I really enjoy the Max Lucado books but he cannot write them fast enough for me. Can anyone suggest any books/authors that are similar to Lucado. I find his books are so easy/enjoyable to read. Thanks

Pastor Lucado is pretty unique in his field. I have yet to read anybody else who takes such complex truths and explains them in a way anybody can understand without making it sound like he's talking down to you. And I've worked in a Christian book store for 9 years. If there's one (Christian book store) nearby I suggest you go n and browse. If not, check to see if he has a personal web site, then see if he lists his influences anywhere. That's about all I can suggest. And welcome to the forums.

have you ever read his book Cosmic Christmas? it's a very short book but worth reading, the tittle may have changed, it came out in 1997, and it's based on a little story by David Lambert, this little story i read every Christmas season, but you can read it anytime in the year. I surely enjoyed it the times i've read it.

I agree with you guys that Max is unique, but you may want to check out John Ortberg and see if you like any of his books.I have a couple, and they are pretty good.

I love Max Lucado. Charles Swindoll is really good. The Left Behind series is really good, so I've heard. They're still on my books to read list.

In addition to the Bible, I am re-reading "Thy Will Be Done On Earth - Understanding God's Will for You" by Robert Lloyd Russell. I plan on re-reading this excellent book about once a year. Highly recommended for Christians of all maturity levels.

Max Lucado is an excellent author. And, i agree with the poster who suggested Swindoll. I am reading now for a second time his book titled Hand Me Another Brick. Excellent book about Nehemiah and loaded with insights concerning leadership.

I read What's So Amazing About Grace? by Phillip Yancey a long time ago. I remember enjoying that. Perhaps try that out. A lot of people like Beth Moore, too. Here's a link to one of her books. http://www.lifeway.com/e4/shop/?id=005162885 And, I'm a huge fan of Joyce Meyer. I'm actually going to one of her conferences tonight. Joyce's website is joycemeyer.org.

I would echo the Phillip Yancey recommendation. When I was re-starting my journey with Christ, I wound up reading both Lucado and Yancey almost interchangeably. I ready Yancey's book, Soul Survivor: How My Faith Survived the Church, while I was on an airplane to a short-term missions trip to Romania, and I literally broke down in tears. People were kind of looking at me wondering why I would be crying, but I assured them it was the "good kind of tears".
