickel arcade. Even big sisters played & had fun.... nothing like seeing girly-girls trying to out shoot & out score the baby brother!!

God is so good.

Yes He is good tlims! I'm smiling this morning because it is a beautiful day up here in N MN- sunny, going to be around 80* (since I live nearer the big lake it will probably be a perfect somewhere between 75 & 80* ), and it's my day off . I'm hoping for a little floating around in the pool, maybe some weeding in the flower beds- maybe even a trip to the garden center for some more on sale really cheap flowers since it's pretty close to the end of planting season around here... (He &) life is good!!

Where are the summer smiles?

Smile 1: I have temporary job. Perhaps not the job I will want to stay with for long term, but for now it's super! Am working in an alzheimer care home -- what a riot! So much fun.

Smile 2: having fun with the kids

Smile 3: it's summer -- swimming, playing, picnics, the ocean, the waterfalls, the parks

The Lord has created such a beautiful world... just gotta smile at that one!

Hey tlims........I have a huge smile........

The girls and I went to the beach yesterday to play in the waves...........and they were huge

We had so much fun together.

Sat I went to a good friend's little daughter birthday party and then to my cousin's wedding.

Another cousin, who has cancer, looks great and seemed so happy.

I had not seen her that happy and content long before she had cancer.

When I asked her about it her comment was along the line of........having cancer has made all those things which use to rob my happiness seem pretty unimportant.

Only God can take the worse thing to happen to a person and use it to transform them into a happy, content person.

I can't stop smiling at thoughts of this weekend.......

I love my family.

Wow, the smile thread resurfaced!! Now that made me smile... and seeing Joy making it resurface made the smile even bigger.

Good to "see" you girl!

Funny how our outlook can change, isn't it? We let such minor things get all out of proportion until something reminds us that life is precious and there are much more important things to think about, to celebrate and to enjoy. I'm glad your cousin has found this to be true.

It has been too cold around here to spend any time in the lake, but the rest of this week is going to be in the upper 80's, so maybe it'll be worth getting down there - or in the pool at least!

Ooooo... Love the smiles Joy2 & Gma

Playing at the beach sounds like so much fun!! ...just might have to go to the ocean before school starts up for the bratboy

"Seeing" friends always brings smiles

Watching residents who have alzheimer makes me smile ... maybe they can't remember how old they are or how many children they had, but when they can still sing the old hymns & or say even verses, it makes me smile!

It rained today... I love the smell of rain

The Perseid Meteor showers are here... seeing the kids get excited about it & remembering all the fun watching them, makes me smile
