cih92 -> ATM withdrawal (5/25/2009 3:14:31 PM)

I looked at my bank statement today and according to my bank statement there was an ATM withdrawal at a particular street address, but I did not make that withdrawal. I have never been to that ATM at that particular street address. My ATM card has never been lost or stolen and I've never given my card to anyone. I talked with my bank about this and they are going to do some research about my claim. I had my bank render my ATM card void. How did someone withdraw money from my bank account through the use of an ATM machine if he or she did not have my ATM card? Did someone create a bogus ATM card with my ATM number on it?

Do you have a debit card? Also, sometimes it could be as simple as thieves putting something over the slot where you insert your ATM card and are able to "capture" your account number & pin information.

Yes, I have a debit card.

They could have gotten your numbers then if you used it at a store also.

I just had both my Visa and Visa check cards replaced because the clearinghouse's security had been compromised and there was a possibility that my information had been stolen. Could be what happened to you.

I agree. call your bank and get it checked.

when a card gets worn sometimes you have to punch in the numbers. That's probably what they did because they got you numbers somehow.

Did you make a withdrawal for that amount of money somewhere else? Maybe the address is incorrect or it is human error somewhere within the process; though I think the bank would have realized the error when you called. Strange situation! You were right to cancel your card. Are they going to reimburse you?
