I picked high speed internet and a computer as necessities, primarily because without them, I couldn't work from home like I do, and my husband would have an 800 mile commute to go to his Masters classes. I also think they are becoming somewhat essential for childrens' education. Handwritten papers are a no-no now, and especially if you're going to homeschool you're probably going to need the resources the internet can provide. Microwave is kind of borderline. I could live without it, but it would make cooking dinner much less convenient (I don't tend to use it to make dishes directly, but I do consider it a good idea for thawing chicken safely). I've never owned an ipod. haha

None a true necessities, not in the sense of food and shelter. However, life would be more inconvenient without most of them.

I chose dryer, because I live way north and can't hang my clothes in winter...though I could in the house, so I guess it's not really essential. For us...a computer, internet and cell phones ARE essentials. When my husband is deployed, the internet and my cell are the only ways he can contact me. Even the internet is unreliable much of the time. Still essential for us though.

today, it's 112 degrees, so I am very grateful for air conditioning. I agree with Psalm 22, the other things are convenient and nice, but food, shelter and love are necessities.

For us, the closest thing to a necessity on that list would be a car. We live quite a ways out, so making a living would b difficult without one. On the other hand...like someone said, the human race most certainly could go on without any of those things, so by that definition....they are all luxuries.
