While I may not agree with everything that Hal Lindsey writes or says, I can whole-heartedly agree with his report on Isra'el. They have to be the most put-down nation in the world! They are just trying to survive, and the whole Islamic world is out to destroy them! What's up with that? I ask this knowing, however, that while they are called the "little Satan" and we are called the "great Satan," that "Satan" simply means "enemy." Thus, I AM PROUD TO BE PART OF A "SATAN" TO THE WORSHIP OF A FALSE GOD!

If we, through the diplomacy of Barack Obama, side with Iran and turn our backs on Isra'el, then God help us! For God will not forsake Isra'el to the hatred of the world, and Isra'el will survive for GOD will win! His name is YHVH, and He is NOT "Allah!" He is the God of Avraham, Yitschak, and YA`ACOV (JACOB) who was renamed (by God) as YISRA'EL! As the LIVING GOD and the only TRUE GOD, this is why the whole Islamic world is NO MATCH for Isra'el because the whole Islamic world is no match for YHVH, the God of Isra'el! That's why we read of the incredible re-birth of Isra'el in 1947-1948! That's why we read of the fantastic way that God protected Isra'el in the 6-Day War!

If we sanction Isra'el, God will sanction US! If we turn our backs on Isra'el, the "apple (pupil) of God's eye," God will turn His back on US! If we side with Isra'el's enemies, we BECOME Isra'el's enemies, and we BECOME the enemies of God! This should come as no great surprise to the USA, but somehow it probably will come as a great surprise just the same.

We Christians like to quote Hebrews 13:5,...

Heb 13:5
5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

...but we often fail to realize that those words were spoken to ISRA'EL first!

Deut 31:6
6 Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.

You should have read the urgency in his words in the 1960s when I used to hang on his every word. I can no longer stomach his "headline-prophecy" meant to keep people staring at the heavens and waiting for his latest, greatest pronouncements while the Great Commision and discipleship goes wanting...

Roy, I am with you.

Hal is, as we all should be, totally MAD about what is going on, with the diplomatic pressures our government is placing upon Israel. We are in enough trouble as it is, without setting Israel up for attack and destruction.

God will not allow the destruction of Israel. I do not worry about that. I do, however, worry that the U.S.A. will be considered as one of those countries 'against' Israel. Whew-eee! I don't like God sized boots landing on my neck.

Eutie, Shalom. You seem to be holding something against Hal Lindsey. Fifty years is a very long hostility. If Hal was trying to cripple Christianity, I could understand. Of course, you may be better than I am, but fifty years ago, I was still making wrong moves, about every fifty seconds. Today, and much wiser, I can almost go one whole hour before thinking, saying, or doing something sinful. I do not expect Hal, you, myself, Roy, or anyone to be perfect, especially since the only perfect person has not quite yet returned, to set the standard for perfection. Just a thought.

How many times does a man have to yell, "WOLF, WOLF" when there was no wolf before rational people think, "Maybe this guy isn't worth listening to any longer"? Apparently, as long as the man lives.

I'm with Bob on this one. As I said, I don't necessarily agree with everything that Hal Lindsey writes or says, but I WOULD like to see believers "staring at the heavens" more! It's not just "staring" but "LONGING!" A proper expectancy will GENERATE advances in obeying the Great Commission and discipling new believers! It's the BLESSED HOPE! There IS urgency in his words, because Isra'el IS on the brink of disaster! (So what else is new?) Can't you see it?

The leaders of Iran want to destroy Israel. They call her the "little Satan."
Iran is using centrifuges to enrich uranium, moving them closer every day to having fissionable material good enough to build a nuclear bomb.
Iran already has ENOUGH uranium to build nuclear power plants, and the uranium for them does not have to be so enriched!
Iran has been buying long-range missiles, capable of reaching Isra'el, from Russia and is testing them.
And now, Barack Obama is warning Isra'el not to attack Iran's nuclear facilities unilaterally under threat of sanctions?!
What other nation would survive those odds???

Thankfully, Isra'el has a reputation of doing as they please and having history justify their decisions!
Thankfully, Isra'el is PROTECTED by the Creator God, Yhvh, who sustains all things with the word of His power and who has promised, "No weapon formed against thee shall prosper!"

No, Hal's not wrong on this one.

Jesus had just promised the disciples the power of the Holy Spirit to witness to the entire world, and they are standing around looking into the clouds.
I am with Eutychus again. The church has been standing around looking into the clouds long enough. Time to start telling people to follow the Lamb!

I'm amazed that people will continue to defend a man that repeatedly bears false witness as to the headlines and the times.

What are you saying, Bob, that because I raise a question of the credibility of a man I've read since the 1960s that I'm walking after my own lusts and denying His soon coming?

If so, then I've seen that same passage quoted to support heretics like Benny Hinn and Joel Osteen.

Well, it doesn't wash. I see nothing restraining the Lord's return TODAY. And I still have a problem with the likes of Lindsey.

Better a Berean than a drinker of a false prophet's Kool-aid.

I don't endorse Lindsey because I don't normally listen to him. So no I am not saying that because you question his credibility you are a scoffer.

I did listen to the one video link posted on this thread and thought it very sound analysis of current world conditions.

