I am hearing that dealerships that are doing well are being forced to close while others that are not are allowed to stay open. Some are now saying it is the dealerships owned by Republicans that are being forced to close. I would say it was a bunch people of people making a big deal out of nothing but in this day and age I have to wonder if it may be true. http://directorblue.blogspot.com/2009/05/red-alert-did-campaign-contributions.html

If Chrysler doesn't like the terms they should have simply shut down. Listening to all the whining, crying, and bawling over the automakers is growing very old. Ford isn't going through this because their management cleaned house, slimmed down, and changed things a few years ago. They even did it with the hindrance of the UAW. Hear that everyone? Competent leadership can even overcome everyone's prejudice against the UAW. In all honesty though it is probably cheaper to shutdown the Republican ones anyway since they are the people who will rely on rugged individualism and who believe that no matter what life throws at you it can be overcome. The liberals would just go crying for money and a bailout. Now we can watch the Republicans go practise what they preach. /sarcasm off Except for the first paragraph. Any company stupid enough to invite Washington to take it over deserves to be discontinued.

You obviously didn't read the article. If it is found that dealers that were doing better were closed over nearby dealers that weren't based on politics alone then we have a major problem here. This isn't about Chrysler really but abuse of power.

This isn't about Chrysler really but abuse of power. Yes I did go through the article but not through the individual dealers themselves. Enough to know that there was 1 Obama donor who gave $200 that closed and there was at least one example of someone who gave a substantial amount to Hillary but not Obama. Some were pretty small donors some were pretty significant. (from a few hundred to I saw some hitting the 20kish area) As far as who got closed and didn't get closed I have no idea what criteria was used because I don't know the business environment of each dealership. If politics did play a game than that is wrong to. Ultimately though what should Chrysler have expected when they got down on their hands and knees begging the government for help? This entire auto bailout thing is simply wrong. Ran into a good article this morning about it on Time of all things I'll link here: http://www.time.com/time/business/article/0,8599,1901345,00.html The entire point of the bailout mess is this: Would you or I go crawling on hand and knee to the government for a bailout? If we did would we honestly expect anything better than what we have seen? I don't.

I would also expect a higher percentage of dealerships would be Republican anyway and with the kind of fear and paranoia sweeping through the last campaign it would have energized many more to send money to the GOP who owned business'. It would be interesting to know what the percentage of chrysler dealers who are involved politically give to the GOP vs. the DNC. It could be that the numbers aren't that far off.

The abuse of power was the point I was trying to make.

Most of the dealerships that are staying open were also donors to the republican party. This is just another made-up political issue which is stupid because there are more than enough real issues going on. I guess when your party has nothing to offer on real issues you have to make something up. Btw - I like Dennis Kucinich. I think he's an honest man who is concerned with real issues that affect us.

I was wondering about the ratios and percentages on the ones staying open vs. the ones closing. I'm slowly starting to like Dennis more myself. His area is north of me though.

The headline says Gm dealers and this is about Chrysler dealers so someone from the very beginning didn't have the facts straight. How do you trust the article after that? Let's say we do. Anyone read Anne Coulter's latest book called Victims about how the Liberals all see themselves as victims and it colors their policies? Well, what we have here is the perfect example of our brother Paul's warning to be careful what you preach against or you may begin to do it. There's this and the ACLJ's warning about terrorist lists and then the Republican Congressmen that tweeted they were treated like by the Dems like the protesters in Iran are treated by their government. Out of power for a short time and they are as paranoid as they claim the other side is. Anyone ever concerned about how Halaburton got all those no-bid contracts and thus cost other Dem firms their jobs during the last eight years? If in fact it's payback, then too bad. Since the Repubs were claiming to be Christian, maybe the Dems just figured they had done unto like they wanted done to them. That's the earthly response. More positively, realize those dealers still have their state Licenses and can apply for other dealerships or become independents who can come back stronger from the loss and isn't that what all those conservatives were crying for, to let the companies go under and get stronger or die? They have what they asked for.

Keep buying Chevy. (I buy Buick.) This has nothing to do with them. There's some REAL chaos working itself out there and letting them die won't stop the chaos. Besides, buying them will save the US, Canada and the UAW pension funds, which are all involved in the bail out.
