MM gets her braces on this morning. Hopefully Mr. Manly will not need them too, as both my girls did. TL is still in braces, as all of her teeth have not come in all the way and they are waiting for them to come in before they can finish treatment. She has been in braces for 2 1/2 years. MM's treatment will be more extensive than TL's was, but it is a different system. She will also be in braces a long time; from 2 1/2 to 3 years. MM's treatment will cost us a lot less, however, because we have orthodontic treatment on our dental plan. It didn't kick in until we had been on the plan for two years and it just became effective June 1st.

Cynthia - ds has his braces off & I thought we'd be almost done with orthodontics for him, but after forgetting his retainer when he went to camp for a week, the dentist said he needs to be more diligent about wearing it & that he may even need headgear. Apparently, his jaws are growing just like the rest of him & they don't want the overbite to return! Dd will definitely need braces, but she still has a few adult teeth that need to come in & since we are moving he didn't want to start her now. I need to check on what our ortho coverage will be when dh retires. He may get a job w/ dental benefits, but I don't want to count on that. I had never thought about ortho coverage not kicking in right away after he gets a job. That's something to keep in mind. We are all getting showers & going to go get our hair cut. Ds has needed a haircut for a while now. Dd & I have both been talking about donating to locks of love. I should be able to donate & still have enough left for shoulder length hair (I'm hoping) & dd has been growing out her bangs, so hers will be chin length or shorter. I'm hoping it looks cute on her. It may sound silly, but I'm a bit nervous. I want to get it cut, but want to still be able to put it up in a ponytail & have it look good when it's down. We're going to surprise dh when he gets home. He knows we were going to get cuts, but not that we are going today while he's at work! We had thought of going tonight, but we are dog sitting for a friend & they are bringing her by tonight.

Amy--please consider Wigs for Kids. LoL gets so much hair they end up selling it. For me, when I donated my hair, I wanted it to go to a little girl. Mine will be ready to cut this winter. I can't wait! The dentist says that all our kids need braces. Dh feels that if it isn't bad enough to prevent eating, then they don't need braces. I kinda agree. I needed braces, my parents couldn't afford it, and I turned out fine. Well... I am SICK! Ds3 brought home a cold virus from camp. I feel totally miserable today. And I'm supposed to race on Sunday. Sigh... might just be another DNS.

The futon we paid almost $300 has fallen apart! The welds broke on the main pieces. Now I can't find the receipt and we didn't keep the box. It's sitting at the Walmart store. Dh says if we can't find the receipt we are going pick up the mattress and tell them they can keep the frame. I should have taken the stupid thing back when the screws started to fall out instead of replacing them. What really gets me is the people who wqork for them. For a little over minimum wage, they hire smart alecs to protect their interests. We spend $$$$$ a year at that store. Guess we will be going to Kmarts.

Judy--that's frustrating!!! Please tell me I'm not rotten. Ds3 and ds4 went down to a neighbor kids house at 10am this morning. At 10:30, ds4's friend from church called. Sorry, ds4 isn't home, we'll have him call when he gets home. At 11:00 he calls and leaves a message. At 11:30 ds2 answered the phone and tells him that ds4 will call when he gets home. At 12:00 friend leaves another message. At 12:30 he calls again. This time, I answer and ask to speak with his mother. Mind you, I am sick. All I wanted to do was take a nap. I asked friends mother to please have stop calling. She had no idea! She, too, is sick in bed with this nasty cold virus that her dd brought home from camp. She had no idea that her ds was calling! Would you have done the same thing? I did get in enough of a nap that I feel a bit better.

His, You did the right thing. Both my daughters have had severe orthodontic issues and the one who got braces today has an overbite so severe that her lower teeth touch her upper palate. She cannot even bite into an apple.

His, I would have done the same thing. Actually, I've already done something similar. There was a little boy who wouldn't believe that Joe had school work and kept ringing our bell every 20 minutes. I threatened to call his mom and he stopped.

his, I think I would have called her after the third call. Want to hear something weird? Well, maybe not weird at all. Gs had a ball game. I knew we would be late for it but I asked Ds if he wanted to go. We were almost to the ball game and I saw a baby walking down the sidewalk-alone-with only a wet diaper on. The sidewalk is probably 3 feet or so from the main road. I stopped the truck in front of the baby. He couldn't have been older than a year and a half or so. Dh jumped out and grabbed him. I blew the horn several times and Dh started to walk back the way the baby had come from. Well, the Dad came out of the house and looked like he was in shock. Dh gave him the baby. The mom came out and said they had been upstairs and didn't know he was out! She looked like she was laughing! Something told me to go to the game or should I say Someone! I told Dd and she said that we should have called the police. I am just glad the little guy didn't get hurt or killed or kidnapped. Someone else could have grabbed him and just took him. He didn't even cry when Dh picked him up. BTW, the game was over when we got there. Ds went to the city to "Veg"(his words). He was vegging in the hallway with gs (almost 15) and a 10 and 6 yr old. They got hit by a severe storm. Dd was at work, she saw the storm, and left. She was in more danger than the kids. She said there was a tree that hit a power line and the poles were leaning towards the road and the wires were very close to the tope of her car, the wind blew her car all over the road and she even had to turn around because the roads were flooding. She got home Ok to find 4 kids and 3 dogs safe in the hallway!

