ORIGINAL: tHEwESTERNrEBEL Thought I would post this in the Career area. This is in reference to being asked to preform tasks at work that we are afraid to do, because it is dangerous or because we simply don't like to do it. I agree with Reba here - here are OSHA guidelines and if you are being asked to do something that violates them, then that is wrong. quote:
Now I am coming to terms with something, that is very hard to deal with for me. Aren't Christian believers supposed to be free from all fear? But, yet when I go onto a high place or roof and so forth, my fears come back and I begin to hear all kinds of condemnation from the enemy about how I must not be trusting in Christ. Is it reasonable to assume that if we experience fear, for any reason at all, that we are not trusting in God anymore? Some people, even those who are not saved seem to have no fear at all, preforming dangerous acts like drunk driving, and even basic things like working on roofs and so forth. Then there is the concept of facing ones fears, and that all fears must be cast out, but is that entirely true from a Biblical standpoint? If fear is a sin and so forth, than being afriad of anything is sin or is my theology wrong? When I read the bible, I see a lot of "Fear Nots" but I don't think that God condemns us for fear. Some fears are good. We should be afraid to drive drunk. We should have a little fear (or maybe a better word would be respect for the danger of heights) when working on roofs or in high places so that we don't get up there and decide to tap dance [8D]. Those things are dangerous. We are told to fear God - that is the beginning of wisdom. So, there are some fears that are good. But, the other fears - the phobias, the things that hold you back from doing what God says to do - I'm not sure about those. I don't think that if we have the emotion of fear, that we are condemned because of it. I didn't see God chastising anyone because they felt the emotion of fear, but rather because of the way they acted once they felt the emotion. It seems to me that when we have a situation and fear comes upon us, and we know we are to move forward - then we do so - even if we feel afraid inside - we move forward remembering who God is and that he will equip us - no matter what.