That being said, I do take exception to people who say don't worry about the nature of the events in the world today because we don't know when Christ will return and ignore scriptural prophecies. What better way to wake people up to the realities of the gospel than to make them aware of what God has promises will shortly occur. No we don't know when that will be and it could be quite some time before it occurs but our spiritual lives should be lived as if it could occur tomorrow. After all we all can die tomorrow and that in reality is about the same as Christ returning tomorrow. Our chances to live differently are kaput

I myself expect Christ to return in a short period…not tomorrow but always within a seven year timeline. As such I try to keep my life tidy and my accounts up to date but I have not stopped living my life.

I don't believe I ever said that, Bob, so I can safely assume you meant the passage for somebody on Jay Leno's show.

I take exception to folk that have used today's headlines for 4 or more decades to categorically declare that such and so event or person is conclusively something specifically mentioned in scripture and, then, never held to account when they've been in error continuously.

That kind of error does nothing to "wake people up to the realities of the gospel," rather it gives them reason to mock us as a silly, confused and deluded bunch. I prefer Paul's way, "For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified."


Not to sidetrack the Hal Lindsey praise thread, Jesus did teach that we are not to worry, but to place all our confidence in our Father's care. I did not worry on Y2K or 9/11 (and other seeming catastrophes) but saw them as an opportunity to share my confidence in my Lord and Savior

I prefer to not throw out the baby with the bath water. I believe we can read and/or listen to Lindsey (and others), with a prayerful heart, take whatever God would show us and filter out the rest. After all, His Word never returns void. There were even people saved by watching Jim and Tammy Faye Baker! [8D] And every so often, even people like Hagee will speak some truth.

So, my opinion would be that Lindsey is correct about a lot of things but made his mistake by trying to put a time table to it. [:)] But I'm not going to discard everything he said simply because he made that mistake...I've made enough mistakes in my lifetime to understand that concept!

Eutychus....brother do you believe that a child of Christ should be just as well versed in what God has to say about His punishment of a sinful world as any other aspect of His word?

On this we do agree...I do not think any person should make it his lifetime effort teaching just one aspect of Gods word or endeavor to become wealthy from teaching fear. To a child of Christ there is no fear in any aspect of Gods word…it is all good news.

I agree that Hal, like Jack Van Impe, is preoccupied with the end times in an unhealthy manner. There needs to be balance, not just preaching on Revelation and Daniel 24/7. I'm not even sure Jack is in the faith, he seems like such a pitch man to me.

HL is NOT just a "sensationalist" and although I differ with him on several points, I would trust HIS exegesis over yours, especially if you are missing his point on God's Chosen people, Isra'el.

You're right in a sense; believers should not be just "standing around looking into the clouds." ON THE OTHER HAND, the "Blessed Hope" is a powerful motivator that "modern Christians" should not ignore. Keeping the Lord's Second Coming forefront in their minds as a goal, they should be working to broaden Yeshua`s Kingdom ahead of His Return.

Many other believers spend far more time considering the physical needs of unbelievers to the EXCLUSION of their "spiritual" needs! That's understandable since they don't know HOW to meet their "spiritual" needs, but it's still a shame. I would rather that believers study prophecies about the Lord's Second Coming than holding up empty hands, swaying back and forth in "worship" services with their redundant lyrics and emotion-generating music!

When the Scriptures say "Wait upon the Lord," it does NOT mean to just stand around or sit around and wait for the Lord to Return; it means to wait upon the Lord as a waiter would wait on customers in a restaurant!

But, between Hal Lindsey's approach to the Scriptures and those who want to "spiritualize" everything away and give Isra'el a lesser role than the Scriptures NORMALLY TAKEN give her, I'll lean more toward HL's approach.

Oh man, phew! - There are so many parts throughout this thread where I wanted to make comments. But there's too much. I got angry at bits, agreed with parts, excited at parts, but i'd be here all night, quoting and highlighting etc.

Anyway, God loves Israel, always has, always will. He may not agree with everything Israel do, and even punish at times. But He's kept them through out the ages. Blessed them, and now restored the land to them. Far from Israel giving away more land, when Christ restores them, they will receive the whole and full portion of the land promised, which Israel still do not occupy yet. Remember that God tells us that the nations will gather once again against Israel for her destruction, but that the Lord will fight for her. We saw this a little during the six day war. We'll see a literal and full fulfilment at the end. So if we don't want to come against the Lord as His enemy, I'd say don't become an enemy of Israel.

This doesn't mean that we have to agree with everything that Israel do, and as nations we can advise Israel and disagree if they are wrong. However, it's not a great idea to side, unreasonably with Israel enemies who are hell bent on Israels total destruction.

I bet the Arab nations who surround Israel cannot believe their luck, because Israel's friends are doing a Judas on her. Which is scary, as one of the main reasons Iran and others held back, is because they were aware that one of Israel friends was the heavy weight champ of the world. With that not only gone, but on side with the enemy. God help America and Islam. I don't say God help Israel because scripture clearly shows He will, and come against Israel's enemies.

I haven't seen Hal in many years, but, inspired by this thread, I recorded the "Hal Lindsey Report" and I enjoyed it.