Judy--glad you got the baby before anything happened! Those things do happen. My guys have gotten out before. One time, I was sleeping on the couch by the front door and my guys climbed up and got the key (double key lock), unlocked the door and went outside. I am sick! Really, really sick. I just emailed my coach and told him I would be a DNS this weekend. There are no other half marathons until August, which won't fit in with my race schedule. I so wanted to do a half marathon before my half Ironman.

His, I have that same nasty bug. It has gotten worse each day, and last night and today is the worst. I do hope you feel better. Two of the dances tonight are fast and complicated. Right now, I do not want to dance them. Maybe I'll feel better tonight? I did ask dh to bring home something to relieve the sinus pressure in my head. Judii, Glad you got the baby. My first thought when I read it was that he was an escaped baby. So glad we have and had doors that are difficult for an adult to open. My blessing could not escape even if she wanted to.

narnia--passing a virtual sudafed! This one is a doozy. It seems to be hitting adults harder than kids. Ds3 got it at camp and is still stuffed up. I'm thinking it's going to take a good two weeks.

I hope you ladies get well quickly. That sounds terrible. I got paid today for our first two tutoring sessions. $50 for two hours "work." I feel so happy. I especially am happy because the little girl's mother is thrilled that I'm doing this. It's all around great. The little girl seems to be enjoying herself and I'm figuring out where her problem lies. It will take time to correct it, but then she'll be fine.

Thanks for the sudafed! Two weeks...ugh.. And hopefully it will not get worse every day of the two weeks..that will be awful. I do feel better now that I have been up a few hours. It took my head a few hours to have the sinus pressure tolerable. Now I feel I can do the fast dances, although I would prefer not to...but I know that's what happens when you're the leader...have to do it even when you don't feel 100%. We have tambourine practice tomorrow. I will not be attending as my head will not have recovered in enough time to be able to do it.

narnia--no, you won't be sick-sick for two weeks. The cough and stuffiness lasts that long. Coach had me down for a 30min run at race pace today. I'm certain I could do it. But why do it? There is no way I could race 13miles this weekend. I need rest more than anything.

I am hoping to get some rest next week when we go to stay with dh when he's out of town. I am so happy the hotel manager upgraded his room for free. They serve a nice breakfast and one night they will serve dinner too. We will have sandwiches for lunch and I'm not sure what we'll do for dinner the other night. We might get a pizza. The money I made this week will pay for gas and any extra expenses we have. I am really thankful for this little boost. The last time I had a paycheck was about 14 years ago.

Hi there. I just found you all and signed up. I promote the children in May, and we start the new school year in June, with "summer school" -- 2-3 hours daily of core work (math, Bible, writing). My four children love to read, so that's ongoing. We use the church library (which is huge) as well as our public library and our home library. We do lots of field trips and park days with our local homeschooling group. We're also doing family ministry projects this summer, looking for ways to bless others as God has blessed us. Nice to find you all! Anita (adopt4Christ) "Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a Voice behind you saying, "This is the way; walk in it." Isaiah 30:21

Welcome to the forums Anita! We got our kids test results back and they all did well. I was surprised that Timothy actually did better than Sarah this year. I think that Sarah may have been over confident and thus careless. But who cares... she did well, and it is over. We are still finishing stuff that we wanted to get done this year. There are some things that I am working on with Sarah and Timothy that they are weak in, but actual regular schooling is done. I found a sight to use instead of thee homeschool tracker. I like the homeschool tracker, but I don't like that it is limited to just one computer and not a computer that I have all the time. The new one is online so it will be easier to access with any computer I use. I hope that it will help make things easier next year.

Welcome Anita! I ended up not doing the fast dances...the fast hopping, spinning ones. Rw told me not to feel obligated to dance if I am not feeling well. And if it happens again, just tell a couple of the other dancers and they can lead those dances if they want to. Yesterday the pressure was even worse. I stayed up a few hours, slept a couple of hours and repeated that pattern throughout the day. I am a bit better today..instead of the pressure all across my head now it is mainly in one corner of my head. No excessive heat warning today..woo hoo!
